Hmm. I like how shaved legs feel, but it's such a pain in the ass doing it. Took me about an hour just to do the lower legs. Arms should be easier, though.
^ How treatable is it? Hopefully it doesn't progress too far.
^ I'll get back to you on that. He's at the vet now. I don't know for a fact that he does, but he does have a bunch of the signs. And I guess he only started showing symptoms last night, so it probably hasn't progressed too far.Apparently the vet doesn't think it's Lyme. They took some blood, and gave him some antibiotics. It might be a slipped disc.
bluh
Got up anyway. Mostly because I was thirsty.
Woke up at 12 29.
so, lemme get this straight, brain. The day I wrote until 4 in the morning, I wake up at 9 AM. And the day I slept at 12 AM, I wake up at 12 PM?
weirdo.
That feel. My sleeping patterns are getting badly in the way of my life at this point, too, but they always revert to something ridiculous and betray me.
I think I found the funniest thing in all Nichijou

Progress on designing my RPG has slowed down significantly. Balancing magic isn't easy T_T
I think you need some kind of common denominator for balancing magic.
For instance, if you're using a system where wizards are more powerful than fighters, then each damage progression might have a different value, like:
Fighter - 1
Wizard - 3
So you know that one wizard progression is worth three fighter progressions. Then you want to find a way to balance these factors, so a fighter's effectiveness is generally multiplied by three, or the cost of a progression is one-third the cost for a wizard.
Of course, this gets more complex as things go, but essentially you want to split each character's value into a few parts. It might go:
Offensive
Defensive
Agile
Special
Total
Then the idea is to have the total value line up. If you make the correct considerations (and they mightn't be the ones I used as an example just there), then this should work. But you need to attach some kind of value to every skill level for every skill.
Hmm...if Pokemon has shown anything, it's that stat totals don't count for much compared to where those stats go to.
Interestingly, I've envisioned a magic system inspired by Plants vs Zombies of all things. Seriously, a recharging requirement is excellent in forcing you to plan out your resources as opposed to spamming the same move over and over again.
^ Indeed, indeed.
Speaking of Pokemon, I'm kinda relieved knowing that Bug resists Ground, so I don't have to worry as much about sending a Forretress in on something with Earthquake. And I'm still looking for someone to play against, although that might not happen today, if I have to go to bed early.
Perhaps I should be more specific. My system has no classes. It's skills-based, with "specialties" (sorta like feats, I guess) that you can take if you have a certain level in the skill. And a lot of the combat numbers come from situational stuff (i.e. someone wielding a warhammer would have an easier time against an adversary in heavy armor, but not so much against one who preferred to just dodge attacks).
As for the magic system...well, there are several magic skills, each with several trees of specialties that have vastly different effects. Balancing "I set you on fire for this much damage" against melee or whatever isn't so hard, but balancing "I raise this corpse as a zombie to fight for me" or "if you step on this rune, you'll sink into the mud and have to break out of it" is harder.
BOOM HEADACHE
I want my glasses already.
"if you step on this rune, you'll sink into the mud and have to break out of it"
This depends on how smart the AI is. If they can execute moves to cancel it out, then you'll think twice before using it.
Er...it's a tabletop RPG >.>
Point on canceling abilities still applies. Though in the case of humans, I'd think trap spells would require a lot of support to work.
So the AI is as smart as a human! 8D
^^Yeah, true. My question is more of a general one about how to balance the large variety of stuff that doesn't directly attack with stuff that does.
Where the hell is the dashboard?
It's a tumblr thing.
Well, finished Bakemonogatari. Now to get back into NGE.
I really hate when people demonize other people, bleh bleh bleh
yeah i know everyone will know what i'm talking about. i don't give a fuck and you shouldn't, either.
Exactly, which is why I'm not taking back what I said. Sometimes I put things bluntly.
^^ Wait, what are you talking about? Because I'm a very curious person and I do give a fuck.
So...I'm reading stuff about TES lore, and...I think I went too deep down the rabbit hole around the time I found out why Cyrodiil stopped being a jungle.
Kay's thread. Brother's abusive and hits her, and everybody obviously started to do the whole "He must be a soulless psychopath" thing that honestly gets on my nerves because it's the exact kind of logic that leads to executions and punishment without the intention of recovery that really really grates on my nerves at least 90 per cent of the time.
I know what you mean, Juan, but domestic abuse is a pretty horrible thing. While people could stand to be more mature about it, I can't fault them for their outrage either.
As for recovery, we'll see, I suppose. If he needs some structural reason to treat her with respect, then the odds are already against him. I won't discount the possibility, but at the very least, he's a willing, malicious criminal. 'Cause domestic abuse is against the law, and that's something he should have to face.
When people are structurally forced into bad conditions due to the circumstances of their life, that's one thing. When they are willingly and pointlessly cruel is another, and I think that's something that deserves a hefty reprimand.
