I don't know what portion of this conversation is serious, but my favorite manga would be 20th Century Boys.
I'm liking Vinland Saga so far.
@All Nines One Piece....well it's definitely not trash and it's pretty well-thought out, but it doesn't appeal to me. I was kidding about Naruto, yeah. But I do enjoy that manga still. So, it's doing its job which is to entertain me.
Fair enough.
I read it for a while, but I thought it fizzled pretty badly after the timeskip, progressively dropping more and more characters from relevance and overcentralizing on the Uchihas and eyehax. I stopped when Sasuke was in the Land of Lightning. But I'll grant that it's much better than Bleach, and it seems that the recent flashback is actually pretty sensible.
Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.
However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.
Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.
copypas...?
> Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/
Yup
Definitely copypasta.
Well, I really love copypasta. I especially like /jp/'s Aikido Master series
^^ It's more just something you post in Naruto threads as a way of derailing the thread via shitposting, to drive out people who want to talk about Naruto, to prevent more Naruto threads being made in the future.
In practice all it really does though is it encourages trolls to make more Naruto threads.
could be worse
could be /b/
Hey guys.
How does the Claymore manga compare to the anime?
/a/ also hates Toonami.
So fuck /a/.
/a/ hates Toonami because it has like five shows, all of which everyone on /a/ has either already seen or doesn't care about, and it attracts the kind of people who do the whole "Cowboy Bebop is the best anime ever, why can't anime be like it was back in the 90's, everything now is shit" thing.
You realize that "having like five shows" makes perfect sense for a block that is uh, y'know, a block. Rather than an entire network?
And no it really has gone out of its way to avoid appealing to the LOL90SKIDS fuckers. Those are the people who hate Toonami because Dragonball Z isn't on it.
Cowboy Bebop is the only show on the block that's old enough to be considered retro at all. The other stuff is either fairly recent or only old out of necessity.
There's also two CN reruns on now (Symbionic Titan and ThunderCats 2011) but I doubt that's anything /a/ would care about since it's not precious animoos.
(also the only people who care about what /a/ has seen as a measure of its quality is /a/, so yeah)
It's better. The anime's ending is all kinds of stupid, which might have been acceptable had they simply ended the series there. But not only did they diverge pointlessly, the anime was set up for a continuation anyway. The manga isn't Shakespeare by a long shot, mind, but it's at least a bit more sensible and, I feel, a fair bit better at manipulating tension.
^^ It also has Ghost in the Shell. And obviously /a/ wouldn't care about a Western cartoon because /a/ isn't the board for talking about that. /co/ is for that. And having a zillion weekly threads for a show that aired years ago is generally seen as a problem (and yes, people do actually complain about the constant "wtf did I just watch" EVA threads and iM@S generals and stuff. And then there's the general "If you aren't watching anime optimally (MPC-HC+LAV Splitter+MadVR, etc.) , then why are you even on /a/?" mentality which admittedly is kind of silly but nevertheless is relevant since really there's not usually much of a reason to watch anime on TV when you could just download BD rips and not have to deal with commercials or watching only at a specific time and get better quality etc.
Yeah see that entire philosophy of watching sort of goes against what Toonami is doing.
It's cult tv, let it be cult tv.
It doesn't have to present NEW AND CUTTING EDGE ALL THE TIME HI-FI NO COMMERCIAL BREAKS SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Indeed that's defeating half the point of Toonami. Half the point of Toonami being the stuff in-between the shows.
Right, but /a/ doesn't care about that.
Because it isn't anime.
And /a/ is a board about anime.
/a/ actively hates on the block. There's a difference between that and not caring about it.
There was even a period of time when someone on the board was organizing raids on Toonami livestreams to get them shut down.
/a/ is not one person.
Some people actively hate it.
But the vast majority don't care and just don't want /a/ to be full of Toonami threads.
You see that sort of thing whenever there's anything that gets negative attention on /a/ (or other boards on 4chan), but it's always just a small minority of people who actually care that much (and maybe another additional small minority that just gets caught up in it even if they wouldn't care otherwise).
I'm pretty sure this entire conversation stops making sense if you pull out the "/a/ isn't just one person" card.
I mean, you've been speaking of it as a singular entity too.
I did start it, so I'm to blame there. But you could have brought that up a little earlier if we were going to not make that conceit at all.
^^ You seem a bit defensive about the matter. I mean, we all recognise that /a/ is made up of many people, and that the bloc behaviour of certain factions is not universal, but getting offended at observations about notable bloc behaviour there (and throughout 4chan) strikes me as... counterproductive, I guess?
What are these /a/ /b/ /c/s you speak of?
What they replaced Casshern Sins? But it looked sort of cool in an empty sort of way.
Anyways, another manga I like is Vagabond. I tend to read the chapters in blocks. And well, I don't care about Musashi's rival. What's his face? Grrrr. Anyone want to help me out?
The entirety of 4chan is.
"/whatever/ is not a hivemind" is thrown around a lot. There are a lot of varied opinion on the board.
> implying that any board that isn't /tg/ is worth anyone's time
The only thing anyone at 4chan can seem to actually agree on is that "fag" is a suffix, and that it's on the end of every word.
>implying that /tg/ isn't overrun by fa/tg/uys who will one day choke on their own vomit.
I won't say /co/ is perfect, but it is a lovely way to find images and fanart.
@Lazuli: Why is Girls und panzer such a dumb title?
>Actually discussing which 4chan boards are better than others
