Carrie took out her Pokedex and halfheartedly scanned Chitter. She looked as though she were about to throw up, and her face was still white as a sheet. Bob looked up at her, obviously concerned.
She's dead... We could have helped her, but she's dead... if only we'd been faster... if only we could have been there sooner, to stop...
Parker shivered nervously.
At... at least she didn't have to die alone...
Jackie put her hand on her chin, to think. Should we scan Elizabeth's pokemon, too? It's a really, really bad moment, but we might not see them ever again. Maybe as something to remember them by.
Ray tried to keep smiling but it was indeed tiring as he brought out Kevi.
"Hello, Kevi. I'm Ray. I'll be watching over you for now." Ray turned his head to Phillip. "And this is Phillip. I hope you two get along."
"Vuuuul." Phillip gave a friendly chirp.
Jackie looked up at Greg's comment. She then looked at Kevi, moving her Pokedex to scan him once she was done scanning Chitter and Parker. "I . . . I didn't say anything . . . did I?" She tucked her chin deeper into her hand.
"What's a good idea?" asked Ray, confused. "Jackie, did you say something?"
Carrie scans whatever Pokemon she hasn't yet, her thoughts kind of stuck in a loop.
"I didn't hear anything." Ray said, looking at Greg with consternation as he scanned Kevi and Chitter.
"I didn't say anything." The sorrow and frustration Jackie had been storing was slowly giving way to nausea. "Greg, you're creeping me out a little." She tried to laugh, to show that it wasn't a big deal. It came out painfully fake.
"I . . . hmm . . . I thought to myself that it would be a good idea to scan Elizabeth's pokemon, since we might not have another chance like this."
"Greg..." Ray said slowly. "She didn't say anything... and I'm going to assume you're not lying that you heard something. What's going on?"
Greg looks back to Carrie and Charles, then down..."I...I don't know...I really thought she said something..."
"Are you sure the strain of... of what just saw hasn't put pressure on you?" Ray asked. "Just try and keep your bearings." looking around he added. "But if everyone has scanned the new pokemon, we should get going."
Greg shudders. "That...I-I guess that's probably it...let's just get out of here."
Are you guys talking behind my back again?
She blinked, shook her head, and nodded at Ray. "Yeah. Good idea." She returned Parker.
Come on, Carrie. Get it together. You're stronger than this.
Greg looks over at Charles, wanting to respond to his second question, but then decides it's probably best not to.
"Greg's just having a case of nerves I think." Ray said. "Don't worry, we'll get some proper rest once we're at Cerulean."
Home...
Carrie closed her eyes and nodded.
We're almost home...
Greg just looks at the ground, not reacting to anyone's statements or thoughts.
I hope the kid's okay. I dragged him into this and now things are getting weird for him. All of us, really Ray thought. "Okay is everyone ready to go?"
We should get him to a doctor when we get to Cerulean
Greg looks up at Ray, then back down, trying not to react.
"I guess I'm ready." Jackie started walking obliviously. I wonder what's up with Greg. I hope he's okay.
"R-ready."
Greg starts walking, looking more at the ground than forward.
Carrie picks up Bob and starts forward too.
