  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    But not Flygon -sigh-

I never said you couldn't just use your favourites. I said you had to plan for Pseudos. For example, my favourite Pokemon is Steelix. That doesn't mean that I shouldn't plan for how to use Steelix against the various Pokemon that it's most likely to encounter.

Not much you can do to protect a Geodude :<
  • Using an unevolved pokemon is just asking for it.
  • It has Sturdy. Make use of that.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Or Golem. But I like some of the unevolveds better anyway -sigh-
  • That's why Gen 5 introduced Eviolite, for people just like you.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
My Good Rod is only catching Magikarp. What the hell?

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
On the list of Pseudo-Legendaries, I would add Volcarona it.

That's great. Because every single game is Gen 5. >:|

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^Nope. Its base stat total is 50 too low for that. It also isn't a third evolution.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
It's still more powerful that some Legendaries, incredibly rare, takes forever to raise, and is treated as a pseudo-legendary in-universe.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    So it's a pseudopseudolegendary.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
No, it's a pseudo legendary. Just not as the fanspeak term has defined it- it's treated as one narratively, rather than being a meta example.

    SEXY GARCHOMP IS SEXY

Also, I guess the invention of tiers was a good thing for the PvP battling scene.  Because then suddenly parasect actually means something.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I just wanted to say pseudopseudolegendary.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    hehehe
  • If that don't work, use more gun.
I wonder if Gray or whatever the 3rd version is called will expand upon Volcarona.

I just consider it a really powerful Pokemon, not  a pseudo legendary.

Hm, another thing I heard about Black/White is that they apparently have a much better story than the other gens, with real conflict and well-defined characters.

Of course, I heard this on TVTropes, so I should take it with a grain of salt.

    Why aren't starters pseudolegendary?

They don't ever occur in the wild.

    At least not in RBY.

Fun fact: You can get all three RB starters in Y.

    ^ "reap conflict"?  Huh?

Also, 5 grains of salt.  And some vinegar for pickling.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Starters don't usually have 170 anything at level 50.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Yes.

    In comparison.

^^^That's not what Pseudolegendary means. It means having 1250000 XP at level 100, having three evolutions, the highest of which takes a really high level to achieve, and having a stat total of 600.

    Or being Volcarona.
  • Okay, so it's still and Excuse Plot? Just a slightly better one?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Yeah. It's one where you can find yourself caring.
  • ....But you usually don't care about Excuse Plots.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I don't think they've had actual Excuse Plots since Gen III. Which isn't to say that plot took a priority.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
....But you usually don't care about Excuse Plots.

    Emphasis on 'usually'.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
I think B/W plot has graduated beyond Excuse Plot levels. It's not much when compared to other RPGs but it's leaps and bounds above other Pokemon games. And they tried to teach moral relativism, albeit clumsily, which was charming.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^Again, I don't think it was an excuse plot even as of Gen. 3.

I define "excuse plot" as "no more story than needed to tell the player to go do something."

Oh, pseudolegendary has a stat qualification?

I guess so, and I guess it's different from tiers.

So smeargol smeargle is OU-tier but not even pseudolegendary at all.  Got it.
