I see your point, but did the wild battle music have to sound really off-key?
From what I've heard so far, it's like they were trying to have the music in general give off a more techno theme for some reason. I don't really think it works. Some of the remixes are eh, but then there's remixes like the wild battle theme. The only remix I heard so far that I like is the Team Plasma music.
The gym battle fanfare music was pretty off key too. Which is odd considering how previous incarnations of that music was on the same key.
The Unova Pokèdex has had some pretty radical changes between games. My current team is Pignite, Sunflora, Azurill, Purrloin, Tranquill and Flaaffy. The only one of those I used in my Black run is Tranquill.
-shrug- Not all changes are good; they can be fucked up easily.
Is it radically different to the endgame of Black and White?
Um...I don't actually know.
But nevertheless, the bulk of the game has gone through some pretty significant changes.
Very easily as many other things have proven.
Well, working on the 4th Gym hopefully after I get my mid-term study work done.
Koffing is working quite well for me after learning that having a Pokemon with good Defense is pretty handy actually.
I am not looking forward to the 4th Gym. There's pretty much no chance that I'll have anything resembling a type advantage, so I'm going to have to brute force my way through. I'll probably do a bit of general screwing around before I try it.
Well, at the end of Black and White, you unlock the National Pokedex, and all the previous-gen Pokemon. Well, not all, but heaps of them, as in previous games.
There are, presumably, small changes- a couple of different Gym Leaders, a few different areas, a different story. But, well, I'd liken it to playing through Leaf Green, then the end-game of Heart Gold, where you tackle Kanto again.
Yes, there are some differences, including different Pokemon, different tracks, a different story, and some new tracks, but they're also very similar.
Playing through an entire game without changing as much as you could would get tiresome.
Mind you, not all the changes are/will be good, as it's fairly easy to fuck up anything. But still.
Emolga and Volt Switch are still going to suck. Bleeugh.
...
You know, I never really considered that.
I found that Serperior, being a fairly bulky Pokemon, was a good choice of Pokemon to swap to when I needed to heal/restore my other Pokemon. Plus, Serperior was also speedy as all fuck, and packed a somewhat decent wallop.
For other bulky Pokemon that aren't Poison type, try looking at Munna, or most Rock or Steel-type Pokemon. Gigalith is an excellent physical wall, and has a staggering 135 base Attack to back it up with. However, it will be overwhelmed by Special attackers.
There's a lot of Pokemon that are bulky, and I'd recommend dropping Weezing whenever you can, because Poison-types aren't as useful as you'd hope.
It helps a lot that the first two towns don't even exist in Black/White, and the first 3-4 areas from Black/White aren't accessible until the postgame.
Yeah, it's pretty strongly similar, but I'd say that of all the remakes/revisits/whatever in the series so far, this seems to be the most distinct one.
@Nova:
I see.
That is quite some handy advice. I will however kind of stick with my guns until I find it to be absolutely necessary because hey I like Koffing. And a good challenge as well.
I can't really comment, except to say that doesn't sound distinct enough to not worry about people feeling dragged down by all the similarities.
You know, I think I just found why they keep releasing new generations in new areas.
^ Just beware of Psychic types then, and dual Grass/Poison types, and Steel types.
It's not. It just helps a lot.
I imagine it helps, but the point I was making was that they changed the music to help alleviate those worries.
Snivy
Azurill
Growlithe
Riolu
Pidove
Mareep
May swap Azurill for Keldeo (there's, "Eh, it's only weak now," and then there's not even taking 1/10th of the HP off of a Growlithe with Water Gun)
Shouldn't Azurill have evolved well before you're running into Growlithes? Mine's an Azumarill.
It obviously doesn't like Ica that much.
Yeah, but to not evolve for that long? I'm not sure I want to know what he's been doing to it.
Dammit, I need Black 2 now, so I can offer comments.
If this were Black or White, I would suggest dumping Azurill for Frillish or Seismitoad, Pidove for Archen, and Mareep for Joltik or Kling-Klang.
But I don't know if they've made any of those Pokemon harder or easier to obtain, and I don't know if they've made the game significantly different- because if they have, then those Pokemon might be more or less useful. I find it hard to imagine Archeops being as awesome in Black 2, for instance, unless the Elite 4 has remained much the same.
(I would suggest those Pokemon because Legendaries kinda screw with the game balance, but it's not my game, so Keldeo away.)
Stupid incompatible router.
I want my Genesect damn it. >
With your comment about the first 3 or 4 areas not being accessible, I already figured you wouldn't be able to get a Tympole or a Frillish, and I don't even know if you can get Archen in Black 2.
Nuzlocking broke me of the habit of purely offensive play and relying on the main few types a long time ago.
I can just tell that Black 2 is going to be a pain the ass to Nuzlocke on a blind run.
And yeah, Nuzlockeing would require more strategy, but I'm extremely impressed that one of the games as presented finally managed to force me to plan a bit more.
I shudder to think of what that's going to do to the little kids who pick the game up and expect it to be as easy as previous games.
