    As for existing, I would personally feel a lot better if it was just porn. I find that it's easier to justify the morality of porn than the morality of something that only has sexual overtones.

    Although, I think that jiikan is actually a bit deconstructy...maybe?

    There's two active threads where the following is applicable but since it was linked in this one, I'll just say it here.

    That shit is exactly why I dismiss anime as a whole. Am I aware that not all anime is like that? Sure, but there's certainly a strong enough presence of it for it to give anime a bad rep. I know it doesn't technically hurt anyone, but still, it puts me in the position that I'm willing to fore-go a few noteworthy titles in order to disassociate myself with the fanbase.

    It doesn't really matter what people think, but at the end of the day, if you're standing next to a racist redneck fuck and you just happen to be wearing a white hoodie that's a little too pointed at the top, do you really want a bunch of black people walking up and seeing you next to the redneck?

    Or, no roleplay at all. Some people have fetishes with no desire to roleplay them. I find guy on guy arousing, but I'd never desire to roleplay it, for example.

    I'm not saying Jiikan is justifiable, just that that particular logic is not as entirely sound as it appears.

    I forgot to tag it NSFW, and I'll go do that, but I was using that as an example of really disturbing manga, especially one that has reached some level of infamy.

    @vandro: That's hardly the only issue with the second season, though. [I figured Hei wouldn't stay as an asshole alcoholic forever, but it's still weird, and he wasn't fighting much since then up to that point. And the part where he accidentally cops a feel on Suou thinking she was Shion was really cringeworthy, especially in light of the fact that she thought he killed her father. That's one of the few times I've been repulsed at something in an anime that I didn't expect to repulse me.

    And I don't really like Suou or her power, anyway. Really, I liked Darker Than Black as a series for good fights, so it's like come on, a sniper rifle? The fights against the magician and lightsaber chick were pretty cool, though. But the moving away from its episodic format and lack of interesting characters (especially considering how many of the cool characters in the first season just got killed off in the span of the pair of episodes introducing them) threw me off.]

    @Scrye2:That's just how the culture has evolved in the US, it seems. I don't find that kind of anime to be any different to the lolita book, at least on its disgusting premise, but I don't reject all books based on that.
