It bothered me too, but I considered the fact that there is no monthly fee to make that worth it.
Yeah. Otherwise, it's a $80 investment for me to buy the game. I'm not willing to throw away $80 on a game without knowing I'll like it.
You'll never be over-leveled for what you're trying to do because they downgrade you in lower level areas.
It seems Nintendo's plan for the next generation is to make consoles and handhelds one thing.

But the problem with criticizing this is a key piece of the appeal of videogames is the fact that they are virtual sandboxes. Many gamers complain when it isn't sandboxes; see how much criticism there is of JRPGs being railroaded and lacking freedom.
And because the rules differ from sandbox to sandbox, and because of expectation of easter eggs and "devteams thinking of everything", such curiosity is rewarded.
True. And looking back at my comment, I see the irony of me arguing "against" JRPGs when I usually do the opposite.
