    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    "L-let's just get back."

Greg keeps rushing out of the museum and toward the gym, for once willing to be the first person in line to go somewhere.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
"I am the very model of a modern major general~" Ray sang in his best baritone.

"Vulpixvulvulpixpixvulvulvulpixpixvulvul!" Phillip replied in his discordant high pitched voice.

Still no progress. Ray decided leaned against the wall in defeat. Then after a chuckle he leaned down to his friend. "I'll make sure to get you a treat for your effort."

Phillip didn't understand everything Phillip said (and many humans didn't either) but he understood 'treat' just fine.

    "Pix!" he cried happily.

Charles followed Greg and Carrie, with Snow following close behind. "Dammit, I was hoping to get at one of those Rockets..."
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
"Well, at least we found something out. It was worth doing, even if we had to see all that blood..."

    Greg returns to the gym.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
"Y-yeah..."  Carrie still seems a little shaken, her face still pale.  She enters the gym.

    "We're back."
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
"I'm the greatest captain of the Queen's- oh you're back." Ray stood up, looking to the others. "Presumably you've found something of value at the museum?"
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
"Sort of.  Team Rocket... They took something from the museum.  An Enigma Stone.  Doesn't explain why they were here at the gym, but I think that might be what they wanted.  There was blood... so much blood..."  She stopped, and took a deep breath.  No.  Thinking about that and getting all freaked wouldn't help anyone.

She slumped back against a wall, then slid down into a sitting position.  "You ever heard of it?"

Charles went over to Brock. "Snow, could you use Powder Snow on the floor? I might be able to wake up the gym leader with a bit of the snow that piles up..."
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
"Enigma stone.... I believe the name has come up in my reading..." Ray had pulled out a notepad and was scribbling furiously. "I shall have to do more research. There are two possibilities, of course. The first is that the gym and the stone are related and the second is that the relatively close proximity made them crimes of opportunity. Hopefully Gym Leader Brock's testimony will be able to point us in either direction."

He paused his scribbling to see Carrie slumped against the wall. "Copious amounts of blood, you say?" he said as gently as he could. "Do you... want to talk about it?"
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Greg follows Carrie's lead, then pulls Littorio into his lap and hugs him.

Carrie shrugged. "I don't know... We followed a blood trail back to the museum, and that was okay... But we got up to the case and it was just filled with..."

She closed her eyes and took yet another long, deep breath.  This seemed to calm her a bit.  "Maybe the one in the museum was just a replica, and Brock had the real one? They only realized after they'd broken in?  Or maybe Brock had something that they needed for... whatever the Stone does."  As she spoke, she seemed to be regaining confidence and self-control.  "I think it's pretty clear they stole it for more than just money.  There was a ton of stuff in the museum that they didn't take that would have gotten a good price."

Charles scooped up some of the snow that was made and rubbed it on Brock's face to try to wake him up. "Hey, anybody in there?"

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Clearly the grisly scene had left an impression on both Carrie and Greg.  Ray decided to file it away for the moment. At the moment, pressing the issue would just cause more stress. He would speak to Greg to help him later, and Carrie... if she wanted to talk Ray felt she would.

"Both interesting theories, the latter seeming to hold more credence than the former. It is unlikely that Gym Master Brock would have the real version, though not impossible. Perhaps his abilities with pokemon were the most readily available to help with the stone."

Ray squeezed his temples. "I only hope Jackie and medical accompaniment show up soon."

At Charles' actions, Ray answered. "Careful Charles!" slightly more harshly than intended. "His life is not in danger, but careless actions could still harm him!"

Brock doesn't wake up. It appears that his injuries are significant enough to require medical attention, at least of a sort. Waking him up could be hazardous to his health- but it may also be the key to figuring out what Team Rocket wanted before they make their escape.

Carrie removed her glasses and rubbed at her eyes with a slightly less shaky hand.  "Well, he's probably the best trainer around here, and one of the most trustworthy.  If they wanted to study it or something, or if it was dangerous, maybe he would have been the best choice to watch it.  ...But this is all just speculation anyway.  We don't have enough to go on yet."

    She glanced over at Brock.

Charles frowned. "I don't think we need to worry about what I do at this point, Ray. The leader is completely out of it. We really should get him to a hospital..."

He looked up at Brock's Onix. "...You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest doctor is, would you big guy?"

"Too true, madam. You could indeed be a detective in the making." Ray said, glad to have someone to bounce ideas off. "As you've said for now we should refrain from assumptions until we speak to the Gym Master. However, perhaps assumptions from the others might be good so long as we are engaging in armchair induction."

Ray looked at both Charles and Greg.

"Perhaps one of us should get to the hospital. Which of us is skilled in quick transportation in a bipedal manner? As you may have seen getting here, endurance running is not my strong suit."

Carrie glanced at Brock again.  "We shouldn't move him.  We don't know how bad he's really injured, so moving him ourselves could make it worse.  We just need to sit tight until Jackie comes back with professionals, and protect him in case the Rockets come back."

She grinned at Ray in response to his compliment.  Color was beginning to return to her cheeks.  "Never really considered that career path before."
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Greg shrugs. "I-I'm not sure. The idea of it being fake would make sense, I guess."

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Carrie's grin was rather infectuous. It was good to see her overcoming the traumatic scene at the museum. "Detective work is simple will, focus, application, and fortitude mixed in with the appropriate knowledge." Ray said. "I see that we have will." he looked at Greg. 'focus" a glance at Carrie "application" a nod to Charles "and fortitude currently helping those in need.

"For the moment I'm sadly lacking in the knowledge we need but fortunately that is a temporary issue." He couldn't keep the grin off his face now. "Charles, you seem to be bursting with energy. Is there a chance you could dash for human treatment? After you share any theories, of course."

Charles thought for a moment. "Well, like I said earlier, I do know that the Enigma stone is connected to legendaries somehow. If they aren't after money, then maybe Team Rocket thinks it can summon or control a legendary Pokemon? That would certainly be worth going through a lot of trouble... And sure, I can go get some help. I just need directions to the nearest hospital is all"

Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
"If that's what the Stone even does."  She shrugged.  "If they were ready to move on it in force like this, they probably know exactly what it does.  Or what it's supposed to do.  We don't."

Carrie looked down at her lap.  She unclipped Bob's Pokeball from her belt and rolled it aimlessly around in her hand.  "...Heh.  This wasn't exactly the start to my grand adventure that I'd expected."

Charles smirked. "Heck, for all we know, maybe the stone is a Dialga egg or something completely out of the blue like that"
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Ray scribbled some rather quick directions into a paper on his notepad and ripped the paper out. He handed it to Charles saying. "That should be simple enough. Time is of the essence. With the help of the Gym leader it's possible we can proceed with this mystery."
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Carrie tossed the Pokeball into the air and caught it, very nearly fumbling it. "Come to think of it... How do we know he'll tell us anything?" She slipped the Pokeball back into her belt. "I mean, we're really just a bunch of kids. Barely any experience under our belts. Judging by how badly Team Rocket wanted the Stone, it's obviously either very powerful or very dangerous. Or both. Not exactly the sort of thing they'd want us to know all about. Not to mention that they wouldn't want us going after a gang of hardened criminals like that."

Hell, she wasn't sure that she wanted to go after them, once they were out of town. All that blood had hit her harder than she'd thought it would.

Charles took the directions and began to run for help, holding Snow the whole way. He had Snow hold the directions, reading over her... Cone? She did kind of lack shoulders

"After this Snow, we are definately getting another Pokemon from Viridian Forest. Or maybe one from an alleyway in Pewter..." He smiled. "Wouldn't that be nice? Having another friend?"

"SnooooRUNT!" Snow sounded a little nervous. Charles rubbed her head-cone in a manner that would be akin to messing up someones hair. "You need to stop being so shy, girl! It isn't healthy. Oh, hey, there's the hospiGRAGH!"

After a few minutes of picking himself and Snow up from the ground from the sudden trip caused by not paying attention to where his feet were, he ran into the hospital. "Brock was attacked by a member of Team Rocket and is currently in his gym out cold! He needs immediate medical attention!"

Snow huddled up against Charles, shivering fearfully
