"Same thing, Mercer! Brandon, kick its ass!"
She heard Charles. Or not . . . "Uhh . . ." He's not mine to order, though.
Mercer advances forward, scoring a natural 20 on his Accuracy Check. He uses a critical Hypnosis, which is identical in every way to a regular Hypnosis because status moves aren't affected by crits.
The Nuzleaf falls asleep.
Brandon sweeps out low with his feet, kicking the Nuzleaf. He does a moderate amount of damage to the Pokemon.
The other Pokemon advance closer.
"Hold up, Mercer." She thought for a second. "Well, it's good that none of the other pokemon are attacking."
The Nuzleaf stands still, its' eyes glowing.
Sand whirls up, partially blinding Brendon.
"Uh, Snow, you can use Double Team any time now and try to distract the brown Pokemon..."
Brendon lashes out with his hand, Chopping the Pokemon. His hand connects on its' neck, dropping it to the ground with a pained thud.
The Pokemon wheezes, injured quite badly.
"I think that's your chance, Charles!" Now what to do about the others? I'm not leaving till I get the cute one.
Charles took out a Pokeball and threw it at the Nuzleaf. "I hope it holds!"
The ball rolls twice.
The silence seems agonizing, indescribably long, as they wait to see if it rolls a third time.
It rolls a third time, but they know it could break open still.
So they wait.
They cross their fingers, muttering a prayer under their breath.
And then
suddenly, breaking the silence
is a small ding.
The Nuzleaf is caught.
"So, what do we do about the other pokemon?" Jackie had her eyes on the other group. "I think we saved them, but how do we catch them without them running off?"
Charles cheered. "Yes! I caught a whatever the hell it was!"
He then looked at the other Pokemon. "Maybe we can approach them and convince them we're allies?"
"Whatever it takes." A gleam in her eyes, Jackie, slowly approached the huddled pokemon, palms forward in a gesture of peace.
The Pokemon cowered away, clearly frightened.
Charles took out some food. "Hey guys, we don't want to hurt you. Look, I have nummies!"
Snow buried her face in her hands at her trainer saying 'nummies'
The other Pokemon kind of cowered back.
The Poliwag, on the other hand, took a deep breath and tried to bravely stepforward. It stood in between the humans and its' friends. Taking another deep breath, it ineffectually blew a bubble at Greg.
Charles laughed at the bubble. "Maybe we can get our Pokemon to calm them down? Worth a shot"
It glared defiantly at him and blew another bubble.
A gentle breeze caught the bubble and blew it back at the Pokemon. It popped, startling it. It nearly fell backwards, but caught itself and took up its' defiant posture again.
"Awwww . . . look, we're not going to hurt you guys."
"I guess you don't really have a reason to trust us. But we won't hurt you."
Phillip slowly came forward. "Vulvul." It chirped.
Charles brought over the food and placed it in front of the Pokemon before backing off
The Bellsprout trilled, gently waving its' leaves back and forth.
The Poliwag was still looking defiant, but it looked... scared, underneath.
Perhaps it was the sight of so many strong Pokemon that was scaring it.
Greg returns Littorio to his ball.
"Phillip... come back..." Ray said. "It's alright. Phillip's the friendliest Vulpix in the world. He can even sing."
Phillip backed away.
"Hey, there." Jackie waved to the Hoppip and smiled. "You feeling all right?"
