ToP isn't on Virtual Console.
So, haven't gotten Chrono Trigger yet, but I played the first world of SMB3 and the first half-hour or so of FFVI. Not a huge amount to say about the first except that it's a really solid Mario side-scroller.
As for FFVI...I'm enjoying it more than I did the first time around (I played the first hour or so at one point). I just got past the bit with the Moogles. The first boss battle really highlights the problem I have with the combat system. You aren't supposed to attack it at certain points, but given that there's a 5-10 second delay between entering an attack and that attack actually happening, the only way to do that is to just know how many attacks you can get away with before it returns to its shell, meaning attacking it the first time is pretty much unavoidable.
I like ToP simply for managing voice acting on a SNES. Bad voice acting, sure, but it was voice acting!
Action in New York had voice acting on the NES. And there were games on even earlier systems with voices too, I think.
^^ DROP THE HAHM-MAAAH!
ToP also had the Best Combat System. At least insofar as SNES RPGs go.
Yeah, I meant whether ToP has an official English localization for SNES or SNES emulation (such as Wii VC). I thought it didn't.
I know of the GBA localization, but IIRC it's not well-regarded, and even the insert song is just instrumentals, which some people have pointed out as a detriment.
I've discovered that there are at least two games named after Joan of Arc, one named Joan of Arc and the other named Jeanne d'Arc.
Looks like Dark Souls is available for pre-order on the PC.
Huh, just $40. Cheaper than I expected at launch.
I'll buy it as soon as I have a little more money.
Anyway, played more FFVI. Got up to Ultros, who killed me. Not sure if I just got unlucky or what. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at the variety they managed to include in the gameplay.
I just noticed Dark Souls will apparently have GFWL.
Well...Fuck.
Aw, shit.
I thought they'd removed it in response to the massive outcry when they first announced it would be on there.
That said, you only need it for online, which isn't really that huge a part of the game.
Does Perfect Dark count?
Doesn't rhyme with "perfect".
Unless I'm not getting the joke.
The main character is named Joanna Dark
o
Seconding Chrono Trigger.
Thirding that.
Also, you might want to consider getting FFV (for the GBA if possible.) That game has a ton of depth with it's job class system, and there's tons of strategies and whatnot involved. Definitely my favorite Final Fantasy, because it has the best gameplay. Though if you're looking for narrative in that game, don't bother. The plot is an excuse plot of sorts.
If you like to play a good RPG while on the move, it may be worth your while to get the DS version of Chrono Trigger. It's a pretty straightforward port of the SNES version with the added features of the PSX version but with none of the load times, and quite a few additional endings and a couple new dungeons. There's a new touch-screen interface that's not as preferable as the d-pad is for movement, but it's great during battle because it keeps the top screen uncluttered while you fight.
Just got past the Phantom Train. Suplexing it was every bit as awesome as I'd heard.
I was pretty much just asking for something to do with the extra Wii points I wound up with, so I'm definitely going with the Wii version.
I'll keep that in mind for future reference, but I have a lot of games I ought to finish.
So apparently the title character of that new Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph will be playable in Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed. Talk about cross-promotion.
FF6 was pretty sweet, what I played of it. I should really finish it sometime.
^^ Doesn't seem any stranger than Danica Patrick being in it. :P
Games for Windows Live.
Games for Windows Live, presumably. (EDIT: Ninja)
GFWL is confused in my head with GFDL, or Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Lab.
Guess what?
HINT: It involves a certain merc with a mouth.
Too early to judge but so far, at the very least, it looks like something that Deadpool would play.
Man stabbed over video game
