  • Like right now, the way it's being argued, there's an arguement that Troper Tales in theory could be a great and awesome thing, and I agree, but they're not taking in mind that there's a quantifiable difference between the potential of Troper Tales, and the Actual Troper tales being put up;

It's like the Theory of Communism argument, Good in theory, Impractical in practice.
  • But the theory of communism itself is full of holes...
  • The same could be said for Troper tales.

    Tropes in real life?

Did you know there's archived tropes for Mirror Universe?

    ~facepalm~

@Vorpy: FWIW, I don't think that you're a bad editor. Nor Madrugada. I just think the premise is flawed and it attracts way too much problem than its worth.

@Ivy: Just like cheese. And who doesn't love cheese? As such, I think Communism is wonderful.

  • @Vorpy: Does a few good Troper Tales validate the rest of the horrible and god-awful ones though?

The effort needed to remove those is almost balking to a lot of people, we have a whole lot of people already putting their hand into removing the bad ones and yet they keep cropping up.

How do you suggest a solution for this other than moving Troper tales off site?
  • If your arm is going to be lost to cancer, do you refuse because you have a few good cells left? Just think about it.
  • Hey guys, I have a question (This may or may not be copy-pasted because I'm a a lazy procrastinator

when you get another person in that thread, a new poster, who asks "Why
    can't we save it,
Or It's not that bad under the new system" Despite
this claim Already being answered dozens of times by dozens of other people with mountains of posts, don't tell me, because I won't be surprised.

I really wonder why the "supporters" are so set on keeping TT on TV Tropes. Some already made another site somewhere else, so they really have nothing to lose. The only reason I can think of is that they are complete fucking morons, but...

...Wait, I think I just answered my own question.

Also, is it wrong that I'm kinda losing respect for Madrugada for
    defending TT?

You are not alone. In fact, I lost a lot of respect for her.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
It's harder for them to Wiki Walk, y'know.
  • I think the TT defenders see TT going down as a blow to the TV Tropes identity, and that the offsite one just wouldn't be the same thing, and if TT goes down, that means the trolls win, and TV Tropes becomes Wikipedia. Stuff like that.

    So, I was right.

    ugh, m sanity is leaving.

Anyone wanna high jack my account and keep arguing in my name?

They'll be revered as a God.
  • Odd as it may sound, I'm quite confident we'll win this.
  • You can change. You can.
I'm confident this will end at some point. That's about it.

The votes lowered, but are still above 2:1.

I'm not confident in anything anymore.
  • You can change. You can.
Welp, I guess tomorrow I'll nuke my account, rate things are going.

    Night.
  • TT will be moved somewhere else, defenders don't like it when they have to clean up their own poop, well TOUGH.

Well, I think I made my point anyway...
  • I think I'll vote, everybody is doing it. See user title.

Also, the Troper Tales not being analogous to IJBM due one being a namespace and the other a forum actually works against Troper Tales, as a forum requires a larger active userbase to grow than a wiki, and that Troper Tales' content is being preserved. That, and IJBM's deletion was done with the expectation that it would die for good.

But on that note, if Troper Tales is deleted, may I ask that we don't gloat about it?
  • I don't care what happens to it after it's gone, I just want it gone. I still can't wrap around my head why deleting IJBM was a good idea (negative opinions? it will die on its own? HA) but removing TT takes careful consideration.
  • If I gloat, It'll be because Tvtropes has a future, and that it can discard remnants of itself that just aren't working and even detracting from the site's main purpose.

Welp, I guess tomorrow I'll nuke my account, rate things are going.

Why do I have the feeling that you will do that anyway...

To be honest, I was thinking of that myself. Although I won't do that. It went good as long as I could ignore it, but now that there is the possibility of TT's deletion, it's... I don't know how I should put it. I'm not as pessimistic as Juan, but if TT doesn't get cut, it will a heavy blow against TV Tropes. There is the very real possibility that more people will wander off. Central Avenue going would be... quite heavy. I always, since I began to visit the forum, associated him with TV Tropes. And Juan going isn't an appealing thought either.

Yeah, I won't immediately leave if TT stays, but it becomes more likely that I do that sometime in the future. In that case, I would leave IJBM too, since the two are still linked in my mind, but considering my past experiences with "leaving IJBM"...

On the other hand, if TT gets cut, there will probably be some people who will leave TV Tropes, just because of that. In that case, I can only say "Good riddance!"

But on that note, if Troper Tales is deleted, may I ask that we don't
    gloat about it?

Sorry, but I can't promise you anything. Maybe I'll try to stay on the "grim satisfaction" level, but, again, no promises.

I still can't wrap around my head why deleting IJBM was a good idea

It was because it created a lot of extra work for the mods. Which raises the question why TT was allowed to stay (probably because nobody actually did any work there, since it's futile anyway).

    Sure.
