I agree with all of this, but either way, it was doomed from the start for it was not meant to be some sort genre redifintion series nor a pandering fest.
MFW JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is really just Castlevania meets Fist of the North Star. Its about a family of bishie buff ass muscle frogs fighting the same fucking vampire for over 7 generations.
Hahahhaahhahahaa, no. Not really, Dio only appears in two of the generations, after Stardust Crusaders, the rest of the generations are self-contained stories which are linked by the Joestar bloodline.
TBH, i was just quoting what my friend said when we were watching episodes 1-3 of Jojo. When I was trying to argue him out of it, I was like "oh god... OH GOD." But yeah, you're right.
He also forced us to watch this deliberately bad subbing XD
*reads tvt entry*
... Ah, okay, that HAS been observed before.
DUWANGS subs I guess. My friend watches it too.
Doki Doki Precure? Not much you can tell from a name, but at least we're close to yet another yearly announcement.
Speaking of Jojo's, I saw a figurine once while I was browsing online of a purple man dressed in what I can only describe as a silver/prrple-ish thong and bikini (though it may have been a weirdly designed breastplate), does this guy actually appear in-show?
> doki doki precure
> my first thought: Super Mario Bros. 2 (a.k.a. SMBUSA)
...deedoo, deedoo, deedoo, deedoo doo doo!
here comes another rainbow earthquake ebrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr
Sword Art Online 16: Great setup so far, even with the really creepy last episode. Allfheim as a whole seems to be an improvement over Sword Art. Then again, anything where you're not thinking "Wow, this plot is stupid" is good. Also, no seven harem episodes before the plot starts.
> anything where you're not thinking "this plot is stupid" is good
That's a pretty low standard.
Sword Art Online forces you to set your standards low.
Compared to how horrible episodes 14 and 15 were, non-offensive is practically the best SAO can do.
Yuki Kaijura is still showing how much she can do with the awesome theme songs but the soundtrack is even less noticeable than Blast of Tempest's, which is really sad.
That would be Wammu from Part 2: Battle Tendency, if everything goes as schedule, they will animate that arc too. and the main character will be voiced by Sugita! SUGITA!
Shouldn't it be Wham?
Wait, it's Wamuu, got the double letter mixed up. Although there is a villian in that arc that's called Esidisi so who knows?
Because Eisidisi would have gotten them in trouble?
No, Esidisi. That's the name.
He will always be known as ACDC to me. ;_;
Wouldn't "Esidisi" be "SCDC" or "SEDC"?
I recall that he was indeed named after the band ACDC.
But he forgot the lightning bolt...
Actually no. Esidisi is like that because it shortens the A syllable. And Esidisi would be ECDC otherwise.
"Esidisi" is a romanization of エシディシ, which is a contracted version of エーシーディーシー, which is ACDC in hiragana.
I've been thinking about Aniplex's new licenses (Sword Art Online, Magi and Zetsuen no Tempest) and how different they seem to be from their previous ones. They're easier to market (SAO and Tempest reach to both stereotypically male and female audiences easily, Magi is easy to sell to kids) and they're all series that could be aired on TV (though SAO might need a re-ordering of episodes, but if it stayed the same it would be 'accessible' as a weekly show too).
This might seem a little far-fetched, but they might actually be looking to do wide distribution (not just hobby stores, amazon and rightstuf, but very mainstream teenage demographic stores), non-special edition sets (maybe with 4 episodes at a time but very cheap thinpaks) for these shows.
I know you might say "Why didn't they do this with Madoka?", but Madoka honestly isn't marketable to anybody who isn't a long-time anime fan or has spent time with one. You can't sell it to little girls because of the obvious, and no stereotypically male interest store would carry it (plus it's a little too myth-arc based to be marketed that way for long). SAO could be sold as both an action series and a love story, Zetsuen no Tempest could be sold as a mystery (loose use of the term), action series and a love story and Magi is basically "Magic, fun and action!" which is what kids love (or at least parents what parents think kids love).
Thoughts?
Graaah how long until the finally sub Joshiraku's last three episode.
In any case, so far the best anime of the season is Jojo.
Robotics; Notes is good if a little slow, but it's an engaging slow. Chuunibyou is pretty standard cutesy comedy animu but some of the subversions, like the supposedly perfect girl being a reputation-obsessed bitch are nice subversions.
Forever.
No, it's just boring and the characters are unbearable.
Chuunibyou is a kind of disappointing. It just seems really bland and the characters are mostly boring. Except for Kumin. She's great. On the other hand, Sanae and Shinka both seem pretty redundant. Sanae is just Rikka except with twintails and デス, and Shinka seems like she's just turning into genderflipped Yuuta, now that her role as sort-of-antagonist is seemingly over. And I think overall the show would be a lot more interesting if it actually were a romantic comedy like it said it was supposed to be, and not just a cute girls do delusional things show. Though maybe it'll change somewhat later on.
... I now know how Orpheus felt right before the Furies tore him to pieces.
I'mma bring the Fury, all right. >:?
I don't think there's anything wrong with liking K-On, but the second you admit to liking it, you can no longer criticize a show for being boring and having unbearable characters without looking like a hypocrite to some.
That is, unfortunately, what taste is all about.
Yep. As long as there's a mutual understanding of different tastes on all sides, I'm fine with that.
