If you're facing a Steel-type, you shouldn't be using Hydreigon anyway.
Surf is- wait, you're playing White, fuck.
Go for Surf, then. You're not going to be thrown into near as many triple battles there.
What do triple battles have to do with Surf? O.o
And at this point, there's only single battles left unless I randomly decide to continue my Nuzlocke past Ghetsis
My Serperior has gone up to Level 60 without me noticing. >:x
With the Elite Four done in Black, I am lifting the rules of my Nuzlocke. I am not completely getting rid of them- I am, however, lifting the restrictions on catching Pokemon (I can now catch one Pokemon per route again, ignoring all previous catches, but I do not have to catch the first I see), and random battles do not kill my Pokemon (Wild Pokemon do, but not random battles. Gym rematches, the battle with Cynthia, etc, still do too.)
Also, Hydreigon has a decent move pool
Post E4, mind you, and two of the good attacks are egg moves (Oh why oh why couldn't it learn Dark Pulse by level up...?), but still a decent move pool
I don't.
I generally don't like Nuzlockes. It's a personal thing: I don't like the amount of control it takes away from me.
Surf hits adjacent Pokemon, including allies, in triple battles.
Oh, definitely; I was speaking strictly of the available movepool, else Flamethrower would have been my immediate suggestion.
Are you kidding me? Hydreigon has a GREAT movepool.
DM + Dark Pulse for STAB, Stone Edge via Move Tutors, EQ, Flamethrower/Fire Blast...
Alright, so Surf for type coverage it is
Oh hey it learns Flash Cannon. Neat. Not much use, but neat
Nova: I thought the triple battles had a more specific reason. I'd just not use Surf in triple battles then
That would be good, if you ever knew when they were coming up.
What's a good partner for Lucario, anyways?
...Starmie is good, I guess. Thing is, it can't learn boltbeam until the postgame.
archeops
^^^ "Oh, huh, they sent out three Pokemon. Guess I'll use Crunch and Dragon Pulse instead"
Against Steel-types?
The same also goes in double battles, by the by, which are a lot more common.
There are just many more effective moves that you can learn to deal with Steel-types. Dragon Tail forces them to swap out, while any number of TM and HM moves can deal with them infinitely better, and that's only if you're stupid enough to keep a Dragon-type in against a Steel-type.
...You're right. Archeops is kind of synergistic with Lucario.
...but they're both physical attackers
^^ If I end the Nuzlocke at Ghetsis, however, then it's a moot point
If I continue, then I can replace Surf with Flamethrower, making this... A moot point
Well, I was mostly just fangirling over Archeops :B
But, yes, Archeops does actually work well with Lucario. Other Pokemon would proabbly work better, though- look towards... Something with either a Dark or Ghost typing, and something with a Water typing. Jellicent, maybe?
Exactly.
Gengar works well.
Thing is, I think Focus Blast is postgame and T-bolt is only available after getting Surf. So that pretty much leaves Gastly/Haunter with just Shadow Ball.
why can't it be like in soulsilver
Fought a Level 53 Audino with my Archeops.
Archeops got like, 2300 EXP.
Jellicent had EXP Share on at Level 13. Got... 5800 EXP.
Let's see how many levels she goes up...
... She went up 7 levels, stopping at 20.
Audino doesn't have anything that can hurt ghost types... You could have slapped on a Lucky Egg and had Jellicent wear down Audino slowly
I'm in Giant Chasm.
What would I do if I encountered something before I got to Audino's rustling grass?
goddammit metagross
twelve ultra balls on one health before you get caught? really?
Metagross has a catch rate of 3
The same catch rate as Mewtwo
The Beldum Line is the only non legendary Pokemon family with that catch rate
Huh. How'd I even manage to catch it then? Guess I got lucky.
Level 55 Metagross, woot.
Done 1/3rd of my training
I'ma train my entire team to Level 70 in Black.
My end-game team:
Serperior
Archeops
Hydreigon
Metagross
Frillish
Volcarona
With only the first three being 'active' members of my team, and the others being swapped out as I wish, and Reshiram being a sort of a 'last resort' Pokemon.
