I think it really depends on the work itself. Some benefit from it, others don't.
And ninja'd.
also, lol, half-life in Lost
Hm.... maybe I should cut down on that? I dunno. A lot of the time I say things that aren't really worth anyone's time though, so I figure I might as well just delete my post to avoid wasting anyone's time.
Anyway, what I said in that post was basically that I think visual novels in general are way too long, and four hours sounds fine.
Though I guess it doesn't matter much since I don't play visual novels anyway. Like I think I've said before, I really have much interest in playing a visual novel that has a male protagonist, especially if there are sex scenes (it's kind of unjustified, but still... porn that implies that I'm participating in it creeps me out). Though I guess if it was a non-pornographic and non-romance themed visual novel it might be fine. Or if it just had a likable protagonist with a defined personality or something.
In any case, I don't have much interest in horror other than of the B-movie sort, so Saya No Uta doesn't interest me too much either way.
>not fucking awesome
More seriously, they're not especially scary, but games very rarely are. They're still some of my favorite shooters ever. Definitely my favorite survival horror.
And they're pretty good at being disturbing. At least 2, anyway, where Isaac is an actual character that I gave a shit about.
Dead Rising is the only survival horror game I have ever played, ergo it is my favorite.
Wait, that's not true. Left 4 Dead is survival horror too and I've played that. But it sucks so that doesn't matter.
I dunno that I'd call L4D survival horror. It's dark and it's got zombies, but it's a co-op shooter.
My track record of disagreeing with every word DYRE has ever said about the quality of works remains unsullied.
Left 4 Dead is a horror game and it is about surviving, ergo it is survival horror. The fact that it's a co-op action game doesn't really matter to that.
But really, I don't like co-op for the most part, and Left 4 Dead is nearly unplayable single-player. So you can't really blame me for not liking it, eh?
