I like the premise of Death Note more than I actually like Death Note.
  • You can change. You can.
I like the premise of Death Note more than I actually like Death Note.
  • I love concepts sometimes, even when they're not explored good at all.

It just really goes to show that execution means a lot.

One show I liked was Code Geass.

As do I, actually. Even though I like it quite a bit, it has...flaws.

The problem with manga is that the author can't write the whole thing, find the flaws and fix them.

Incidentally, I still find it hilarious that the pilot was a silly comedy series.

    The president subplot?

As in the Yotsuba corporation arc?

That was definitely my least favorite part of the manga, and if the anime actually did remove it, then... well, I'll have to change my mind about the anime probably being worse than the manga...

Also Code Geass was good.  At least the first season.  Not gonna watch the second season.

  • No. I meant the president-president sublplot.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I loved Code Geass. Even the second season.

    Though that's more of a love-it-or-hate-it.

^^ Oh.  The one that I still don't remember even after trying to think about what you could possibly be talking about.

In any case, since it apparently didn't leave a strong enough impression on me that I even know what you're talking about, I guess removing it can't be too bad.

The subplot where the president has to agree to accept Kira publicly because Light is blackmailing him, IIRC.

Like, if Death Note was never created, but then a movie came out with the same premise, I would be all over that, assuming it was good.
  • The second season is admittedly a little rocky, but it picks up a bit at times and delivers in a good finale in my opinion.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
Peaceful death in the anime? It was just pseudo symbolic. Light's death is anything but peaceful, less abrupt, yes, but dying while enduring heavy bloodloss is not peaceful.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Still. Compare levels of peacefulness.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
There are no difference when compared

Both times the only emotion left is the despair of knowing his name is being written on the death note.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Yes, but in the anime, he's pretty calm, while in the manga, he throws a temper tantrum, which demonstrates how unsympathetic he is.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
He's not calm. he's fainting of blood loss.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Nevertheless, it sabotages the best moment of characterization in the series.
  • The atmosphere was more peaceful, I suppose.

He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
Best moment of characterization? What the fuck? The characterization moment is the tantrum, whether he died a minute later or a minute before is irrelevant to the tantrum's point of characterization: that he is a petty douchebag.

Dies in the middle of the tantrum: petty douchebag

Dies after he finishes the tantrum: still a petty douchebag.

The point is not that he dies during the tantrum, the entire point is that he does a tantrum.
