Just spend about 20-30 minutes on guitar.

...I am so out of practice I'm practically a beginner.

Alex, Juan either of you know any simple online places that could help me out with exercises and such?
  • You can change. You can.
I know exercises myself, but I have no idea of a site that can give you that, no.

I can write up a tab, I think, though.
  • But you never had any to begin with.
Two people have been shot dead at Virginia Tech, and the gunman is on the loose. Yay. v_v

Yep. I believe it was in my second year of college last time.

Yup. The deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in US history. 2007, 32 dead, 25 wounded.

One foot in front of the other, every day.
@Malk: You might just want to play some scales and arpeggios to a beat, up and down. Speed 'em up, slow 'em down. Don't stick to it for too long. After you've spent 10-15 minutes on that stuff, play some simple melodies or songs.

Also, I'm out of town for a few days. Will probably post a little from my phone, but otherwise, see you guys around.
  • See ya, Madass.

Well, just finished a technical interview. At least I answered everything correctly, even if they were not the best possible answers.

^^^^, ^^ I'd probably have it so that it is hand made gifts (and possibly restrict that further to stuff that can be uploaded) to help curb any one ups manship

A song, probably. Or, if you really feel charitative, you can send stuff to people via mail.

I wish Saya no Uta had been longer than four hours. It really could have done a lot more. Not that it wasn't already exploring many themes in the small time in which the player needed to complete it, but there was no time to really become invested.

There are other comments to be made regarding it, but I don't want to delve in too deep, lest spoilers become a necessity within my explanation.

Oh, and I like the soundtrack a lot.

Really, what I'd suggest to improve saya no uta is removing all the random sex scenes.

Considering that the four hours are for multiple endings (and probably generous replay of the part that leads to two different spots), the experience definitely does not benefit from being so short. The concept was pretty intriguing, and it was apparent that the writers knew a thing or two about execution. I would have liked more diversity in choice (oh yeah, there are a whole whopping three routes to take) and less H-scene padding.

^ That's a given; there's really nothing that was accomplished by them that couldn't have been mentioned in narrative or through non-sexual character interaction or something.

^^ I don't quite get your habit of deleting your posts. :C

Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    Saya no Uta is awesome.

And yeah, I do wish it was longer, but I also think it's length is a strength too. A lot of VNs are too long for their own good. Saya has a story to tell, and for the most part it doesn't really waste time with extra bullshit and padding like all the characters cooking and eating dinner (-coughfatestaynightcough-)

I'm a sucker for cosmic horror, though, so I probably wouldn't mind anyway.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I don't agree on the routes. It has as many as it needs and no more.

Yeah, more routes doesn't really necessarily mean a better story. I'd rather have one really good one than four or five spread thin.

Sometimes you regret saying something. Although I'd certainly prefer if DYRE used ETA: blah blah nvm instead of that. I always keep thinking that he deleted a post saying "FUCK YOU GUYS AND I HOPE YOU ALL DIE IN HELL WHEEEEEEEEEEE" or something

It just doesn't feel like a visual novel if the player only has that many choices. I think I would have rather seen Saya no Uta as an OVA or in novel form or something (I don't recall the writing being lacking; to be honest, the few visual novels I've played or attempted to play were better written than most of the straight literature I've read (though I only have SnU and Katawa Shoujo as a sample pool)).

As for length, I just feel that they probably could have found a way to do more with the concepts so that they might justify it as a VN while having four or five routes (or more; who knows? The writing team was competent enough that I'd expect it) that are equally as good as one another. I understand why they would rather make it a VN (popularity of the medium in Japan); it just doesn't quite fit as well as other media might, in my opinion.

^ I didn't see anything in his post that was objectionable, that's all.

I don't see why a VN needs multiple routes any more than a game or a work in any other electronic medium does.

Yeah, I know. I just wish he didn't backpedal so much.

^^ It's like half the point of the format, though. I'm not saying that's necessary; I'm just saying that it seems like a defining feature.

Really, I would have rather seen SnU as a series of OVA's (or maybe a whole 12/13 episode anime, if there was enough added to justify the length), for what it's worth.
