After watching the latest episode of Accel World I've doubt that Sword Art Online could be as competent a story that people claim it is.
^^ As long as there's more K-ON! I'm not complaining.
But there probably isn't more K-ON!. :c
Oh well, whether or not there ends up being another season, what we did get was more than good enough. Actually, as great as I thought the movie was, I would have even been fine with not having it. The end of the second season was really great, and I didn't feel like anything was missing after it. So the movie was already more than I really feel like the series needs...
Of course, I'd gladly watch any more K-ON! anime if it ever happens, and I'm sure KyoAni would do a great job.
Certainly I'd like to see that a lot more than what KyoAni is set to do next season... >.>
How's ACCEL FATTY doing anyhow?
Umm... We have a Boring and Not-Invincible villain who everybody treats as if he is invincible for no reason. The girl of the three-man band has undergone 'Stay In The Kitchen' syndrome in less than an episode and now is basically there to cry and for the boys to fight about. The protagonist has some evil armor with him, but we're not getting there yet because of the current villain. Imagine that one rich kid everybody knew, now imagine him being treated as super powerful by the protagonists when he's obviously not (While his skill is great, it's nowhere near game-breaking).
The protagonist has lost his edge and instead of regrouping and training leaves out everyone who can help him so he can angst a lot before the creepy American stereotype comes and rescues him from his depression. Proving that our protagonist can do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING without somebody encouraging him to.
Just to put this into perspective, a character had to randomly up and leave so this arc would even work (and by the way it's not working, it's just making the protagonist look stupid).
On the bright side, somebody in marketing thought this was a good idea:
I've heard people claim that freaking Highschool DxD has a good story, so...
That's sort of depressing.
On the bright side, episode 3 of Bimbougami Ga was really good. It was a chance for Ichiko to develop without extremely fast pacing like most shows do. I hope the new guy shows up more often, he and Ichiko are kind of... cute? together, I guess.
COME ON Accel World. Does everyone have to be a girl on this show? Is there an obsession with adding EVERYONE to Haru's harem? 6/8ths of the good characters are female now and all of them are obsessed with Haru. The one thing I liked about this show...
You know, I actually can't think of a single anime adapted from a light novel that doesn't at least have fairly strong harem elements.
(I actually thought I had one, but apparently Strike Witches didn't technically start as a light novel series, so...)
Maybe just the kind that get popular and adapted are like that? I guess they're just getting into the anime scene and they're going with 'safe' adaptations first. A good example of this would be KyoAni and Hyouka, which is an LN adaptation that only KyoAni or any other top-tier studio could have done if most other Top-tier studios were interested in doing adaptations at all.
Though I have recently read some LNs and it does seem as if there is a large demand for Harem stuff and from what I've seen the Accel World ones are sort of creepy when it comes to illustrations/fanservice...
Hidan no Aria was nice, though.
Hidan no Aria was a fun anime, although at the same time I feel like it was probably one of the stupidest anime series I've ever seen (not sure if in a good way...). I can still not get over the fact that that show used color-coded underwear (i.e. matching characters' hair color) as a plot point/for foreshadowing. I don't know how the light novel is though.
malk should be here
the argument would be fun
Which argument...?
oh wait shit that's not HotD is it
oh well nvm me. i'll just go to the corner of shame.
I have also heard people say Highschool of the Dead has a good story too, if it makes you feel any better... >.>
Highschool of the Dead does have a good story...
Well, it would have if it weren't so obsessed with boobs and misogyny.
I read Highschool of the Dead for the story and characters, I wouldn't never go near the anime ever.
Really enjoying Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita so far. Which isn't surprising, considering how much I love absurdist humour...
Why is it that anything anyone talks about here seems to involve massive amounts of fanservice in some sense of the word?
*sulky expression*
I dunno, man. It doesn't seem that prevalent in this thread, to me, except that fourteenwings continues to power through Accel World for whatever reason. And even then, I find it hard to believe that most fans still want haremshit at this point.
Ah. Because those shows are more fun and we don't all watch twisted, depressing stuff on a regular basis? :P
In other news, I'm on episode . . . 35? . . . of FMA, and while this particular part is really boring, I'mma keep going now. But it's only a matter of time before I reach season 4, which Netflix hasn't covered, and I honestly don't know if I'll continue past that.
That's most* of what I watch! And for the most, whenever I try to bring anything I find interesting up, I get completely ignored, and it makes me kind of sad. I want to have a conversation, but... what can I talk about?
I am planning on starting Full Metal Alchemist soon, though. So that's something.
*I also watch kind of quirky stuff. Anything with weird animation, really.
"And for the most, whenever I try to bring anything I find interesting up, I get completely ignored, and it makes me kind of sad."
If I watched anime at a better pace, I'd probably watch some of what you've mentioned, but I'm still in the middle of three series as of recently and put a bunch more on hold (including Future Diary, which had a character gang-raped in her backstory for no reason and pissed me off by doing so, but I might eventually return to it to see what the big deal is).
1.- I see no Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei there. Fix that
B-) Why do two seasons of the same show count as different shows?
@DYRE:
Dantalian no Shoka? Spice and Wolf (the first season at least)?Edit: Baccano! too, unless I'm forgetting something.
Blame MAL. AniDB is a bit better about that (it doesn't generally count OVAs and stuff as separate shows), but I don't think I'd be able to get that into a form that's easy to copy and paste, plus my AniDB list is a little out of date. Anime-Planet, by the way, is tremendously bad about that, listing the same season of the same show multiple times in each list, once for each different name it has (so, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya would both show up). So... at least I didn't use that?
I will! Eventually...
^ But I didn't watch any of those, and other than Spice and Wolf (which I guess I just forgot about), didn't know they were light novel adaptations. And now I do, I guess.
Durarara?
Though, I guess, actually, even Hyouka isn't really a harem at all, and I did actually know about that. So from the beginning I kind of had no basis for saying that, I guess... >.>
I'm.. not sure why I'm still watching Accel World actually... I guess I really want to know what other horrid plots they can come up with and whatever does happen when you reach Level 10. Plus even more srs bsns than .hack//, which is a real feat.
Has ended, and I was right about Acchan being assimilated into the Kirara hive mind. I can't wait for the next season next year!
You might not want to continue since said character then basically captures and tortures her boyfriend for no reason (well, she says she loves him but I'm pretty sure that's not a reason).
I need to start working on a list like that...
Durarara is an LN adaptation?
Wait, isn't AKB0048 an idol show?
AKB0048 is an idol show but it's also about fighting space nazis or something.
