  • Kichigai birthday!!

So the cool thing happens here and I miss it? Bluh

  • Has friends besides tanks now

Finished AnoHana. That was legitimately the most beautiful anime I've seen.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I definitely agree. That's partially due to stuff that was going on in my life when it came out, though to what extent I can't be sure.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

    Beautiful anime, huh?

Gotta go with Basilisk, haven't watched AnoHana so I can't comment.

    Has friends besides tanks now

^^ I don't really have any experiences like that to go with it, but aside from just the weight of the show's drama, I really enjoyed how I could look at almost any moment of the show and defend it to someone if they didn't get it, or if they were frustrated by it for whatever reason, because it did just about everything right and that was apparent to me. Eventually I looked at it from the point of view of someone who's considering recommending it to Anime Club next year. Even if the drama was a little forced at times, the series's execution was amazing.

^ I take it you mean artistically? I can't comment on Basilisk, though I get the impression that it's mostly lots of violence, but in AnoHana's case, I meant the story that was told; I've seen at least a few series that are "prettier", if not even better animated.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

If you want an anime with a beautiful plot and such go watch RahXephon. Yes, I'm aware it's a show about a giant singing robot, but I still find it great.

  • I know this is late, but if I had $31,000 dollars spare I'd pay my landlord for a new alarm system in this block that doesn't keep malfunctioning...

  • You can change. You can.

I'll second this. RahXephon needs more love because it's a really really welldone anime, if not entirely original.

My dad just got a really fancy bike.

The model, hilariously, is called the SuperFly. What were the marketing people on when they named it?

^^ I should watch that at some point...

  • Finally not fucking homeless! GO ME!

    Here, There, Everywhere

    Yay!

  • AnoHana was good, but, even just from the same director, I preferred Toradora! and Railgun.  That said, Toradora! and Railgun were both exceptionally good anime so it's not like it's a bad thing for Anohana to be slightly less enjoyable than them.

    Crake thinks I'm Myrmidon's sock-puppet. It's kind of funny.

So, watched the first episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Not entirely new, since I read the first volume of the manga (the one that retells the anime), so I wasn't surprised that I didn't found it bad. Not that I expected to dislike it.

But are all the appearances of witches so trippy?

  • JHMJHM
    Here, There, Everywhere

^ Yes, they are. Really trippy.

  • You can change. You can.

The main draw of Madoka (For me) was the surrealist animation, really.

Skimming over the back of my Canaan DVD, I saw this little bit: "Meanwhile, Maria gets kidnapped by a Boner" (not sure if spoiler-worthy, but just in case). It was in German, so one can be sure that "Boner" is the name of something, but still I nearly had to make a double-take when I read that.

    Here, There, Everywhere

^^ I love the art design for that show. The people who made it are just so twisted.

    It's mostly Shinbo being Shinbo.

Not that that really contradicts what you said though, I guess.

As for surrealist animation, I just watched Mind Game yesterday.  Was probably the... zaniest, I guess... animated film I've ever seen, if nothing else.  Actually, I thought it was pretty excellent overall, even if it was kind of heavy-handed at times.

  • JHMJHM
    Here, There, Everywhere

Yeah, Shinbo's pretty demented. I enjoy his work.

Mind Game. Hmm... I am intrigued. Very intrigued.

I read about it in a magazine, years ago and I think I saw it in my local manga/anime store (could be that I confuse it with another short film anthology by different directors, which I read about in a magazine). Maybe I should get it some time. Apparently, Satoshi Kon liked it, which is a good sign.

  • No rainbow star

With Grelod, I used a character that was somewhat peaceful (she's only attack if you were imperial or a threat to her) but due to the werewolf side would be prone to random fits of rage

So I decided to have her rage on Grelod with her bare hands. Instead of a simple punch, she grabbed Grelod and started bashing her face in over and over again

So yeah, one of my characters is really psychotic

The mere mention of Satoshi Kon is generally a good sign.

  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

Everest, I meant, the fights in basilisk are part of the appeal but most of its appeal is that it is a romance tragedy.

Actually played a bit of Fallout 2. The thing with the rats isn't as bad as I thought, but I still miss a lot and can consider myself lucky when I get a hit chance of 40%. But I discovered that it's higher when I try to kick them, than when I try to slash them with a knife.

But I also discovered that mere molerats can be quite dangerous for me.

I don't envy the day when someone has to give the order to shoot down a hijacked passenger plane over a city before it hits a target

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

IJBM: I saw this and now I want to take up chainmailing, but I don't want to spend $30 on the materials for it and then never finish.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

I suggest you take up chainmailing; you could be the IJBM armourer!

  • Champion of the Whales

Oh wow, its a 100 days till the London Olympics

Something will go wrong during the Olympics, trust me
