    Street gangs are, essentially, the product of an entirely justified reaction to racial prejudice taken to an incredibly horrifying and monumentally stupid conclusion. I really don't know why people keep fixating on the first part, especially with how much damage the conclusion has caused.

    This, pretty much. I feel that street gangs are one of the best modern examples of what can go wrong in a person, and successively a group of people, due to a group people, how easy it is to be driven to that wrongness, and how terrifying mob mentality is.
