  • I'll be sure to check Summon Night if I can actually find it. Thank God for Amazon, though I pray it won't use the L Button, mine is broken like crap.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Spelunky version 0.99.9 is best because still can drop down one block onto spikes without consequences.

  • They're somethin' else.

As for fighters, give KOF XIII a try, or Skullgirls.

  • Kichigai birthday!!
What's the gameplay like in the Monster Hunter games? I mean, are the fights turn-based, Zelda-like or what?

Already have Skullgirls even though I've only played it once, really wanna pick up KoF XIII.

In other news, resting my fingers from beating Sigma Stages 1&2. Charging the Buster on that tiny B button hurts. ><

^ Real-time. It has no lock-on like Zelda, and the game still continues even if you have a menu open, so using items can be dangerous if you don't make yourself save.

The original Deus Ex? Or have we hyped that up too much too?

Actually I think I might check Deus Ex. You know, if I can find it.

I actually had interest in Fallout. I feel stupid for not buying the first two games for under $10 at a Best Buy now.

  • Also Schitzo, agree or disagree with my MMX Maverick Difficulty rating?

  • edited 2012-09-05 15:26:25
    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

^^The early Fallouts are $6 each on GOG. Not quite as good of a deal, but pretty close.

Deus Ex, meanwhile, is on Steam for $10.

Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

^^^All 3 are $10 each on Steam and GOG. Unless your computer is really old you shouldn't have problems playing the GOG version at least.

    EDIT: Ninja'd

  • Hmm, I rarely use Steam much, so this sounds like a decent excuse to use it. I just hope my computer can run it. Or better yet, use my brother's new gaming computer.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

If your computer can run a modern browser, it can run Deus Ex. The game was technologically way behind in 2000.

Alright, I'll look around on GOG then. Gonna start with Fallout first, because pricing and such.

Still, I'll probably have enough money for Deus Ex next week/tomorrow/later today. Only $10.

  • They're somethin' else.

I still need to take on the game completely with buster solo. But I agree that both Chill Penguin and Storm Eagle are easy as pie.

  • Good luck with that then. I'm currently on Sigma Stage 3 with the rematches. I honestly hate that room after Launch Octopus. There's still Flame Mammoth and D-Rex to take care of.

Also, dare you to beat Chill Penguin last. >:D

  • They're somethin' else.

I forget. What stage changes does Chill Penguin's stage go under?

  • LaiLai

None. Which means you'll need to go through Flame Mammoth's stage with lava. LIKE A REAL MAN.

AH HA! D-Rex beaten! Only Sigma is left.

If worse comes to worse, I'm using special weapons. Simply because I don't want to be stuck fighting Sigma and his dog for an hour.

  • God, I need a break from fighting Sigma.

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!

    Huh.

I got into the War of the Roses beta.

  • You know what? Fuck it. Fallout time.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human

Come to think of it, if you want to get the heart tank on the lava when it's still lava, you can beat Sting Chameleon, get the dash upgrade, then get the buster upgrade, and use invincibility to get it.

  • Actually I'm trying to do this without any upgrades at all, Glenn.

  • You can change. You can.

    ...?

I'm not sure what the category here is.

Overtly recommended games by IJBMers :p

  • I hear ____ is the best game ever.

Also, does anyone know how to get Fallout to play in a window?

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

^I did at one point; if you Google it, it's pretty easy to find IIRC.

  • One foot in front of the other, every day.

I got into the War of the Roses beta.

Tell me how it is. Really looking forward to that one (rofl surprise surprise).

Anyway, Lai, I think you're cheating yourself out of some great experiences. It's kinda one thing to go "I'm not interested in Dark Souls" or "I'm not interested in The Witcher", but there you've listed some of the most important games of recent years, back-to-back. It's kinda like going to a film buff and telling them to recommend you a movie, but not Citizen Kane, Seven Samurai, Alien, or Die Hard. These films are paragons of their genres, time periods and artistic objectives, so the film buff is going to be confused when you refuse to watch them.

In particular, I'm absolutely sure Dark Souls and The Witcher are going to change RPGs from this point on, and if there's any kind of artistic justice in the world, Spec Ops: The Line is going to change modern warfare games. Basically, I think you ought to play at least one of those games -- not all of them, just the one that you find the least unappealing in theory. Or the one you can find for the cheapest, or one you just happen to notice in a bargain bin.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

If there were, they wouldn't need changing. For SOTL to actually change the minds of the people who control 99% of modern military shooters, it would have had to do something ridiculous like outsell MW3.

  • So, getting a bit used to Fallout 1's system. Actually got it to run in a window.

So, that thing I linked saying EA wouldn't publish any more single-player games wasn't true. What they meant to say was that they're not publishing any more games that don't have long-term paid DLC plans. Lovely.
