Eh? Oh, no, I am serious. My previous comment was directed at the situation, not at anything else.
That's completely hilarious, if for the irony alone.
Pronounciation time!
Hell no

Man, that fucking sucks. BECAUSE GENDER IS TOTALLY SOMETHING YOU CHOOSE BEFORE YOU'RE BORN AMIRITE
It is chosen at random but chosen alright, we aren't born sexless...
I'd hardly say it's something you choose though.
Not even gender! I was too young at the time to even have any notions on that subject. Nope, she's blaming me for my sex which HER GENES HAD AN ACTIVE PART IN DETERMINING argh
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her genes can only make female chromosomes, it was your dad's overactive sperm that did the trick. Unless you are a bird.
But I am a bird. SURPRISE
Now I can't stop thinking about Cygan as a GL ripoff.
Then you are gonna be part of tonight's dinner. I think I'll make nova soup.
Shit.
I hope I at least taste alright.
With Annihilus Guts on the side?
Don't worry, yam makes bird soup very tasty. A few lemon drops might as well.

So apparently KyoAni's making a series about some dudes on a swim team. I feel obligated to watch it.
Also just learned what a tripfag is.

Fans give Bioware cupcakes to change ME3's ending, Bioware gives cupcakes to youth shelter. ...Fans complain.
Booorrreeeedddd.
Hello, everyone.
I'm just bored as usual, so I'm playing some games.
On Hades, he's apparently the main villain of that new Kid Icarus game.
Then again, that series has never been particularly accurate with Greek Mythology.

Interesting read. Key parts I liked were the bit about shounen and shoujo only being publishing terms and the part about how Tezuka is so widely revered and then girls realize the sexism within (though I haven't seen his stuff, so I can't properly judge). In general, that's the thing that always bugged me about some "great" works: how do you evaluate them while considering people who aren't white men? And that thing about "guy" works being aimed at both genders while "girl" works are more one-sided. Society in general could benefit from not forcing so much male posturing.
I must confess, though, my reasons for being attracted to shoujo are shallow. I find the manga artwork so pretty.
Thanks for linking to that. I totally agree with the idea that shounen and shoujo are just publishing terms. I think those kinds of demographic labels apply even less outside of Japan where certain premises would not seem to give shows the same target audiences. I mean, a show about a group of high school girls who form a band and hang out a lot while eating cake and drinking tea seems like the kind of thing that would be targeted towards girls in the U.S. Yet, from what I understand, K-On is considered a "moe show" in Japan and is targeted towards men there.
I guess I agree with you about the male posturing stuff too, but I suppose I am just not sure how to solve that problem. As for what you said about great works, while I definitely think it is worth criticizing them based on how they treat female characters, I am not sure how effective that criticism ultimately will be when that kind of bad treatment is pretty prevalent in them. How do you think that people should respond to the "fair for its day" comeback for example?
Hey guys
Feelin' good.
Time to play Magicka... Er... Megucka.
?
They're making something other than Hyoka? (and apparently Chuu-2 Byou demo Koi ga Shitai!!, which I hadn't known about until just now when I looked up what KyoAni was doing)
Aww, sorry to hear that, Nova.
Eelektross:
Actually, it's ME-losh.
Is it just me or do the seasons with the 11th Doctor emphasize/include the TARDIS a lot more than the seasons with the 10th Doctor?
