The Drama Chronicles Thread
Because I have nothing better to do, I decided I'd start chronicling our drama for posterity.
Warning: I have no previous experience with writing or journalism, so I wouldn't expect it to be a fun read, it's mostly just a collection of facts I want to preserve.
Should I Just Leave?
Antecedents: Chagen creates "
The first fic I might seriously finish is..."
(a fetish fic), and shortly after posts a few snippets. His writing is
criticized. He doesn't take this well, gets into a heated argument and
eventually relents,
throwing him into a down mood.
Action: Chagen creates "
Should I just leave?",
in which he self-deprecates and asks the title's question. The thread
immediately derails into various users (most prominently Bob, Vorpy and
Vivi) posting random images, many of which involve Lady Gaga or My
Little Pony. The lack of seriousness doesn't sit well with Chagen. "
People who deliberately derail serious threads by posting non-sequitur images" is created, becoming a mixture of talking about Chagen and posting random images, causing "
Threads on this Forum Spill Out"
to be created, which predictably becomes about posting random images. A
small amount of fallout reaches other threads. glennmagusharvey locks
"Should I just leave" the next morning (local time).
Aftermath: "
This feels like the last days of IJBM 1" is created.
A small discussion gets
made on the rules thread in which glennmagusharvey explains that one
should limit his or her wonderposting, and Vorpy explains her intentions
to obstruct attention towards Chagen and his thread.
Additional (edit): A couple hours after the fact glennmagusharvey locks "
People who deliberately derail serious threads by posting non-sequitur images", allowing for it to be recreated
which it is. Bob and Gelzo agree on the rules thread not to shitpost like that again, Longfellow edits the shitposting rule to add emphasis.
Comments
Needs more random pictures.I can't wait for the next being.
I fixed them, thanks.
None, I hope.
Aww, thank you.
^^ Right away.
Late April Dramafest
Events: The drama began at its peak. Chagen creates "Legend Of Zelda", criticizing the series using colourful vocabulary and complaining about the game being universally praised. He is immediately mocked for this. Shortly after, he creates "Having a minority opinion.", complaining about people jumping on him when he has one. He then comments on the Zelda thread about people not understanding that tastes are
subjective and that not everybody thinks the same, and that he's disillusioned
in what he calls "nerd culture" because of this. He is called out on not defending his position, and being an hypocrite.
The drama continues undisturbed through the first day (actually, past midnight for timezones around America). On day two, things have calmed down a bit and there's some discussion about Zelda along the mockery.
Chagen creates the unrelated "Girls on the internet.", lamenting that he acts creepily submissive towards women on the internet. The thread contained various snipes at Chagen, but the biggest attacks were thrown between tnu1138 and Bob.
Later that day, glennmagusharvey calls out users on their thread shitting on "Having a minority opinion." for dogpiling on Chagen on that same thread, who then explain that the thread is a response from the Zelda one. glennmagusharvey goes to that thread to add a megapost chastising users there for piling on Chagen, as well as adding to the game's discussion.
The unrelated thread "Rottweiler got banned", which had had lenghty arguments about Rottweiler's presence on Off-Topic Content and his views, had been treading close to lockable territory before (and after) these events, and had been watched closely by glennmagusharvey and INUH.
Not all of these events are related, or are too dramatic on their own, but occurred in a small time frame (and shortly after the previous dramafest) that the atmosphere of a drama was there anyway.
Ending: A few more things happen later during the day:
The minority opinion thread is locked. The Zelda thread is locked and recreated when it was clear that comments about Chagen wouldn't stop. Discussion goes fine.
Cygan creates "That the current set of rules are not well-defined enough.", in which changes to the rules are discussed.
Bob backs out of the "Girls on the internet" thread.
glennmagusharvey creates "All the crazy problems between people around here", expressing his annoyance at having to deal with the users' drama.
Bob creates "That what I consider civil is apparently incredibly dickish", apologizing.
At this point, the drama is completely over.
Epilogue: Discussion goes smoothly in the "That the current set of rules are not well-defined enough.", and various rule proposals are discussed. A few days later, "Announcement that includes the rules. You should probably read it!" is locked and replaced with "Rules and Announcements Thread v.2", with some changes that came about the rule proposal thread and elsewhere.
...I think.
;P
I searched Drama on the search and this thread didn't come up.
I put chronicles and then it did.
Concerned parents should kill themselves.
dramatic event (with consequences nonetheless) that resulted in big,
non-dramatic event. Both are included here.
Thanks to Anonym for providing guidance.
Due to the character limit, the event shall be described in three posts.
Night of the Shitpost
Set up: The following is a list of threads containing shitposting made late at night in May 22 (or
early in May 23, depending on how you look at it) in U.S. timezones, in
chronological order of creation, followed by a summary and/or notes.
Obama's doing it wrong. - A thread by tnu1138 stating that Obama should get his healthcare reform amended into the U.S. constitution. Derailed into a discussion about how it's just another
tnu thread. During this derail, his spelling is criticized, leading him
to create the following thread.
I am motherfucking sick of the motherfucking people on this forum mentioning my spelling - Due to the character limit the thread's title originally implied the
thread was about mentioning his mother, and the OP contained no further indication as to what the thread was about, so it immediately became about yo mama jokes. It wouldn't get a single reply about his spelling until the next day (not counting a dyslexic yo mama joke).
I am motherfucking sick of the motherfucking people on this motherfucking forum overusing motherfuck - Here tnu1138 complains about this snowclone and comments on his persecution complex.
My thread got hijacked - In which tnu1138 complains about his spelling thread's fate. This thread is immediately shitposted into irrelevance.
People constnatly mocking me - In this thread tnu1138 complains about being a punching bag. While initially met with shitposting, the thread gradually became about tnu's spelling habits until the second page in which serious comments stopped flowing in and finally fell to shitposting.
Comments being switched around - Bob noticed that comments are being switched and editted, and the posters playfully attempt to talk to the mysterious perpetrator, and try to find out who it is.
Around this time, the "It's not moving fast enough here!" thread is necroed, and after celebrating on what had happened, Vorpy, Bob, Forzare and TheMightyAnonym agreed to make loads and loads of threads.
How to prepare for baseball tryouts? - A copy/paste from this Bodybuilding.com thread.
My one fear for GOW - A copy/paste from this thread from another forum, about Gears of War 3.
I need help from world - A copy/paste from a spam post about a Chinese scientist who discovered the origins of gravitation, and is afraid of persecution by the Chinese government, complete with poor grammar.
How can I Fuzzy your Bacons? - A copy/paste of this kongregate.com thread.
Has anyone really decided as to even go that far in wanting to do to look more like so? - The meme.
Having a baby at home!?!? - Copy/paste of this Crashcrate Forums thread, about giving birth through hypnosis.
Advena - Posting lyrics, apparently taken from this Random Forum! thread.
Does this make sense? - A conversation about apparently made up events related in one way or another to Half-Life.
Comparing penises in the shower. - An ordinary thread asking if the title's subject actually happens in real life. It met both serious replies and shitposting which Forzare, the OP, gladly joined.
How would you respond if asked to define yourself? - Copy/paste of a (ordinary) Yack Fest thread. Received mostly non-serious replies.
Superpower! The Powerful Baconators! - Another copy/paste of this random kongregate.com thread.
The other day, my baby daddy said - Random shitpost.
This is a recipe you have GOT to try! - An apparently reasonable "Broccoli/Mixed Veggie Casserole" recipe.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - OP is "i wear my scars like rings on a pimp… ", a line from God Loves Ugly.
To answer your question, Funny - In which Bob randomly and non-seriously lashes out at Funnyguts.
OMG, Liam. What are you doing? - A copy/paste from this Soap Dreams thread.
URGENT!!! - A copy/paste from this A Pro Ana forum, about drinking water and weight.
"Gee, it sure is shitposting around here..." - Not a shitpost thread, but about shitposts.
None of the current topics interest me - A repeat. The shitposting quickly becomes focused on Sonic
porn. The poster is Schitzo and OP is "DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT".
No - The OP is "Because fuck off, Schitzo Shitzo."
None of the current topics interest me - A snowclone about water currents.
None of the current topics interest me - Another repeat (about currents in the chronological sense).
None of the current topics interest me! - Another.
The *OFFICIAL* end-of-the-fora hand holding thread. - A repeat of the original IJBM thread made during its final moments in which the posters reminisced on their times in the soon-to-be-gone subforum, and reveled in uninhibited shitposting. In the current thread the posters reenacted those moments, including acting as if they still were on TV Tropes.
None of the current topics interest me? - Another snowclone, this time chastising people for claiming to know what interests the OP.
DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU - The meme.
I don't know you anymore - Random shitpost.
Hey Mr. IJBM! - OP is "Why is your head so big? ".
No one else here watches RuPaul's Drag Race - Ordinary thread. Quickly becomes a sockpuppet thread.
Good Night Thread - Vorpy announces she's going to bed, and Forzare remarks on how late it is.
I want to go to bed, but... - In which TheMightyAnonym announces he doesn't want to miss these events due to going to bed.
[personal attack thread] - A metathread.
Everyone's going to bed - Bob lamenting that sleep is getting the best of the other shitposters.
Bob's emo song of singing (less emo, more NSFW) - A song about shitposting.
At this point the shitposting dies off as the main posters have gone to bed.
A few hours later, Cygan and Everest's promotion is anounced on the
basis of increased activity and drama. Two days later the rules are
updated to emphasize not to make meaningless posts in threads just
because you don't like them.
