^^ Isn't that Kore wa Zombie desu ka?

But Dog Days is actually alright, even if the whole series is just an excuse for the creator to write about even more animal-eared people than he could in his other works.

Well, yeah. I liked Dog Days but I wouldn't say it's not extremely creepy.

Highschool DxD is like Estetica, minus what semblance of plot that has and EVEN MORE fanservice.

Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? is about a zombie and vampire ninjas.  GMH was correct.  Which is why I said he was right already.

  • There is love everywhere, I already know

    Oh... I should see that...

No, not now, backlog is waaaay to long already. I still haven't seen tsuritama!

  • edited 2012-08-25 02:32:29

I stopped having a backlog once I realized I never actually watch shows from my backlog.  The only real exceptions right now are Tamayura, Hidamari Sketch, and Minami-ke, since all of them are having new seasons coming out soonish and I'm not caught up.  So, like... the idea is that I'll be caught up by the time the new season comes out... or something.

Not that that will actually happen.

I really should have realized this...

I have so much manga to go through right now too, Biomega, Crying Freeman, Pandora Hearts... so that's not helping.

    A couple questions:

Fairy Tail manga, good jumping in point?

Any good war/tactics manga (or anime), set in either the Heian Period or any period in England/Europe?

Any manga at all set in the Heian Period?

  • edited 2012-08-25 02:44:16

    google "Heian period manga":

    first result: http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=12046&page=1

    Thanks!

    >Heian Period Manga

    >Half of them are about Onmyouji

    Ugh...

He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

Good jumping point for the fairy tail manga... any arc bu the Tenrou Island Arc or the Edolas Arc. It's better you jump in before those arcs so you don't get too spoiled.

  • There is love everywhere, I already know

So around Volume 20? Good thing Kodansha's up to that point at the moment!

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Fairy Tail manga, good jumping in point?

    Chapter 1. :P

I don't have that kind of money!

Plus Kodansha's reprint doesn't come out till... three days from now apparently...

    Has friends besides tanks now

The only show I hadn't heard of is Magical Pokaan.

Same. But it sounds like they have pretty good taste, just judging by that; I've mostly heard good things about SZS, and I can say with greater certainty that Nichijou and Cromartie High School are superb.

My school's anime club doesn't meet for over a week. :( But I've already found some people who are into it (and another K-On! fan! Who even shares my name, but spelled differently).

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Point.  I don't know much about Pokaan but the other three I've heard consistently good reviews of, albeit their being not my taste.

That said, that same screen last night also featured the likes of the song "Gangnam Style" and the weird-ass skit "Japan Breakfast Club".

So I heard Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate had a decent political set up... but I also heard one of the teachers controls a coffee maker with her boobs or something to that effect (Plus it's so Generic Harem VN adaptation it's embarrassing), is it worth it?

likes of the song "Gangnam Style"

    ...Good luck with that?

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Well, to be fair, Gangnam Style is a currently-popular song.

Accel World is back to it's normal plot and I suddenly remember what I hate about this show....

Eh, one more week and hopefully Noumi will be dead. I mean, you're supposed to hate villains but not want to see them die because they're awesome, not hate them and want them to die because they're merely annoying...

    Here, There, Everywhere

Funny, when I read the words "Heian-period manga" up there, I thought for a second that you meant "manga dating to the Heian period," which was... odd, to say the least.

Apparently, in a broad sense, such things exist.

So that's where 4-koma manga comes from...

    SAO Episode 8:

LN Fans: The main plot starts now! All of that other stuff was just side-story stuff! SAO is about to get deep and masterpiece-ey (Avoiding the main plot's absolute stupidity, that is).

Actual Episode: Super fun harem love triangle time ho!

Me: I hope Asuna becomes a character whose not made of cardboard and can hold her own in a fight even against Kirito, that way I can continue watching this show with someone to root for, much like Snow Black Princess from Accel World.

Kirito: I activate the harem power of FONDLING HER FOR FUNNIES.

Me: ... Yeah, much worse than Accel World.

  • edited 2012-08-26 14:32:51

     harem love triangle time

Way to get my hopes up.  So far, every other girl has been better than Asuna, but of course none of them appear in this episode.

Also, I'm not convinced that Kirito is actually a solo player since we never actually see him solo anything.

  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

Asuna is the worse character in that show, isn't her?

  • edited 2012-08-26 22:57:17

Well, like all the other girls she kind of doesn't have a personality (even a generic archetypal one), but because she's presented as a main character it makes her lack of characterization more annoying.

Kirito himself is pretty bad too, but he at least, like... does stuff.

    Meanwhile, in Kokoro Connect:

Aaaaaaaaaaaand... it took me seven hours to actually watch this one episode.

  • There is love everywhere, I already know

Hahahahaha, that's a joke right? It's totally a play where they're pretending to be old fashioned and I don't want to live on this planet if things can be even more misogynistic than Sword Art Online...

Hopefully something will happen to Asuna that will make her better, like Kirito dying because this is a loose adaptation and the entire Harem turning into a team instead.

Why did it take you so long?

  • edited 2012-08-27 00:39:44

Why did it take you so long?

Because I'm easily distracted, and this episode was really boring.

And as for that screenshot... technically it's not actually any more sexist than anything else that's happened in the show, it's just that this is the first time it was so blatant about it.  Basically, so far the entire show has been about Taichi going around and solving girls' problems simply by virtue of being male (and therefore more rational or something), and it doesn't really look like that's going to change any time soon.  That said, anime in general isn't exactly known for, well, not being sexist...

Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

    > Sword Art Online

    > misogynistic

Is this really true?  If so, I might reconsider my wanting to watch it.

  • edited 2012-08-27 01:42:01

Well, it's misogynistic in the same way a lot of anime is.  Basically, all of the important characters that aren't Kirito are female and want his dick.  And they're all generally worse at everything (except for various noncombat skills) than Kirito is, but that's just because Kirito is better than everyone because he's a Gary Stu.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Wait, is this Kirito a SAO character or an AW character?

  • edited 2012-08-27 01:42:44

Kirito is the main character of SAO.

Though I guess he technically exists in the Accel World universe too since both series supposedly have the same setting.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

...Oh.  You WERE talking about SAO.  That doesn't sound promising...

Why can't there be more series where the female protagonists just happen to be female, and go on and do whatever shit it is they do as a protagonist?

  • There are plenty of series like that.

Sword Art Online isn't one, though.

    @DYRE: You disliked Princess Mononoke...?

    HERESY. BURN THE HERETIC!

OK, in all seriousness, I am genuinely curious about this one, not so much because I find it incomprehensible (I don't) as because it's a very rare opinion.
