  I am going to take an olympic gold-medalist level leap to conclusions and claim that this is part of the inevitable evolution that mirrors that of IJBM 1 on TVTropes, which can only end with our admin rage-deleting the forum in an epic final spurt of drama. Then a similar percentage of survivors will migrate to a new location to start IJBM 3, but since we have such a smaller base number of members to begin with, the new forum will be populated solely by Juan Carlos and CentralAvenue. (Not counting Chagen joining and then getting banned several months later, of course.) I'm sure everyone will agree that there is no other possible outcome to this chain of events.

What we're tired of are the threads that serve no purpose but the OP going "Hey guys, I made a pun!". I don't see why casual environments and courtesy can't coexist.

  This reminds me of a bit towards the end of The Lord Of The Rings. Frodo and Sam are on the fringes of Mount Doom after destroying the Ring. Frodo is giving in to despair. Sam holds fast to hope, and explains it to Frodo. He says that up in the sky are stars, and they're a kind of light that no darkness can touch. No matter what, all darkness passes and gives way to those glimmers. All clouds pass. I suppose it sounds sort of silly, but I always found it very heartwarming. Good old Sam.

  Yes. Although that's not so much the relevant point; she was trying to break free of the restrictions of her position in a failing kingdom by finding death on the battlefield. This is important because a huge theme in LotR is hope against despair, but Eowyn is an example of a heroic character who's completely thrown in the towel, and only wants to fight because there's a chance it'll end her life.
