I am not ready to quit TV Tropes yet
Comments
I objected to Gerpie demonizing the people that disagree on that position. That's all.
edit: Ninja'd, and sorry, I won't continue this particular derail here.
My Immortal would be editing the hell out of The Great Gatsby if we
didn't have that policy.
Maybe not. But, do you think that this hypothetical Great Gatsby editor would stick around for very long, if all they saw of the site were pagequotes and images from a franchise that they hated, but was popular with other editors? Or if they stumbled into the pages for fanservice tropes, and saw people talking about how sexy they found the kids from the Disney Channel?
They could just not be a wimp.
Current list of Great Gatsby editors includes: Gravityman, Shoebox, Noraneko, RedWren, shimaspawn, VoxAquila, MetaFour, hullflyer, Vidor, whereismytea, DynamicDragon, Torquey, yarrunmace. And that's just the first half of the history page.
I haven't heard about any of these editors leaving, so I assume the answer to your question is "Yes."
I think I've basically quit the TVT forums. I still pm with friends there, but I just can't get into conversations anymore. I still like reading the articles, though.
For the record, my hypothetical My Immortal editor was a long time user who likes writing fan fiction, long walks on the beach, and is typing up a Troper Tales: Cloud Cuckoolander entry as we speak. So totally realistic.
@Myrmidon: They are better off not knowing.
