There is love everywhere, I already know

    Okay, that's true.

    green-haired girl

    Miku

she didn't pick up any subtle nuances.

Don't go crazy when huge swords try to possess you is a pretty good lesson too :P

I guess Hibiki's growth is pretty straightforward, which is sort of a fault.

Note: I think Chris is a spoiler.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

  • It'd actually be a waste. Not many brawlers in magical girl shows. I think the last was Subaru.

The reason for that is probably how brawling doesn't look all that magical, except with stuff like glowing punches. Still, if it includes say, crazy body slams or spinning kicks, I'd be up for that.

Also, I think Hibki's costume is far better than Madoka's since it looks more like (bizarre) combat gear, although I don't really like it.

I love the gear design, but the frilly Madoka stuff is awesome too. Though Sayaka is tied for worst design of all time along with Cure Dream.

  • It just so happens that it's Hayao Miyazaki's birthday today. What a legend and an inspiration.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

    I've started watching Lagrange.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

So I just watched the first episode of Maoyuu.

One the one hand, I like the central concept and it did a pretty good job of covering the economics of a military complex in cliff notes.

On the other hand all those damn fanservice shots.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

    Pretty much exactly my reaction.

I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic.

I have to see this now.

I am no longer sure I want to see this now.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

It's worth giving a shot, though I can't blame you for being turned off.

  • Pretty sure those tits have more animation than anything that's happened in Jojo's so far.

Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

I really, honestly, can't personally understand how anyone is turned on by bouncing boobies.

I mean, I can assume the association "these are bouncing boobs on a female character, therefore this is supposed to be sexually arousing to some people", but that doesn't mean I understand it at all.  Because I don't.

Edit: v Okay, let me clarify that I don't feel it either.  (That's what I was trying to say actually.)

  • >Applying reason to sexual tastes

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

Easy. I like breasts. They are soft and jiggly and can bouncy. Therefore, I usually like seeing them!

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

So the guys at ADTRW say that if MMY is a straight up adaptation of the manga, then the fanservice will get less and less obnoxious.

    Once again, cautiously optimistic.

Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

I don't really find fanservice obnoxious. To me, it's just a thing that is. Either it adds to the quality for me, or it doesn't take away from it. I hope there isn't something wrong with me.

  • a little muffled

Eh, like anything else it can be done well or poorly, but it's done poorly more than most things are, and in such situations can completely kill the seriousness of a scene. There's also the common problem of overdoing it: too much, even when relatively tasteful, just makes me feel uncomfortable, like I'm watching a porno without the porn.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

It all depends on implementation to me. In some points open, overt sexuality is necessary to help move a story along or makes sense in the context. In others it just pulls me out of the show.

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

Yeah see, I don't see it take the seriousness out of a scene. Like, if a character is running away from a terrifying monster or something, and she has bouncing boobs, I don't see that as taking the seriousness out of the chase. I just don't see it.

  • a little muffled

Like, if a character is running away from a terrifying monster or something, and she has bouncing boobs, I don't see that as taking the seriousness out of the chase.
That's not really the kind of serious scene I was thinking about.

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

Yeah it was a bad example. You know what I mean though.

  • a little muffled

I don't though. I really can't imagine how randomly cutting to showing a character's underwear in the middle of an emotional scene wouldn't kill the tension.

  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

    By being a NisiOisiN work.

  • a little muffled

Well, the only experience I have with his work is the first episode of Katanagatari so I can't really say on that, but I find it hard to believe honestly.

  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

The Monogatari Series' pivotal scene which kicks off the plot is a pantyshot. You can guess from there.

  • a little muffled

I can guess from there, sure, but my guesses do not lead me to the conclusion that the series is likely to be well-executed or anything I'd be interested in. Though I suppose I have heard good things about the original Bakemonogatari at least.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Finished Serial Experiments Lain for the third time the other day.

    God that show is good.

  • a little muffled

    I need to watch that.
