Okay, it seems to be trying to communicate with you...

    No actual success yet...

Keep trying, this happens with shaky internet connections.

Go to the screen at the top and select trade. And I'll contact you.

    Okay. I'm there.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Right, it said you wanted to join me for a bit, then stopped...

Try turning off voice chat (x)? It's worth a shot.

    Got it off.

This has to be the least intuitive multiplayer in a video game ever.

I wasn't kidding when I said the online took a step back from last gen.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Haven't done Gen IV online, since I didn't get back into Pokemon until after Gen V came out.

INUH, where are you? I've never had this much trouble with trading.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Alabama.

My wifi network's pretty good, and I've played online games before, though...

    Weird...

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
I'm in Illinois, and my WiFi is decent too. I have no idea why it isn't working.

Shall we call it a day, and try again tomorrow?

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Yeah, I give up.

If it persistently doesn't work even on different days, in a month I'll be back on the college campus with the 2nd fastest internet connection in the country. I think it might have a slight chance of working then.

Hold on, let me try exiting the union room and trying again. That's worked before.

    EDIT: Nevermind, tomorrow it is.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Okay, then. Hopefully it'll work then.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
You know, I have wireless on my 3DS...

But it won't give me my Friend Code. It just says 'To obtain your friend code, please log on to Nintendo WFC'.

what am I doing wrong :<
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^You turn on the C-gear and tap the "online" button. Then you hit the big button you can't miss, and it'll connect.

Your initial connection there is what assigns you the friend code.

    I pressed online.

There is a big button saying 'Game Sync'.

    My game saves.

It tries to send me to the Dream World.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
And once you've done that, your friend code should be in your Pal Pad.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    It's under 'IR', not 'Online'.

It wants me to make an Infrared connection.

    Wait, what?

    Or... what?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    Okay.

I had to store a Pokemon in the PC first.

    This is so unintuitive.

    I know...

Impression 126:As you can all see, I tried online trading. It's pretty awful.

Impression 127:Did a rotation battle. It was interesting.

    It fell asleep.

    Well, at least that worked...

Impression 128: Caught a Deerling. Named him Julius.

Impression 129: Fought a Parasol Lady who commented on how it was raining. It wasn't.

Impression 130: Caught a Karrablast. Named her Cara.

Impression 131: Caught a Foongus. Named him Angelo.

Impression 132: Caught a Vanillite. Named him Brighton.

Impression 133:Team Plasma, once again, is really pathetic.

Impression 134: Ghetsis is good at being intimidating.

Impression 135: I like the gym design, but how does everyone leave at the end of the day?

Impression 136: One more gym down. Just 3 left.

    Impression 137: Got Fly. Awesome.

    Impression 138: Suddenly, N!

Impression 139: Chargestone cave is awesome.

Impression 140: Lucky egg. Fuck. Yes.

Impression 141: Caught a Joltic. Named her Arachne.

Impression 142: Caught a Ferroseed. Named her Duria.

Impression 143: The mention of Klink's sudden appearance reminds me: I'd been meaning to mention that the ecosystem in Unova seems to have had a lot more thought put into it than the other regions'. It's quite nice.

Impression 144: Just ran into a Drilbur entirely by accident. I've hit three dust clouds in the entire game, and two of them have had Drilburs. Are you guys sure it's supposed to be rare?

Impression 145: The main character has been kidnapped by ninjas! Are you a bad enough dude to...oh...wait, false alarm, they just led me across a bridge.

Impression 146: Caught a Klink. Named it Spur.

Impression 147: The foe's Boldore used Mud Slap! A critical hit! 1 damage.

Impression 148: Talp learned Earthquake and evolved into Excadrill. Awesome.

Impression 149: The fourth dust cloud I've seen opened up right as I stepped into it. Another Drilbur. You guys were joking about it being rare. Right?

Impression 150: Just ran into another Drilbur. Seriously? This is actually starting to get annoying.

    Impression 151: And another one.

Impression 152: Running into some Team Plasma people. Presumably, I'll fight N once I've taken a few out.

And...it's 1:30 AM, so I should probably quit now. If I don't it'll be "I'll quit after I fight N...nah, after I exit the cave...nah, once I get the next badge..."

I wasn't joking about Drillbur being rare. I had to search for half an hour, getting mostly those type gems, before I found a Drillbur.

Also, Joltik and Ferroseed are awesome once they evolve. Well, if the former has Compoundeyes.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Ummm...yeah, I had stuff to do all yesterday, and all today until now as well.

Impression 153: Caught Tynamo. Named him Unagi.

Impression 154: Baku learned Psychic, so I evolved him into Musharna.

Impression 155: N really doesn't like gray morality, apparently.

Impression 156: N lost because he doesn't like battling. Why does he keep challenging me to battles, then?

Impression 157: Juniper's dad upgraded my Pokedex. For a second, I thought I was somehow getting the national Pokedex before the end of the game.

Impression 158: I have to help a sick Pokemon. This is somehow going to involve Team Plasma, isn't it?

Impression 159: Yorick evolved into Stoutland. Awesome.

Impression 160: Chris evolved into Unfezant. I'm on a roll.

Impression 160: Celestial Tower seems strangely familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

Impression 161: Caught Litwick. Named him Filius.

Impression 162: IJBM when Pokemon that should really obviously have levitate don't.

Impression 163: I should've mentioned this earlier, but I really like the non-Pokemon Center healers in this generation.

Impression 164: Caught an Elgyem. Named him Lugom.

Impression 165: How the hell did Skyla notice a fainted Pokemon at the top of the tower?!
