Goblin invasion has been fought off again, this time with two NPC survivors.
And I just visited Tropetopia, where I got myself some more pixie dust.
Our
companion site Heapers' Hangout is considering organizing a server, so
we could potentially join in the effort and have a pooled server or
something.
Terraria is basically like, the
bestworst thing for servicing my hoarding tendencies. My current inventory:
Weapons
I have a veritable armory.
Reserve weapons: Godly Chain Knife (13 melee damage; this ranged melee weapon was a random drop from a cave bat once and it is like the best thing ever, until it was way outclassed by the Muramasa), Space Gun (19 magic damage with autofire), Aqua Scepter (16 magic damage that I should just find some way to color yellow because it basically fires an arcing stream at things)
Other weapons: Annoying Copper Shortsword (4 melee damage, this insanely weak weapon was my starting weapon), Lead Broadsword (11 melee damage, my staple weapon before I got the Zombie Arm), Agile Zombie Arm (12 melee damage, my staple weapon before I got the Chain Knife), Muramasa (19 melee damage with autoswing; this finally knocked out the Chain Knife), Agile Bee Keeper (26 melee damage with autoswing and generating attack bees, and a small confusion chance; this knocked out the Muramasa), Deadly Blowpipe (10 ranged damage using seeds, random find in a chest) along with 244 seeds, three Flare Guns with a stack of 103 flares (random finds in chests), Unpleasant Trident (random find in a water chest), 276 javelins (from killing Hoplites), a Quick Falcon Blade, 227 Fallen Stars, a Malaise yo-yo with a choice of Red, Yellow, and Purple Counterweights, Superior Blue Moon (25 melee damage, basically a mace), two Wands of Sparking (8 magic damage), a Sapphire Staff that I crafted on a whim (17 magic damage), and 959 Spiky Balls (from repeatedly fighting off Goblin Invasions).
I'm happy to say that none of my NPCs have died yet. Though eventually I'll have to murder the Guide in order to spawn the Wall of Flesh boss.
Crafting and building materials
I should have stopped collecting anything other than gold ore a long time ago.
* 28 tin ore, 23 tin bars, 1 tin brick (my world didn't generate with tin so everything I have is from Slime Rain events and fishing crates, plus one brick from a Jungle Shrine that I never bothered to put back)
* 63 lead ore, 98 lead bars (I had more but I wanted to get rid of some so I made some lead doors with it lol)
* 10 iron ore, 16 iron bars (my world didn't generate with iron)
* 50 silver ore, 183 silver bars (silver is surprisingly useless once you move past that tier of equipment and have access to gold. you can't even make a Gold Pocketwatch with it, which is used in crafting something else; a Silver Pocketwatch can't be used for that recipe.) I stopped mining silver a long time ago.
* 68 tungsten ore, 12 tungsten bars (my world didn't generate with tungsten)
* 110 gold ore, 59 gold bars
* 72 platinum ore, 19 platinum bars (my world didn't generate with platinum)
* 849 meteorite, 15 meteorite bars, 100 meteorite brick (from completely mining out two meteorite strikes, and I've already spent some on a Meteor Hamaxe)
* 325 ebonstone blocks (from the Corruption)
* 238 demonite ore (from beating Eye of Cthulhu repeatedly)
* 28 shadow scales (times defeated the Eater of Worlds: 1. It's a really fun boss; unfortunately I have to go out of my way to get the ingredients for it.)
* common block types: 4089 Dirt Blocks, 1455 Stone Blocks, 298 Sand Blocks, 68 Silt Blocks, 134 Clay Blocks, 571 Mud Blocks, 443 Wood.
* 378 Rich Mahogany. I've set up a farm not for regular wood but for Rich Mahogany, because the Jungle is rather close to my starting location. I've used it as a renewable building resource.
* 674 Slime Blocks, 24 Slime Block Walls, 864 Slime Platforms. Once I beat King Slime, I had access to the Solidifier, which meant I could finally do something with the giant piles of gel I had. So now, slime blocks are another renewable building resource. This is something that wasn't in the old version I played.
* 304 Glowing Mushrooms, 12 Glowing Mushroom Walls, 1 Glowing Mushroom Platform. I came across an underground mushroom area very soon after starting my digging, so I collected a lot of these. Turns out that they can also be used as a building resource now. I eventually even made a surface-level Glowing Mushroom forest, between me and the Jungle.
* 542 Granite, 56 Smooth Granite Blocks. I got a bunch of these from killing Granite Elementals and Granite Golems. Another new feature, this is basically a small area in the cave, with its own dedicated background and stuff. Granite Blocks would be limited, except that they are dropped by themed enemies and thus are renewable.
* other building materials like glass and marble and more.
In my first file, I made a set of apartments using the cheapest materials possible -- dirt blocks and dirt walls. Many people go slightly more stylish but still basic, with wood and wood walls. But this time, I've been using Smooth Granite Blocks, Slime Blocks, Glowing Mushroom (blocks), and Smooth Marble Blocks for floors/ceilings/walls, Slime Block Platforms for jump-through floors and ceilings, and Rich Mahogany Walls, Slime Block Walls, Glass Walls (i.e. windows), and Glowing Mushroom Walls for the background walls.
Fun fact: Glowing Mushroom walls/floors glow in the dark.
Furniture
If only I'd known that the Dungeon has random chairs and tables and bookshelves and lamps and doors and other stuff lying around, I wouldn't have wasted so much of my time crafting my own. But oh well.
* I found a Living Wood Loom so I ended up making some furniture out of Living Wood (which costs normal wood but you just have to do it at the Living Wood Loom crafting station).
* Also made furniture out of Glowing Mushrooms and Slime. Also found some (regular wood) Work Benches and Iron Anvils and Glowing Mushroom Work Benches and Granite Work Bench and Granite Chair in the depths. Also found a Living Wood Table and Living Wood Chairs inside the Living Tree.
* And then I found Gothic Chairs and Gothic Bookshelves and also some Grandfather Clocks in the Dungeon. I also plundered a bunch of its doors. Pink Dungeon Doors look really silly. Also a Pink Dungeon Lamp.
* Even made a Granite Piano.
* Crafting stations I've found/made/bought: Work Bench, Anvil, Heavy Work Bench, Furnace, Table+Chair, Alchemy Station, Glass Kiln, Keg, Ice Machine, Solidifier, Bone Welder, Dye Vat, Loom, Sawmill, Sink.
* Ten different paintings, one of them in duplicate.
My "Apartment Complex" has a bathroom (with bathtub, toilet, and sink), a music room (with piano and three chairs), a library (with two chairs and a bookcase and a Bone Welder because I didn't feel like putting it elsewhere, and even something resembling a game room (Slime walls/platforms, two Gothic Chairs around a Gothic Table, and a Bewitching Table in the corner). All this is built beneath an "Outhouse"-like structure that was my first house (has several crafting stations, a toilet, and is located above what used to be basic ground level at my original spawn point).
The Neighbors (i.e. the NPCs)
I have all the pre-Hardmode NPCs already.
* Annabel the Stylist now lives in the outhouse, strangely enough.
* Seymour the Merchant lives out front, where I keep a Piggy Bank and also the Sawmill.
* Rosalva the Dryad lives near the top. Her room has a Furnace, a Granite Table, and a Living Wood Chair...probably the most incongruent combination overall.
* Bronson the Arms Dealer lives behind Rosalva; his room has a dresser, candelabra, and bed all made of Living Wood. His floor dips a bit so make the room big enough; otherwise it's a bit too cozy.
* Between Seymour and Rosalva are Luigi the Painter, who looks like Mario and enjoys some Glowing Mushroom furniture and a kiln, and Ahirom the Dye Trader whose room includes an Alchemy Table and a Living Wood Loom, though it's above the Dye Vat.
* The Demolitionist enjoys a tall room with a Marble Grandfather Clock, and a Dye Vat in the corner.
* The Goblin Tinkerer lives next to him, in the room with the Solidifier and an Anvil.
* Behind Ryan's room are two smaller rooms, a bathroom where Timmy the
Fetch-Quest GiverAngler constantly holes himself up, and James the Clothier enjoys a view through glass from his Living Wood Bed. Behind Timmy's bathroom is a chest containing the monsters I've caught.* Kaitlin the Nurse used to live on that level but now spends her time in the library.
* Ella the Mechanic lives on that third basement level, in a room with a bookshelf and the Ice Machine. Her room's walls and floors are made of Slime.
* Ernest the Tavernkeep lives behind Ella. His room's walls and floors are made of Glowing Mushroom. I gave his room a Keg.
* Opuni the Witch Doctor turns out to really like playing the piano, or just hangs out in the recital hall for fun. That room has Marble floors/walls and Glass background walls entirely (as opposed to just windows on other walls).
Animals, Fishing, and Plant/Animal/Monster Parts
[toggle]* I've caught a bunch of animals. These include Goldfish, Frogs, Ducks, Mallard Ducks, Birds, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Bunnies, Red Squirrels, Squirrels, Mice, a Golden Squirrel, nine butterfly types (Sulphur, Zebra Swallowtail, Red Admiral, Monarch, Julia, Ulysses, and one special Golden one), Fireflies, Grasshoppers, Buggies, Grubbies, Worms, Snails, and Slugs.
* Some of those I've used as bait for fishing. My fishing gear consists of the following: a full set of Angler clothes (which increase fishing skill), a Fleeting Angler Tackle Bag (combines guaranteed-not-to-break fishing line and two things that increase fishing skill and decrease bait consumption rate), a total of 73 pieces of artificial bait plus 121 pieces of insect bait. It actually takes me forever to use up bait so I need to stop catching random insects.
* Things I've fished include: 4 Stinkfish, 16 Neon Tetras, 44 Atlantic Cods, 10 Salmon (would be more except I made Sashimi out of some of them), 28 Specular Fish, 3 Armored Cavefish, 105 Bass (I need to make a pot to cook these sometime), 2 Tuna, 5 Trout, 1 Red Snapper, 94 Bomb Fish, 18 Frost Minnow, 5 Honeyfin (plus one I ate), and a Balloon Pufferfish, plus a bunch of quest fish that I gave the Angler. Also, fishing junk: 17 Seaweeds, 16 Old Shoes, and 10 Tin Cans.
* 114 Mushrooms, 12 Vines, 60 Cacti, 40 Stingers, 12 Jungle Spores, 2 Feathers, 2 Antlion Mandibles, 522 Pink Gel, 20 Acorns (not including the many I planted to get so much wood in the first place), 40 Waterleaf (and 18 Waterleaf Seeds), 21 Dayblooms (and 29 Daybloom Seeds), 36 Blinkroot (and 34 Blinkroot Seeds), 38 Deathweeds (and 30 Deathweed Seeds), 21 Shiverthorns (and 22 Shiverthorn Seeds), 20 Moonglows (and 18 Moonglow Seeds), 21 Jungle Grass Seeds (plus more I used to start my Rich Mahogany farm, 15 Mushroom Grass Seeds (plus more I used to start my surface Glowing Mushroom biome), also various honey/bee-related items. Also a Living Wood Wand and a Living Wood Leaf Wand, should I ever want to place Living Wood blocks and Living Leaf blocks.
Other stuff
* A giant pile of potions that I don't even want to bother counting.
* Stuff for making mechanisms -- wires, pressure plates, activatable stone blocks, dart traps, and more.
* A bunch of statues, some of which can be activated to do stuff.
* A pile of enemy banners, which you get for killing 50 of each type of enemy.
* A bunch of miscellaneous other stuff, from chests to gravestones (from my own deaths) to adventuring gear.
I still haven't reached the Underworld yet.
Also I'm waiting to get one thing from a Shark. Unfortunately Sharks only spawn at the very edges of the map. Also looking to get something from a Nymph. Both are crafting ingredients. I love how the Tinkerer's Workshop lets me combine useful accessories into things that have multiple uses.
