Meh, I don't like it.
I think it's pretty obnoxious myself.
Even aside from it not looking good, it apparently can cause eye problems.
I want to say that sounds ridiculous, but I do have pretty bad eyesight (as opposed to sight with... what, exactly? >.>), and have had hair covering my eyes for the past many years... so... maybe...
I also have bad eyesight, but my most recent doctor has told me that that's because I rub my eyes (and he wants me to stop cold turkey, but, well, fuck that), and I've only recently started wearing my hair that long.
I have another reason to grow it out in general now, in that I have a fucking wrinkle on my forehead that I want to cover, but I can see if SA's skincare megathread can help me with that. But straightening is a bad idea, I realize that much at this point.
Though I still don't get why everyone hates it so much. But I do get that only young people can really make it work.
ಠ_ಠ
Further evidence that you actually are me.
I've stopped giving a shit about my own early wrinkles, including the big one on my forehead.
Longer hair looks pathetic on me.
Well, I think you look much better with shorter hair, anyway, Ironweaver. As for me, you can see a picture of me with shorter hair a couple posts up, and honestly, I would feel fine having it at that length. I just want to try for something better, now that I've actually started taking good care of my hair.
^^ I guess I didn't notice anything like that when I saw your picture. -checks- Well, whaddya know. I don't think it looks as bad on you as it does on me, though.
It doesn't look bad normally, but if I'm surprised and raise my eyebrows, it gets deep enough that people occasionally ask me if I've been injured.
Oh dear.
Wait shit, I'm sure I posted my face in this thread.
You did. Last page, second post.
EDIT: It's a 404 now.
oh there it is. how did i not see it
Have you been growing your hair out over your eyes?
So, now I have another idea, since apparently I'm not allowed to wear my hair down to my shoulders. Maybe I'll crop it or something, or get an undercut (or, as some people have been referring to it for whatever stupid reason, a "jugend"), or whatever it's called, where you keep the sides much shorter than the top. Maybe something like this? It might also help to fix the problem with my forehead acne.
Day 1 with pomade: So I might have put it in while my hair was too wet or something, because it hasn't really been doing much to control my hair, and it's taken me forever to get it into something I'm comfortable wearing. Hopefully it'll at least hold my hair and feel okay, like it's supposed to. And regardless of the effectiveness of the product, I absolutely cannot wait to get a haircut, and hopefully that'll be on Wednesday.
So I either fucked up giving directions to my barber, or my hair is still too short in the front, but my hair didn't really come out the way I was expecting it to. Here are some of the pictures I'm actually okay uploading, if anyone has thoughts on how bad it is.
Grow it out more, and for future reference avoid that barber, the sides look... ungood.
I guess it'll look more tolerable in about a week. The sides are way too short compared to the rest.
That was sorta the plan, yeah. I might see if there's a trimmer lying around and try to get that all back to the same length, because I can definitely tell that it's uneven.
I certainly hope it'll look better, but I think that depends on how cooperative the top of my head is. And getting the sides shorter was the whole idea, actually. When done right, it looks superb. I almost got the sides shorter than that.
Don't.
Welp, I guess that's what I get for not wearing contacts there so I can actually see what the hell's happening with the cutting, instead of assuming it looks good because there are no egregious dark spots on my head when I look while visually hindered.
Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on some of the other things I've tried with my hair? There's at least one picture early on in the last page.
Personally, I think you looked best with the shaved head, but I know you won't go for that.
At this point, I don't know if I'll have any choice but to have it all cut to near that length again, if I want to look remotely presentable at school. XD
Hats are a thing if you don't want to.
You look quite badass with the shaved head, honestly. If you don't want to do it, I'd advice you to grow your hair to a medium-ish length. If you want to keep it short, the hair on the top of your hair needs to be a tad shorter, I think.
And no, fuck hats.
Hats can be ok, despite what people on the internet think.
You need to go to a haberdasher and get one fitted right though.
Hats look good only on formal, semi-formal and "casual formal" clothing. Otherwise they just look out of place. With everyday clothing they tend to look plainly ridiculous.
True. But I think it would look silly at this length of hair. Or at least, the beanies I have would look really bad, especially compared to how well they go with longer hair.
Huh. I don't get it; I honestly think I look really goofy with really short hair. But I might also try cutting the hair on top shorter. But how would you define medium-ish? I've re-linked to another picture below, but somehow I don't think that counts.
I think I might just keep it at this length until I'm feeling adventurous again, since it's the happy medium between "I like it" and "everyone else approves, for the most part".
Do beanies not count? >:[
Also, fedoras are never okay with what people wear them with nowadays. Can't comment on other styles of hats, but fuuuuuck fedoras.
I like the way it looks in this one:
The pic you posted looks okay; you might want to grow it out a tiny bit more than that.
Also, they bug you because of longer hair? Wow.
