^ Eh, my other Pokemon do a good job of that as is

A Furret (I allowed myself one dreamworld Pokemon), a Zoroark, a Stoutland (After losing all but a boxed Pokemon (a Lillipup) to the second gym leader, I keep that mutt 7 levels above the predicted max level of the gym leader, and the others at the predicted level. Extra work, but seeing as how the finale for the run is a battle against an Arceus that has max IVs, is EV trained, and is allowed to use the wonder thing in the battle while I can't...), a Darumaka, a Krokorok, and a Maractus/Leavenny (I switch them around), well...

I can't get past Whitney in SoulSilver and I have no idea how Pokemon strategy works.

My usual strategy is simply lowering accuracy or defense until they can't hit me/are made of glass and then wailing on them, but that doesn't seem to be working here...
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
Anything in-game can be overcome by brute force and exploiting weaknesses. For Whitney, I think you can get a Machop by that point in the game.
  • Go back to Union Cave, catch a Geodude snd level the shit out of it. That should help.

Where? I haven't found any in the grass or forest.

Nevermind I was thinking of Diamond. Yeah, you'd want to get a Geodude or that traded Onix.
  • The machop is available for trade from someone at the top of the Goldenrod PokeMart. They're looking fof a Drowzee.
  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
Ooh, I have one of those...
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
If you do trade for the Machop, get another Drowzee. It'll come in handy for catching.

Get Dig in National Park as well

That screws up her Roll Out

Also, do you have Defense Curl or Double Team? If so, let the Pokemon with that move set up on Clefairy

Remember, the threat from Miltank is Flinchhax and Rollout
  • Also in Gen 4 her Miltank has Scrappy. So don't count onusing a Ghost to absorb her attacks.

You shouldn't even need a ghost type

Heck, back in the days of GSC, when I wasn't as good, I beat her using just my Quilava and his Dig

Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Fun fact: I was once totally confused as to why sudowoodo was not weak to my cyndaquil's fire-type attacks.

Question: Is there any competitive battling format whose restriction is that TM (or even TM and HM) moves may not be used?

Ideally, just barring TM moves.  Basically, that your movesets must be all-natural, except possibly HM moves used to get around.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
No, I've never heard of that.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    That kinda sucks.

See I think there should be a format like that because that's basically how you'd encounter opponent trainers in-game anyway.  As opposed to crazily prepping your team, you're just walking around hunting for more pokeymanz and someone !'s above their head and challenges you to a battle.  So the mons you would have would be your traveling pack, not some uber-prepped lineup.

    Trying to catch Feebas is...obnoxious.
  • I want your hard, feathery cock, Bird Boy.
The Feebas line is one of my favorites, aesthetically.

I'm glad gen 5 put a stop to that bullshit. Feebas itself was a good idea, but who ever thought up the catching and evolution method needs to be shot.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
What's feebas's catching and evolution methods?
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Find a tile, and camp it for a Feebas to spawn (1 hidden tile that you have no idea which one it is), and then you make poffins/pkblks out of certain berries, to maximize Feebas' beauty. When it's high enough, it will evolve into Milotic.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Feebas is found in a few randomly-selected tiles on a massive lake. In Platinum, the tiles change daily.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
Oh, that sounds like it really sucks.

How frequent is its appearance rate on those tiles?  100% once you step on them?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Nope. It's 35% chance if you fish on them.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
  • I want your hard, feathery cock, Bird Boy.
It's a good thing Milotic is a good Pokemon, or this would all be complete bullshit.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
It's still inferior to Gyarados unfortunately.
  • I want your hard, feathery cock, Bird Boy.
They don't serve the same purposes so that doesn't matter.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
    Milotic's non-4xweakness is a bit of a blessing though.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I'm a completionist. It doesn't matter if it's good or not; I need one.
