I am not ready to quit TV Tropes yet
Comments
To use a personal example, I actually didn't think Troper Tales was that bad until relatively recently. I knew it was bad going on all the jokes, but I could scarcely imagine HOW bad until This Troper came around. If I knew exactly what kinds of shit were going on there earlier I would have acted MUCH sooner than I did.
The thread on Something Awful's side was locked, because their moderators thought of it as a forum invasion.
The only thing Eddie did was institute a "account must be one week old to vote" limit.
edit: To back up what I said...
Eddie's post where he let us know irregularities were spotted.
The thread then went on for another 5 days and 30 pages, and you can see in the second to last page that Ninja_Orca at the very least was participating right til the end.
If you still want to contribute to the wiki and believe that you can, then I would recommend sticking around. You can ignore the forum outside of specific threads you like or try to stay in certain areas that you know will not bother you much.
On a somewhat related note, I would rather this place not become focused on bashing TV Tropes. I certainly think it is fine to discuss it here from time to time, but if IJBM II is ever going to be independent at all, I feel like it needs to shift away from those kinds of discussions.
I also dislike it when people here or in the absent tropers thread in Yack Fest talk about how the userbase is really dumb, messed up, or what have you. While there are certainly behaviors I have seen there that I dislike, I do not buy the idea that most or many people on TV Tropes are creepy or annoying and such and I would prefer to not see them insulted like that. I doubt saying such things will really change the behaviors there that genuinely are negative and I find it rude to criticize other tropers when one posts in a thread to say one is leaving TV Tropes.
Unless it's something overtly pornographic, nothing is too creepy for TV Tropes. Creepiness is subjective.
The wiki would be less fun without Aondeug and Beholderess around, for example.
I don't mind it so much from people outside the site that admit to using hyperbole to make fun of us.
It's more frustrating coming from those who really should know better.
EDIT: It's odd.
Maybe "raid" was the wrong word.
Kind of sad really.
Good idea Y/N?
