Greg smiles.
So you'll come, then?
Yes. I believe my friends will, as well, but you will have to ask them.
I don't think they'd want to be separated from you.
"Would the rest of you like to come with us?"
The Poliwag backed up slightly. The Hoppip and Bellsprout moved in from behind, nudging him forwards.
Their acceptance was obvious.
Charles walked over. "So how is everything going?"
Snow hid behind her trainer, shy about the group
"Charles, if you please...." Ray said. "This is very delicate. We don't wish to frighten them."
The Hoppip tackled Jackie's stomach, burying itself there. It was fairly obvious who she had chosen.
The Abra was a bit less sure. The Bellsprout and Poliwag didn't know who to join with.
Jackie was about to comment to ask which pokemon wanted which trainer, but she instantly caught the Hoppip and just about died of joy. She lifted the Hoppip to her face (quite easily; it was much lighter than she had expected) and nuzzled it. Cradling it, she looked over the other pokemon, who were still undecided. "Hmm . . ."
"Well, it seems you've made a friend, Jackie." Ray said with a smile. He turned to the others. "Come now, no pressure."
The Abra looked towards Greg.
Um...
The Bellsprout, meanwhile, was hesitant. It looked towards Ray for approval.
Greg looks back at it.
Um...by the way, I just started reading minds...do you think you'd be able to teach me...stuff about that?
Teach you...?
Yeah. I can't exactly control it yet or anything, and it's kinda bothering me and invading people's privacy...
Charles let out his Nuzleaf. "Feeling good enough to walk or would you like to keep resting in the ball, uh..."
He frowned for a second, then snapped his fingers. "How does Robin sound, after Robin Hood?"
I can... try?
The Nuzleaf was woozy, still nearly unconscious.
Ray smiled at the bellsprout and Poliwhirl.. "Your choice, but I certainly wouldn't mind having either of you on my team."
Greg smiles. I'd appreciate it.
The Bellsprout waddled over to Ray.
The Poliwag looked lost.
"Hmm . . . what to name you." Jackie was still fawning over the Hoppip. She saw the Poliwag. "D'aww. You look like you could use a hug, too." She crouched down to see him.
Ray smiled at the Bellsprout. "Welcome to the team.... you need a name... well.. you're a pokemon among the plants... there was a great detective once named Sam Spade... I think I'll call you Spade."
Ray rubbed Spade on his head as he waited for the poliwag to make his decision.
Charles tried to pick up the Pokemon. "Jeez you're heavy! Yeah, you'll have to stay in the ball until we get you to a center. I would use a potion but we're just outside Cerulean"
He called back Robin to his ball
Greg reaches his hand out to Abra to shake it. I'm Greg. What should I call you?
Call me Abra.
The poliwag shook itself a little, then waddled over to Jackie.
"How does Pillow sound?" Jackie asked Hoppip. "You're really fluffy and easy to carry around." Pillow smiled and nodded in the same way that Mercer would, only more energetically.
"And you!" Now that it was closer, with food smears on its mouth, Poliwag was also incredibly adorable. "Well, looks like we have another guy in need of a name! Hmm. Swirly's too obvious . . ."
Really? Are you sure you don't want a name?
I do not really care if I have a name.
But it's just something people should have. You're not going to call me Human, are you?
