Lurking. It's nice to see a place where adults debate and discuss things for once (well, the titular subforum at least is. Obviously the stupidity varies from board to board, but it seems they are at least self-aware about it).

  • You can change. You can.

    cute.

  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year

Is Guns, Germs and Steel a good book?

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

    So Arrietty.

    Spoilers: It's really good.

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
^^ Ive heard that it's good. It's on my long list of books that I plan to read someday.

If I can ever finish American Gods because god damn it, I really like the book, but i never get to the end.

And if I can stop buying books faster than I can finish, like I just did with Year of the Black Rainbow.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

I just finished volume 3 of the Elric saga. I've determined to finish the books I have (Guards! Guards!, Swords of Haven, and Foucault's Pendulum) before I buy and reread volume 4.

So my girlfriend does not like the idea of small mammals (Guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, etc.) as pets, yet loves thinks like stinkbugs (she had two), madagascar hissing roaches (she had one. I refused to pet it. Out right refused. If it hisses at me, even if that's only to breathe, I refuse to touch it), and tarantulas (she has one right now. Admittedly that's a pretty awesome pet)
  • @ Malk: It sure is. And finish Guards! Guards!

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

That was actually next on my list. I'm considering writing a review of Arrietty but I'm not sure I'd say anything unique.

  • We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year

Shit, I lost my place in Girl Genius...

So my sister (8 years old) and parents went to see a movie about whales. My sister was expecting something happy

Apparently the baby whale dies in the movie

They did not have a good time
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

^^Use the drop-down menu under the comic. It's usually easy to find your place from there.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

The Wu-Tang Clan mention Marvel comics all the time. I should stop being surprised when they do it.

    How I think Metalocalypse happened:

"Okay guys, Brendon Small has these really funny voices he can do, how can we make a cartoon around that?"

  • a little muffled

I didn't feel like making a new thread or bumping an old one for this. Ages ago, I made a thread about a program on the public transit here which was only available to women. Today I found out that somewhere along the line they actually did change it to allow men to do it as well. So that's good.

Google says that it was officially changed in October and that at the time they planned to change the informational signs about it soon. I guess it took them a while as I'm certain I saw signs saying it was only for women quite recently. Or maybe I'm just horribly oblivious.

Either way I felt for some reason that I had to post this here because I'd previously complained about it, so.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

    That's good to hear.

So...I just looked at my notification counter for the first time since, I dunno, last week? Well, it's now above 12,500 O.O

  • Stuff actually happened on The Walking Dead tonight!

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

    Mines over 10,000 :V

Anyway, should I make a cooking thread here or not?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Do it! ^_^

^^ YES! I can learn new recipes then!

Anybody have any recommendations on how to get into an exercise routine?

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

Depends where you're exercising. If it's just in your room, you could time yourself with a movie or show or something. I used to do muscle training to Gundam Wing (damn that sounds lame), and I'd run through two or three episodes before I had met my "quota".

    Done.

Eliptical is in the garage (although there is a TV in there...)

I'm unfit enough that 15-20 minutes on the eliptical wears me out x.x Yet I'm flexible as fuck
  • Did it have stock footage with amazingly cheesy 90s rock?

  • It'd be better to do muscle training to G Gundam.
