JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJJJJJJJJJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Speaking of looking familiar, WIXOSS feels hilariously derivative. I'm not sure if it's trying to ape My-HiME, the Fate franchise, Kamen Rider Ryuki or Madoka Magica, (maybe it's all of those plus a dozen other things) but it is too amusing.

Blade and Soul seems to be too serious a story for an MMO anime where people have holes cut in their clothing to show off more skin.
> Arpeggio of Blue Steel English Sub
no, it's a Foggian Sub
Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio -Ars Nova- musings
Kirishima, beyond her Koda Kumi ero-kakkoi looks, has developed a very angry fighting style. In contrast to Haruna, it makes her seem less in-tune with herself (ie. her humanity) but the truth is she’s more accepting of herself because of her emotions. Even before they go out of control, she’s very wild. But she’s not just crazy, her wild nature is paired with a sense of loyalty to the Fog, she repeats why they’re better than humans to Haruna over and over. This is where the main difference between Kirishima and Takae stems from; Kirishima doesn’t have the romanticism and love for battle that Takae does. Kirishima’s struggle stems from her loyalties and who she cares about. Again, we come to the point where she’s no longer acting logical but her point comes far before the battle with I-401. She just doesn’t notice, even when she sacrifices herself to save Haruna she’s so overcome with her emotions that she doesn’t acknowledge that what she’s done is in spite of the Fog’s condition of acting logically and strategically.
Kirishima isn’t a very cerebral person (a good example of this is her failiure to understand why Haruna is protecting Makie so vehemently and listening to Makie’s requests so readily), so her evolution follows suit. When she hears Makie’s reasons for running away from Haruna she’s touched and because she hasn’t seen herself as a weapon for so long despite her own claims and ideals, she’s able to accept Makie and Haruna’s feelings very readily. Her growth is not a result of an acknowledged personal journey, it’s her loyalties changing to benefit her in a very nuanced manner.
Haruna at first glance seems to be the one whose more in-tune with herself and her interests, but it’s telling that she’s so distant even in battle. Haruna has never realized it but she’s never actually acknowledged the forces that they face in battle (in contrast to Takae who merely sees battle as a fact of her life and acknowledges her opponents, albeit mostly casually and Kirishima, who fights because she’s loyal and wishes to protect those she’s loyal to). She treats them as a resource, but fails to acknowledge their lives. It’s also because of this distance that she’s able to observe Kirishima so keenly during their fight; there’s a level to Kirishima that she’s refusing to acknowledge (note that she says “emotion emulators” when she talks about how angry Kirishima has gotten).
When she meets Makie, she’s unconsciously forced to acknowledge that humans are alive (again, note how she does not allow the term “die” and is always clarifying it’s meaning during battle). Makie is kind to her, treats her like a friend and calls her “the same” (and even though this line does take a darker note later, it does not remove from its meaning in the context of their conversation). Aside from Makie, she’s forced to acknowledge a very complex emotion when she meets Makie’s father. As much as she as Kirishima try to explain it away as being a human thing, this is the moment at which Haruna starts putting faces and lives to those she’s fighting. I think there’s an emphasis placed on this in the setting of this arc; before this no Mental Model aside from Iona and Takae, both defectors, has been on land. It also brings to light exactly why the Mental Models are not allowed on land. It’s not just battle against a submarine, there are people on that submarine who have people caring about them in a web that stretches across entire communities and lives.
This is brought to light when Makie tells her not to kill anyone, even if Haruna is trying to protect her. And then comes the most important part: That web, those people who have people caring for them, she’s put in that position because she now has somebody of her own to protect. And not just Makie, Kirishima is right there with them (and she shows great empathy in taking a second to include her in her petition for friendship to Makie). Haruna was put in a situation where no matter who, what or where it even came from, she has somebody she can’t bear the thought of losing, and that is where her very essence as an individual stems from.

starfish!
starfish!
starfish!
epic win!
re:third one; that's cheating, you never even watched Wooser.
Also,
forever the best starfish.
also, which third image? (since I edited my post)
I mean the current third one, but I'm sorry, I was wrong. I thought it was the end card for episode 2 of Wooser no Sono Higurashi: Kakusei-hen, but it's not. This illustration is an end card for Arpeggio by Wooser's character designer and the one I'm thinking of is an illustration of Wooser characters by Arpeggio's character designer. The one who cheated and saw end cards early was actually me! since I was only confused because I'd already seen that picture you posted before despite not having watched episode 2 of Arpeggio yet.
In any case, Chitose is easily the worst character to ever be associated with starfish and she absolutely deserves to have starfish inadvertently hit her when they get thrown in her vicinity.
Oh, I see.
bonus image:
...is it just me, or is Nana Mizuki singing way better than the other three singers?
(by virtue of being in tune, mainly)

This is a nice wallpaper that Arpeggio fans will recognize and that you can also show off to people who don't know what it is (without getting questions of why you have a little anime girl as your wallpaper). It's also pretty stylish in its own right, without being too distracting.

I think one problem with anisong is that it can get quite repetitive, stylistically and harmonically. That IV V iii vi is popping up everywhere...sure, I'm inherently okay with it, but it does become a little noticeable when I can practically predict how a song is going to go, structurally.
I don't know if this is a problem with J-pop as a whole, but considering that it happens in A-pop too, I wouldn't be surprised.
I did not know that there was a live-action version of Nodame Cantabile.
I also did not see
I just now realized that that stalk of hair on Tsubasa's head (in Symphogear) vaguely resembles the stem and tail of an eighth-note.
Still can't figure out how the hell that hair stays up in that weird kink like that.
From Ojamajo Doremi, Onpu Segawa's hair is a similar way. (and I guess because they really aren't going for subtlety, "onpu" means "musical note")
But it just curves over like real hair would. So it actually looks believable.
In contrast...
Maybe there's a vertical peg or something in that hair dec that makes her hair stand up like that.
Are you seriously trying to rationalize anime hair physics?
You have a point.
Anyway.
In episode 15 of Nodame Cantabile, for some reason, it seems that the English voices suddenly started sucking. Some of them, at least. Nodame's English voice continues to be far better than her Japanese voice, though. Shinichi's "tired of dealing with this bullshit" English voice is also good, as usual. But the little girl just sounds weird in English.
At least the drama scene with Nodame's new teacher was done decently.
> "For now, we're the no-name orchestra."
Awesome! Here are the parts for the OPs and EDs for AKB0048. Enjoy!
The same sound effect that's used by Steam for IM "someone said something" notifications, also occurs twice in Stellvia of the Universe, episode 13, just past the 6:40 mark.
Also, from this random rewatching, I'm just now remembering how much feels are symbolized by that konpeito.
female lead appears to wear pants, rather than skirt plus thigh-high stockings that inexplicably leave a patch of skin exposed on the thighs
seal of approval tenatively granted
Buy a PS3 and play it then.
But you have to play the first game in the series as well because if you don't nothing makes sense.
Also I just started playing Tales of Symphonia Chronicles and I have the weird need to mention I don't like the ver. 2013 of this song as much as the original. Mostly because it kind of gets rid of the entire song and uses a new arrangement.
It's not a surprise for me to like only one version of a song, especially if they change the harmonies or general style of the piece radically.
Anyhow, I actually have a GameCube so playing Symphonia might actually be possible.
Symphonia is the original, this is the sequel and the only other version is on the Wii.
I know.
And Wii games are compatible with the WiiU, right? Since I have a Cube already I might get that instead of a Wii.
Apparently.
Anyways this is the anime thread!
So I'm going to talk about music.
The details for the Aikatsu! second season mini album were revealed a few days ago and I'm pretty excited for the line up, the cover is cute too, though it's odd that they chose such a dynamic pose for Mizuki and Mikuru compared to the last two covers which were really more mellow.
After two episodes of Coppelion, it appears to me that this show is episodic in nature and the episodes seem to be more separate stories to be enjoyed in small doses rather than an overarching plot. But I'm only 2 of 13 episodes in.
