    Forzare,

Unless something changes, I will be attending Northeastern University this fall.

Abyss_Worm (from a couple of pages ago),

To change the topic a bit, what do you think about fancy stuff like philosophical or political works? That is, do you think we should still praise old works about those subjects even if they were written without really recognizing women/most races? I suppose it is kind of tough to figure out what parts of those works are still good and can be separated from prejudice, especially bias against women.

  • You can change. You can.

Forzare: my envy. All of it. Still, hope you enjoy it. And that you choke on a fucking chip. >:[

  • Has friends besides tanks now

Have fun, Forzare. I guess we won't get to be roommates, though (I've decided on Susquehanna University, especially since mom got my price down to $13,300/year).

This means you still need to come back up to Maine at some point so we can hang, though.

In other news, my shift at work this month is a measly 6-9 on Tuesdays (so, today). I'm okay with this, but hopefully the Vampire RP can adjust.

  • Kichigai birthday!!

I tried to get into Xenoblade a bit ago, but I couldn't and I stopped playing like at the start of the game. I just can't into JRPGs. Good thing I downloaded  it

  • So, I'm finally attempting to make a IJBM Steam group.

What shall we name our little club?

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
@INUH: I read it a few weeks ago. There were a couple bits that dragged, but overall I loved it.

    @Juan/Everest: Thanks.

    @Louie: That was great.
  • We already have a Steam group, but... it's run by a banned member of the site(specifically Tnu) and has only one other member.

    So, ideas? Suggestions? Anything?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Steam just doesn't bug me.

Dunno if that's any good, bit figured I'd mention it.
  • Steam Just Bugs Me

    It Just Griefs Me

    It Just Bugs Me

  • Yeah, It Just Bugs Me sounds good. :P

Well, to use my favourite example, socialism is supposed to be targeted towards everyone, in particular the underprivileged. Of course, socialists often lose sight of this when white males still dominate the discourse, so it practically begs for a greater variety of voices. This is where you take the abstract ideas of the philosophy and focus them to be more applicable to real-world situations.

This reminds me of one of the many things that irk me about the Occupy movement.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Rock on Forzabro, enjoy college. I know I enjoyed the hell out of my time there.

I think a good work is a good work, regardless of the occasional mistakes it makes.

  • Ouais! Malgré ne avoir practiqué mon francais depuis longtemp, j'ai pu comprendre la plupart de cet vidéo.

    [I haven't worsened at French]

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    Aha, good to know. Thanks.

I hope it does not seem like I am going crazy with all these questions (though if you would rather take it to PMs, I am open to doing that). I am mostly asking because I do not know the answers to them myself and I am kind of curious about them (maybe too curious really).

Anyway, when you talk about the need for a greater variety of voices, are you thinking of a certain critical mass or quota? I guess I am wondering why you think that socialism will become more legitimate or compelling if a greater number of women and people of a variety races embrace it.

Is it just that adding more perspectives will help enrich socialism and it is kind of a coincidence that those perspectives tend to be associated with certain groups or does possessing a certain sex or race automatically gives you a different voice than someone who does not have that sex or race?

Socialism is about equality, so everyone should have a part in shaping it or else it becomes a case of some being more equal than others.

Man, I need to find some friends who play TOR. I'm loving it, but no one I know plays it.

Anyone want a seven day free trial? I've got one left. :V

  • I'm a damn twisted person

Forzare - what server are you playing on?

Also, that feeling where you have a steadily expanding list of books/shows/games on your to read/watch/play list. It almost makes me want to budget my time beyond showing up to work at the proper set of numbers.

    ^^ I dunno, how old's your computer?

    The Razor.

Also, I just want to say that Taris is the worst.

    Abyss_Worm,

That seems to make some sense. Sorry if my last post seemed like I was saying that diversity does not matter. I definitely think it does and I view it as positive myself, I just kind of wanted to see what your reasoning was.

Anyhow, I think you alluded to one of the trickier parts of trying to be more inclusive and diverse. I mean, I would guess that many people believe that trying to get people with different backgrounds to contribute to something they like (e.g., socialism in this case) is a noble goal, but how do you go about attracting that diversity in a constructive way?

I guess some people would say that the goal should really be getting the best and brightest people regardless of race, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, or economic status, but I feel like you could counter that argument by saying that sometimes the standards for measuring those qualities are not as objective as we would like them to be. At the same time, I wonder if it might be somewhat problematic to say that certain groups have intrinsically different perspectives merely by virtue of their skin color or sex.

I suppose I am kind of rambling a bit, but these questions kind of remind me of people complaining about being a minority in a group and being asked what they thought as "a black person" or "a man" or "a woman" as if they somehow were able to represent that entire group just because they happened to be a member of it.

About two years old, I think.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

Forzare - okay, I'll see what I can do about leveling up a Jedi Counsular healer over the next few days on that server. No guarantees since bluh, life and work and stuff.

I don't think Taris quite beats Tatooine in the sheer hassle department though, since Tatooine is just a giant ball of sand.

  • ...so I seem to like MLP:FIM again.

...why is PB&J Otter so boring? I watched some of it out of nostalgia but still...

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Tatooine isn't great, but I never felt like it drags as much as Taris did. It's like they looked at Kotor and said, "Gee, people sure did hate Taris, didn't they? Let's bring it back, only make it even worse."

I've got a 41 Jedi Guardian named Tarwin and a 37 Imperial Sniper named Maede. No need to rush.

About two years old, I think.

If I had to guess, I'd probably say that it would run, but you wouldn't get a decent frame rate, if my friend's old laptop is anything to go by.

    give it to meee :P

You can have it if Juan decides he doesn't want it, since he replied first.

Or if they give me more sometime.

    that's okay :P

  • You can change. You can.

I think Imma go with no, if only because I both suck at gaming and don't have much interest in playing multiplayer games. No offense intended.
