  • An idiom meaning what, exactly?

  • You can change. You can.

As in a turn of phrase that people use fairly often.

  • I don't know if it's a specific idiom, but it's a construction that wouldn't seem unusual.

  • You can change. You can.

    that's good enough.

  • I meant what that particular idiom meant (fucking English, man). Since you seem to be using the phrase's literal meaning, it wouldn't be an idiom.

It's still a valid phrase, though.

  • a little muffled

Unless "debauchery" is the name of a hole in the ground, I don't think you can fall into it in a literal sense.

    smote

I suppose you could literally fall into debauchery if you got so drunk on expensive champagne you passed out into a bed of discarded bottles.

Anyway, this might be my new favorite thing on tumblr.

  • I told you a hundred times Seibah, I don't want you in my pool

bah woke up in a pretty bad mood. Part of it is because I'm dealing with the fact my therapist said I grew up in an extremely abusive environment, and part of it is because of how awful politics is right now.

  • Anyone know anything about folklore? I'm trying to find this tale about a boy who grows giant and begins eating everything and is sealed away, but his fate is to eat everything at the end of the world. I think it's Irish or something.

  • Kichigai birthday!!

I'm gonna do one of my "generate random number and bump the thread with that ID" things again.

  • Has friends besides tanks now

Bluh. I'm pretty sure I had an easier time reading cursive in kindergarten than I do now.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Cursive sucks ass to read.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

Cursive is, in general, bullshit. It's not faster to write, it's not easier to read, and you definitely do not need it later in life.

    Has friends besides tanks now

Pretty much. It's just that my roommate's girlfriend apparently stuck with it. I was going to read along with her notes for the Psych test we have later today, since I figure she's more organized, but I couldn't follow them at all.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    It's not faster to write

It is if you get good at it.

Not many people born within the last 50 years or so are good at it.

  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

I write cursive, but I can't even read my own notes. Whenever I want to make something I can read I write in a mix of cursive and (non-cursive)(what's the word here?)

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Print.

yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

I write lightning-fast in cursive, but I've only met a handful of people aside from myself who can actually read what I write other than myself.

I still prefer it to printing.

    (what's the word here?)

    Printing. Or Print.

    I think "longhand" works too.

Sources say manuscript, though that could be wrong.

    Or, I guess it's print.

  • Just saw Skyfall. Lots of bullets and explosions and generally visually interesting sequences, and yet the ending was surprisingly compelling. I think it's not so much the characters--two heroic line-art sketches and a villainous caricature--as the dynamic between them.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.

I'd disagree on Craig's Bond being a hero line art sketch but I have yet to see the movie.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Cursive is definitely faster than print, though high-speed cursive may be difficult to write neatly enough to be legible.

  • You can change. You can.

    a villainous caricature

To be fair, it's Javier Bardem acting as Anton Chigurh acting as Max Shreck.

If he were any more villanous, he'd tie Naomi Harris to a train track.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are exceedingly accurate to the core principles of actual fighting.

Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy have some of the most accurate-to-life swordplay in gaming, as long as you're talking about the single lightsaber.

Mount & Blade doesn't really have "fluid" combat, but it is tactical, strategic and varied. The multiplayer War Of The Roses uses the Mount & Blade combat system.

Die By The Sword is a game I've never played, but it has a very high degree of weapon control. It's also quite old, being a product of the late 90s. Try with caution?

Unfortunately, there no games out there that are honest-to-goodness accurate to both the medieval martial arts and the nature of the equipment used. Some games come closer than others (Mount & Blade) or pay lip-service (The Witcher 2), but none really nail it. But if someone simply wants good gameplay depth and player agency, the above examples are the best.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

I think you're supposed to go over there to do the suggestin'.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

But... that would require going over there.

  • You can change. You can.

    You could just copypaste, mon.

Also, I accidentally left my wallet on my jeans and threw those jeans to the washing machine.

now my credit card doesn't work and i am unhappy.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

If it's from a bank they might be able to reprint you one on the spot if you go to a meatspace location. Or mail you a new one in a few days if you call them.

  • You can change. You can.

I know. It's just that I wanted to watch Skyfall today and I have no cash until next week, I think.
