Because Elbeem, it's creepy, if you want an article on bra sizes put it on the fucking fetish fuel wiki where you can be as creepy as you want.

So many people responded before I posted this :(

    You can change. You can.
I've only had Tommy Wiseau (Which was weirdly accidental), Obi Juan Kenobi (A classic), Rorsharch (Sleep Dep) and a cache for avatars which I use for requested art that I don't feel like having on my gallery but that people might want to have or something.

^Gee, I wonder who you are on TvT.

Anyway, we're not talking about what you think we're talking. Just as a head's up.

^DUDE I'M TOTALLY NOT THE GUY WITH THE CREEPY PHINEAS AND FERB FETISH!
  • IJBM: People assuming clothing articles is a fetish thing. --grumbles--

    Woki mit deim Popo.
^^^ I think he comes from elsewhere.
  • YO YO YO U CAN'T C ME BOUT TO SPIT SUMTIN' STOOPID!
^^The argument I got for bringing up that there's children bra sizes on the articles is "lol children don't even wear bras" Because apparently now Loli and children are different.

I only have Tenri, which is the one I used when i got bounced.

JG: When did I say I wanted an article on Bra Sizes? I specifically stated that I do not oppose the article remaining cut.

I objected to Gerpie demonizing the people that disagree on that position. That's all.

edit: Ninja'd, and sorry, I won't continue this particular derail here.

Wasn't it Xavier The Second or something?

That was an account I made like months before, I used it a couple times and then forgot the password. Tenri is the one I still have.
  • > You say "at the expense of" as though the person who just entry-pimped
My Immortal would be editing the hell out of The Great Gatsby if we
    didn't have that policy.

Maybe not. But, do you think that this hypothetical Great Gatsby editor would stick around for very long, if all they saw of the site were pagequotes and images from a franchise that they hated, but was popular with other editors? Or if they stumbled into the pages for fanservice tropes, and saw people talking about how sexy they found the kids from the Disney Channel?
  • "do you think that this hypothetical Great Gatsby editor would stick around for very long, if all they saw of the site were pagequotes and images from a franchise that they hated, but was popular with other editors?"

They could just not be a wimp.

    Challenge accepted!

Current list of Great Gatsby editors includes: Gravityman, Shoebox, Noraneko, RedWren, shimaspawn, VoxAquila, MetaFour, hullflyer, Vidor, whereismytea, DynamicDragon, Torquey, yarrunmace. And that's just the first half of the history page.

I haven't heard about any of these editors leaving, so I assume the answer to your question is "Yes."
  • I'm hopping to the end...

I think I've basically quit the TVT forums. I still pm with friends there, but I just can't get into conversations anymore. I still like reading the articles, though.

the hypotetical editor is also someone who is not new to the site. The exercise doesn't work if it's someone who already likes the site.

Ok, now that's just moving the goalposts into "hypothetical situation that can't be proven one way or the other" territory. =P

For the record, my hypothetical My Immortal editor was a long time user who likes writing fan fiction, long walks on the beach, and is typing up a Troper Tales: Cloud Cuckoolander entry as we speak. So totally realistic.
  • I agree with the creepy sex stuff being off putting.

On the other hand, if you come here with the intention of adding to the Grapes Of Wrath page and then leave immediately due to a hate-on for, I don't know, Futurama quotes, you're kind of a wimp.
  • You can change. You can.
I don't think the word is wimp. I think that the problem is that many people seem to think that the moment they edit something in, it will lead into a edit war and they fear to get into editing. Is a bit irrational, but it happens a lot, from my experience.

the thing is, that the more you see stuff like that, the more it feels as if the wiki only has those pages as a courtesy. (It doesn't, obviously) And the more the contributors don't dare touch them because they don't think it'll work for whatever reason.

I dunno, at least, that's how I see it. I'm probably wrong, but fuck it.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
That's still being a wimp, fearing to edit for edit wars is being a wimp.
  • @Myrmidon: Futurama is a lot less likely candidate for that than That Guy With The Glasses, just saying.
  • You can change. You can.
That's still being a wimp, fearing to edit for edit wars is being a wimp.

    > Implying it's fear and not laziness.

    > Implying that everyone feels like getting into random edit wars with random people in the internet.

You implied fear, not me, re-read your comment.
  • WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO RAPE THIS TROPE, [person]? WHY?

Didn't know that all thought was fear. Will be taken into account.
  • "Futurama is a lot less likely candidate for that than That Guy With The Glasses, just saying."

I've talked to multiple people on the wiki who don't even know what that is.

    ...
@Juan_Carlos: But it is a justified fear, in the same way as being afraid of walking into traffic and getting hit by a car.

@Myrmidon: They are better off not knowing.

On the wiki or on the forums?
  • On the forums. This is because people make use of a miraculous ability known as "utilizing folders" and "skipping examples you aren't interested in".
