Looking over it, you're right that that's the case, but they have used vague statements about free games in a lot of the publicity.
The thing is, though, that they've said that they're releasing it in less than a year, but haven't yet finalized anything about it beyond "console that uses Android."
I'm skeptical about skeptics.
And?
I really just don't get this. Of course it's not going to be as good as they say it is, nothing is ever as good as its marketed as.
But I don't know why this surprises people and why they go the opposite direction of IT'S GOING TO BE THE WORST THING EVER!!!!!
For another example see: most people's reaction to Toonami coming back.
And...not knowing what you're going to be releasing when you're going to be releasing it very soon is not a good thing.
You actually believe it'll be out next year?
According to them, it will be released in March.
Yeah, the "according to them" is the keyword here.
One thing I am very skeptical of is launch dates. It'll probably be pushed back at least once.
Still, the fact that they think they can release a console by March when they haven't even decided on the hardware yet (but seem to be shooting for something that can run modern AAA games but costs under $100) is not filling me with confidence.
I'm not exactly totally confident in their abilities either.
Yet, I'd still totally donate money to the kickstarter if I could (I cannot because, well, I have no money). I'm not exactly a gambling man, but I don't think there's much harm in taking a chance on something like this.
That's just how I see things.
Well...I'm fine with donating to smaller kickstarters, like an indie game for $15, but when it's something that costs $100, I'm a lot more guarded.
I don't mean to be overly critical. I'd love for this to succeed.
$100 really isn't that much, IMO. You just have to save for it.
But that's just me.
$100 isn't much for a console on the shelves right now. For a Kickstarter? Different story.
*shrug*
I don't habitually donate to any kickstarter (nor would I). So I guess it just seems less for me.
Note: Since they've exceeded there funding goal, there's nothing stopping them from simply taking your money and leaving. Or the project failing and no one getting anything.
That alone is why I've never donated more than $30 on any Kickstarter. Asking for $100 is out of the question.
If it were already released, then you could at least return it and get your money back.
I know that.
I'm not ignorant.
That's why the whole thing about this being the next Phantom is a pretty valid concern.
But these do seem to be people who have a background in the business, if it was just some random kooks, I wouldn't do it.
What's The Phantom?
It's easy to present yourself as any person with any capability when you have the right way of presenting yourself
^^A game system that's been coming out next year for like a decade.
Fitting name.
Ugh. Welp. It took me about a fucking year or two, but I've finally beaten Etrian Odyssey 1('s main quest). What a timesink. Fuck.
Apparently the creator of such games as Gears of War is making... a game that's basically Minecraft meets Team Fortress 2. Huh.

Worst QA ever, or BEST QA ever?
So, on a whim, I booted up my Wii's virtual console and grabbed SMB3 and FFVI. I have 900 points left. Any recommendations?
Tales of Phantasia, if possible.
Is there even an English-language official localization of ToP?
Yes, for the GBA. (EDIT: beaten by one second)
Yeah, although not for SNES. It's possible that it could be released on the virtual console, though. While it's not a Western SNES classic (having never been released on the SNES apart from re-releases on other consoles), it was a pretty big deal in the Japanese market.
