  • Woki mit deim Popo.
    I don't.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
I don't think coterie carries the right definition, compared to camaraderie.
  • I have to remain very skeptical about this. It's always been Nakama and to change it now seems kind of wrong.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I don't think coterie carries the right definition, compared to camaraderie.

Mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together as opposed to A small group of people with shared interests or tastes, esp. one that is exclusive of other people.

You're right... but the trope is about the people with the bond, not the bond itself.
  • I've always thought that part of the fun of TvTropes is seeing an trope listed, saying "what is that" and going to a new page. It's what makes it so addictive.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
Yeeeah, but the main issue seem to be the bastardization of a Japanese term.

Yes Exactly. SPOON needs to just st  ay out of Nakama.

Oh well if that's the main issue.
  • Oh, I'll do anything to just stop the endless bitching about weaboos.
  • On this one now that you mention the main issue i'm not sure if I should side with SPOON or CHOPSTICKS. SHAKER is bo und to get in to the mix.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    ^
FUCKIN WEABOOS HOW DO THEY WORK?

Yeah I guess it just seems coterie seems a bit weak, 'just a group of shared interests'
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I was trying to encourage them to add in an adjective, to really get the point across.

SPOON or CHOPSTICKS. SHAKER is bo und to get in to the mix.

shut the fuck up with your utensils before i punch you in the face goddammit
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    (What is this utensil stuff?)
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
TV Tropes organisations based on opinions concerning trope names.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    What kind of opinions?
Surely the idea is for clear naming that gets the point across without resorting to fan myopia.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Woki mit deim Popo.
    ^^ That's the problem.
  • Back in the olden days of the Trope Repair Shop, before we had the current trope renaming guidelines, people split up into factions who favored either primarily accurate and descriptive names (using the acronym SPOON) or original, witty names (who used the acronym FORKS.)

Over time, other groups formed either as jokes, or to represent people that took positions somewhere in between the two.

You mostly don't hear too much about them these days, which is a good thing.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    And NAPKINS

    and CUPS
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    ._.;
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    They all sound stupid. :/
Honestly they should just follow the clear naming that gets the point across without resorting to fan myopia.

    Eurgh at CHOPSTICKS
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

  • You can change. You can.
Can't believe there was a time I liked FORKS back when I lurked...>_>
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
ah fan myopia, the leading cause of bullshit the last time the nakama issue was brought up.

    You can change. You can.
I think Fan Myopia is like...50% of what's wrong with the wiki...

It used to be 75% with all the X...Just X and the like.

I think that, as with all things, a balance between the positions of the tableware groups is what is needed. While clarity is a good thing that we should strive for, aiming for 100% clarity would have prevented such titles as Xanatos Gambit, which is compelling and brings readers into the wiki in droves.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I came to the wiki because of the Badass Index, the Beyond the Impossible, Crowning Moment of Awesome and Tear Jerker pages.
  • Exactly and as for Nakama i'm compelled to side with FORKS and CHOPSTICKS
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I don't honesty have a strong stance against Nakama at all. After all, it's just a trope name. All of the moments it had are going to be the same.
  • it's jsut that when a trope name has been around for so long it seems wrong t get rid of it. i'm still kind of bitter about You Fail X Forever.
