  • Something promoting ideals that I think are outdated and just plain ugly is a reason enough for me, and I didn't even need to mention sexism :3

Hey Malk, want to watch that Nazi Movie? /sarcasm
  • You can change. You can.
I actually watch nazi movies for fun :<

sure, it's because lol film historian, but hey!
  • But really, if you want something to not like Death Note for, you might as well make it be because it's badly written, not just because it's sexist.
  • You can change. You can.
Can't it be that it's badly written becaise it's sexist? Hmmmm?

    Clean your room little Billy

^ I'm not willing to venture into the main series, but if the parody fic Houseplants of Gor is true to the writing style of the Gor series, that's one example right there.

Oh no, it's almost as if I consider feminism to be important, and that outdated values are a severe factor in my enjoyment of my things. Truly I am mentally retarded.

    Cause stuff like this

is completely fine and stupid to complain about, amirite?

^ I can't help it. I just can't stop looking at her boot buckles!
  • Well, yes that picture is completely fine, and complaining about it because it's sexist would be silly.  Better example plz.

  • ... Y'know, I want a blind girlfriend too. Preferably an albino. A really hot albino blind girl...  so she couldn't see how entirely poorly conceived my own body-aesthetic is.  It would make for a very entertaining relationship.

BUT I take it that isn't what this is about.
Well ok, I know that isn't what this is about.

Naomi Misora's part in the Live Action version of Death Note is considerably more awesome than her anime part. And more significant too. Probably the most awesome bit of the whole thing, in fact.
Honestly, I liked the Live Action Death Note more than the anime. I only watch the anime for the second season intro music. Best anime music EVER.  Oh how I now love thee, Maximum The Hormone.

DYRE: The fact that we get panels of her ass, boobs, and crotch before we even see her face (I just showed you one panel) is NOT ok.

That is more elaboration on said comic.

Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
I couldn't even tell that that was a female character.

Also, I spent more time wondering why those cats were stuck in space heater or whatever.

    RE-ANIMATOR
^^  Isn't that how male vision usually functions?
  • GMH: It says she's a girl in the bottom text.

  • Was that comment part of an in-character soliloquy or a comment ON the picture itself?
  • Comment on the picture itself. It's at the bottom, in black text on a white background.

  • Well, if it is someone commenting on the nature of the image.... then my comment still stands, as it is levelled at the artist rather than the reviewer or whatever.

BUT... that said, the way the images are structured to me seems to be with the intent to convey a vague sense of anonymity. That what is taking place is more key than who is doing it.... BUT that is just my take on the images. And sure, one form of objectivisation is much like another.
  • Yeah. I tend to dislike male gaze. It's one thing if it's an in-universe male gaze, but it's another to have the omniscient viewer have a male gaze.
  • *Shrugs*

    It happens.
It happens all over the place... constantly.
I can't really see the issue with it, personally...  But that might be because I objectivise everyone by default anyway.

I think it's because  most people who are fine with T&A shots of women, don't want to see covers like

  • My reasons for not wanting to see that are probably not the same as yours.
And at least women have more interesting features than men do.

    To you.

To me, the form of a woman is positively boring. And I am sure most people who are attracted to males feel similarly.
  • Females have more features. Ain't sure just how subjective that is supposed to be..... but a man is basically just a dick and balls with transport included. Is a sorry state to be. And the implications are so harsh.

Is why I'm determined to have those parts taken off...  I hate to be judged by them. Horrible, horrible things.
  • Erm...no they don't. They have the exact same number of features. Some like boobs, some like abs. It's not that hard to figure out.
  • Someone attracted to T and A might like the Male gaze, but it just plain old removes from the story is all. All un-necessary fanservice does actually

Tell me one reason why seeing a character's ass in A series like Death Note could possibly be added and be essential to the story and plot...
  • Abs aren't a feature. They're just...... there.  -_-; ... The male body is just a wasteland of things which didn't become female and weren't really sure what to do with themselves.

But whatever.  I got no intention of things somehow becoming a squabble about sexuality or whatever. I really don't give a toss who is attracted to what, nor how they might wish to justify it (if they even do).  Ultimately... meat is just meat, and boohooing over it becoming oversexualised or whatever is obviously forgetting that the entire history of life is just one long, inane string of birthing, fucking and dying.
I mean heck, I find sex-related stuff mostly rather distasteful.... but then I find meat (i.e. people) in general rather distasteful. Just a bunch of shells that may or may not contain identities... thoughts...
  • So you're attracted to ideals and philosophies rather than anything physical?

So, you, most of all should understand the crux of adding characters simply for the sake of appealing to a base desire!

It doesn't make for a good series.
  • *Shrugs*

Like I sorta said:   most people are all about the sex.
I don't want anything to do with it myself, but when you see it everywhere, all the time, it just sorta becomes part of the background. Don't really notice it unless my attention is drawn to it...
And this isn't drawing my attention any more than usual.

If anything, trying to make characters deliberately unsexy would be far more conspicuous.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
SotiCoto, you got it backwards, we aren't birds, the female body is a body that didn't become male, not the other way around.

He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
    blagh
  • It sticks out to me, because I've seen series and shows that don't need fanservice to lure me in and tell me a good story.

And these stories, they're not sexist either
