Don't worry too much about it. The cling ring lets you have 75% of your health when in soul form rather than 50%, which is an absolute godsend.
Also, I hope you spent some of your souls levelling up with the Maiden in Black before dying. :x
There are also items called "Stone of Ephemeral Eyes", if my memory of their name is correct, which restore you to body form. I stockpiled them, and had about 30 or so by the endgame. So you don't need to revive via defeating a boss only, but getting into body form from soul form is still something of an abstract goal at times.
I did spend my Souls leveling, yeah.
My advice on what to do after beating Phalanx and getting the cling ring: go to world 4-1. This world...isn't easy, but it's exploitable and the payoff (access to the game's biggest grinding spot) is worth it.
The first set of enemies consists of skeletons who roll at you and attack. At this stage, they can probably one or two-shot you, but if you learn the timing for them, they won't have a chance. Dual-wield your weapon, and right before they get to you, power attack, then do a few normal attacks. That should handle them.
Later, there'll be two of them at once; It should be possible to aggro one at a time.
Anyway, you're heading to this big wall, through which you can see the Vanguard. Don't fight him. Instead, head to the left (hold up your shield while walking down this hall; there's an arrow trap) and up the stairs and across the wall. On the other side, the guardrail thing is a bit crumbled, and if you unequip your gear, you can roll onto it with practice. Dropping from there takes you right near the end of the level. Go from there.
Right before the boss, there's a red knight. This is the one really difficult bit. It took me something like fifteen tries to get past him, and I don't remember how I did that.
The boss is the Adjudicator. It's apparently possible to shoot him from the top level out of range of his long tongue, but that's never actually worked for me. You'll want to hug the wall and get to the ground as fast as possible if you're going to melee him. Then, notice the meat cleaver embedded on one of his sides. That's the first of his two weak spots. If you stay right against him to the right (your right) of that, his main attack should go over your head. His other attack might still hit you, but it's pretty telegraphed -- be careful.
He can probably one-shot you, so dual-wield. Attack the meat cleaver, and after a bit, he should fall over, revealing the bird nesting on his head. That's the real weak spot. Attack it as much as you can before he gets up.
Anyway, once you get to 4-2, a very short way into the level, before you have to fight any other enemies, is a tomb containing Death and his transparent minions. If you kill him with a bow, they all die too, and you get an absurd number of souls (also, Death's reaction to being killed is hilarious). If you're grinding, you can do that, roll off the cliff at the level entrance, get your bloodstain, do it again, and repeat as many times as needed. This spot will help you out of a lot of jams, and is probably the reason why Dark Souls doesn't really have any good grinding spots.
I was supposed to head to the florist in 20 minutes to do deliveries for them, but they called and said that a bunch of their orders had been cancelled because of the incoming severe weather, so I don't need to work. Oh, well. More free time today, then.
>mfw I drew Van Darkholme saying Fuck You in Doodle or Die and the guy replied with "What is this I don't even"
I weep for the people that don't know about the DEEP♂DARK♂FANTASY
Quick, question: Is Batman and Robin worth it past Grant Morrison's run?
And next person to pm me a Batman Inc link gets all of my love
>order penis and tit lollipops for frat's upcoming party
>wasn't home, they get delivered to the neighbour
The packaging is discreet so he would probably never figure out the contents, but this'll be delightfully awkward.
>No pausing
Lolwut?
In other news, finally got some free time from college. I'll be up for Pokemon Online and UMvC3 in the following weekend.
^It's an online game, so pausing wouldn't really work.
I can pause Nethack!
:PPPPP
Okay IJBM,
I have 3 games that I want to play but I don't know which one I should play.
The choices are: Demon's Souls, Final Fantasy 9 or Dragon Age: Origins.
I'd say DS, then DA:O.
I don't play much FF, so I can't really comment on it.
FF. Because FF.
FF9 first as it is the best of the entire series.
Not helping >.<
This Buridan's ass is affecting me
I've never really understood what was so good about FF. The only FF game I've played more than an hour of before getting bored was 4, and even then I didn't stick around for the ending.
In other news, I am now going to write terrible fanfiction of an obscure doujin shmup because a bot told me to. Best plan.
> I have 3 games that I want to play but I don't know which one I should play. The choices are: Demon's Souls, Final Fantasy 9 or Dragon Age: Origins.
Clearly, you should play [game that I like that is not even remotely in your list].
You should play Final Fantasy 9, one of the only four good FF games.
You should play Final Fantasy IX because Dragon Age sucks (by which I mean I got bored in the opening and didn't bother finding out if it gets any better, so it might not suck I guess) and I never played Demon's Souls so I don't have an opinion on it.
I don't have that.
New Vegas it is then
After that topic Ian posted where David Cameron equated stocking supermarket shelves to college, I initially wondered why people voted for him. Then I remembered that Britons constantly complain that all the parties are the same. Is it really that bad over there?
But New Vegas ∉ games that I like.
^ Probably FFIV, FFV, and FFVI. Or FFVII, FFX, and FFVI. Or FFIV, FFVI, and FFX. Or FFVII, FFX, and FFT.
Or FFII, FFXI, and FFX-2.
I wouldn't say they are exactly the same however the parties have become more and more similar, as labour used to be nice and socialist-y but is closer to the conservative party in policy/ideals now really.
The green party are pretty cool though.
^^
Lol Irony?
>Complaints about all parties being the same
>Immediatelly thinks it is about college parties
Wow, I'm shallow.
