It's really a quote from the (baka-tsuki translation of) Sword Art Online. Though, technically it's a side story, and it's not actually part of the books proper, but it's still written by the author and presumably is canon.
Finally got around to watching the next few episodes of The Tatami Galaxy. Everything I said before still stands, with the exception of the problem I had with following the subtitles.

Well, restored my computer to factory defaults. So now it's at least usable, though I need to reinstall everything... I'll be able to watch the movie at some point today at least.
