  • This whole thing reminds me of the Slenderman and how he fucks around with his victims.

Fitting, since Slendy is a goon creation.

I think the best course of action would be to let this simmer down for the night. Especially if they are indeed discussing it in the mod forum.

Or at the very least, not try to call him a tyrant for it in the edit banned thread.
  • The mods are fighting too? That's the same as saying we have a miniscule right to vote rather than no right to vote. Not much, but still something.
  • You can change. You can.
Even the mods are mad. This seems to be a very interesting night.

    BRB, getting beer.
  • Maybe the mods can talk some semblance of sense into him.

Don't look at me like that.

Well, it's at least nice to see some of the mods are disputing this, at least.

I'm going to go get a Pepsi. I'd make popcorn but it's pretty late.

    I stand on Grendel's shoulders
I still see absolutely nothing wrong with rationally discussing what's wrong with the site on the site, even if it's against FE's shitty little hugbox rules.

Also, go other mods for talking some sense. Whoo!

    I'm going to bed. --yawn--

    G'luck to everyone.

And I mean everyone, even the mods and FE who are never going to read this. >_>
  • I hope they do talk sense into him.

  • You know Annebeeche, last point, don't you think it's a bit...er...rash to automatically jump on the anti-hugbox wagon? I mean...I dunno. It seemed to do you pretty well in the past.
  • I'm telling you guys, you're walking a line of exporting drama that is
    really really unnecessary.

I agree with this. Well, maybe it's not exactly exporting drama
since it's stuff that happened over there by users who frequent there,
but my reason for being against this is, well, remember what happens when IJBM is brought up over there.

The less it looks like there's a concerted effort against anything related to TV Tropes, the better (for us).
  • I might stay up all night (with the help of caffeine) just to see how this pans out. This is fascinating, sad, and hilarious all at once.
  • You can change. You can.
I still see absolutely nothing wrong with rationally discussing what's wrong with the site on the site, even if it's against FE's shitty little hugbox rules.

I'm just saying that you guys are going there with the clear intention of getting banned. I don't see the point in that, that's all.

You have my blessing to do as you wish, for what it's worth. And I hope you gain something out of this. But I don't see what it would be and to be perfectly blunt, I find it completely and utterly overreactive.
  • If that don't work, use more gun.
Man, I gotta go to sleep now.  Too bad, cause this shitstorm was getting good.
  • I would be willing to get banned mainly because I would rather get banned arguing a point than be part of a site I'm not proud of.

Also, if I wanted to, I could probably easily get around the ban.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Even the mods are mad. This seems to be a very interesting night.

    BRB, getting beer.

    me too

Anyway, I'm not doing it to be banned. I'm doing it because I think it should be done, and I accept that the consequences will most likely include a permaban, so I'm not upset about that.

    I stand on Grendel's shoulders
I have nothing against creating a nice, pleasant, friendly site where no one is allowed to be genuinely mean (that is, derogatory and hateful) to each other or other groups of people. It's a good thing to strive for.

But racism, pedophilia and misogyny are very often tolerated on this site (because criticizing them for being hateful and/or seriously disturbed is confused with meanness), and genuine criticism of other people or their work is not tolerated (because it is confused with meanness), and that's where the dream breaks and fails to become reality.
  • Kamen Rider MADOKA
    Only Anthony Goldsteins? :D
  • If you really dislike TVT so much just leave. No use in trying to go out in a "blaze of glory".

Level-headed enough again to concur with this.

    Pedophilia is tolerated?

Last I checked, it was bannable. Hence, fetish locking?

    And racism, also banned.

    Misogyny as well.

...maybe I'm just ignorant. Having slightly prejudiced opinions, or slight biases, while unfortunate, are natural in everyone. No one is immune to that.

If you see it, report it, etc. etc.

Really, the only thing that runs rampant is things like arrogance, which is something you can't get banned for.

Unless you mean OTC, in which case, that is a place that is exactly the opposite of a hugbox.

Not to mention, even if you COULD criticize people, that doesn't mean things would change. Especially ingrained things like that.

I mean, shoot, everyone is a stubborn bastard, and calling them things is just going to make them mad.

Just because there are people you dislike, does not mean that there is something wrong with a system where you can't criticize them.

Only bannable if it gets bad enough that people cause a shitstorm over it

    anyway

Anonus: People want to do this because it'll make them feel better, not because it'll actually help anything. I got banned entirely unintentionally and it makes me feel great for some reason.

As long as no one is being hurt in the process, I don't mind.

What I've been trying to say in a more succint fashion.

One day, the ancients of TvTropes will tell of this great shitstorm, whispering of its grand scale....
