It's actually possible to disable the antenna before you get that mission, which gets an amusing reaction from Pritchard once the mission actually comes up. Still have to sneak back into Derelict Row, though.
oooh finally. a big boss game out of PSP. should be fun enough
So, MGS 3? :P
I haven't played much yet, so I haven't really gotten used to it enough to say if it's really any good or not. You drag Neku to move, and swipe/drag/tap to use different attacks.
That said, I have no idea what's going on and it's kind of ridiculous how unlikeable Neku is.
Yeah, that's normal. I was wondering about the partner controls.
Both are deliberate, and both will change. It gets off to a slow start, but by the end it's really excellent.
okey
And you only sort have control over the partner. You can't really move them around, but their attacks basically work like the pins do. As far as I can tell. It hasn't done a great job explaining.
Yeah, I know. I'm just asking what you do to control them. In the DS version, you use the D-pad.
There's really no difference in control between using the pin attacks and the partner's attack.
That's...odd.
Playing Amnesia. Almost to the bit where I kept dying on my first attempt and gave up. The bit with the thing in the water.
...See, I should have said sequel. but noooooooooooo
So what exactly is this Dark Souls game like? I've heard tons of good things about it from people here. It showed up in a raffle on SteamGifts and I'm wondering whether I should enter it. I watched the trailer and all it seems is some sort of combat-oriented high-fantasy game with pretty graphics.
That's pretty much it. It has a reputation for being hard, but IMO, it's more accurate to say that it's very punishing, in order to force you into a defensive playstyle.
^Alternatively, it's like a (good) 3-D Castlevania game, according to DYRE.
It's a highly-challenging action RPG well-loved for its finely-tuned combat system, diverse character-building system, excellent visual design and lore.
The basic gist of the challenge is that it punishes mistakes quite heavily. It's not actually that difficult to complete most sections of the game, but it's very important to be conscious of the major factors at play and to take best advantage of them. Even if you've completed it multiple times and done challenge or gimmick runs, it will ruin you for careless play. So observation and consideration are extremely important factors when tackling new obstacles, or revisiting an old obstacle with a new approach.
There's also a massive variety of builds, especially between different stat, equipment and spell combinations. You can take a specialised build to take advantage of certain game mechanics or create a character that can be applied more diversely in combat. These two characters might have exactly the same stats, but have different equipment that supports their particular approach. For instance, a build balanced between strength and dexterity can use a large diversity of weapons and shields, so you might equip a heavy weapon and heavy armour to resist enemy stagger attacks while giving you the ability to stunlock enemies until they die. The same character, though, might choose to equip a dagger and light shield instead, using parries and ripostes to rack up extremely high critical damage.
That's not even getting into vitality gouge builds (lots of HP, uses elemental weapons to make up for their lack of good damage stats), faith builds (combat agents of the church, or alternatively knights as presented in chivalric romances), intelligence builds (sorcerers who can cast powerful damage spells and buff their equipment temporarily) and more.
I love it a lot because it's a game so powerfully geared towards providing a sense of discovery. Often, this is in a geographical sense, but also in the sense of working out the system, finding good build combinations and other stuff like that. But no matter how powerful your build and equipment, there's always a tradeoff -- the holy knight who can use powerful divine weapons and channel the wrath of the gods won't get the raw damage of a character geared towards the use of mundane weapons, and at least one of their equipment slots will be used up by the talisman item necessary to use their miracle abilities. A character who excels in dealing heavy damage with light weapons won't get the staggering impact of a heavy weapons user. Really pumping up your HP means there are less points to spend on the diversity of your abilities. And so on and so forth.
I wrote a review of it, if you're interested.
Why do people like Octodad so much?
It's just a physics minigame with an insane premise.
^Because it was the first game with any sort of notoriety that used Kickstarter to get funded.
And because it's insane. I hope the sequel succeeds on Greenlight. Here's the teaser for it:
I'm not fond of the "no connection to rational thought" style of humor, personally.
So, I installed the Big Trees mod for Skyrim
The trees are easily twice the height of the Falkwreath Watchtower, greatly reducing visibility on airborne enemies, especially dark colours ones at night. Also, the branches tend to block arrows. My current character is a level 11 archer wood elf
He got attacked by a blood dragon. It was only a few minutes to night
Quite frankly, I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did
Ok, I waited an hour then headed out
The dragon STILL attacked me. I can't even take it in the clearing nearby because it's just. Too. Strong
HIGHLY considering god mode at this point. Fucking dragon >.<
^ Would be easier if this dragon wasn't an Ice Blood Dragon. My stamina gets drained too fast
Although I think I have a strategy formulated. Use Command Animals on the pack of wolves nearby, then go to the dragon. Flame it with my weak ass Flame Spell (which does more damage than my steel arrows...) and use Fus Ro Dah to stun it. When it tries to attack me, use Wuld to get out of range and pepper it with arrows. Use the trees to block its shouts. Use Lydia as a human body shield (another mod I have makes each follower more unique, so Lydia can occasionally heal me VERY rapidly)
Edit: Seriously though. A blood dragon. What. The. Fuck.
Ok. I've tried my blades sword. I've tried fire. I've tried ice when it changed to a fire breather. I've tried bringing my horse into battle and stunning the dragon with a Fus Ro Dah
I give up. I cannot beat this fucking dragon. Unless... Hmm... Maybe shield bash...
EDIT: He grabbed me with his mouth and used me as his chew toy
Bear in mind my advice was to run away. You're too low-level for it with your build, I think.
I finally won
When I tried a different route, going to the western watch tower?
The blood dragon was STILL there, although peaceful. Went a bit farther and he attacked again...
...Right near a giant and his mammoths. FUCK YOU, BLOOD DRAGON! ROT IN HELL!
And another one. Actually took it down this time with only Lydia's help. The area around that inn protected me well
Seriously though, those dragons are stalking me ;.;
You're the most interesting thing in the gameworld; everyone else is scripted.
Yeah, but seriously though, why all the BLOOD dragons? ;.;
