Ray sighed. He was bone-tired. "Too right. Let's get going." he said as he began shambling, but not taking his eyes from the pokedex.
Greg continued walking.
Ray handed Jackie back her pokedex. "I'm afraid it's gibberish to me. Let's just focus on getting into the city now."
"Sounds like a plan. Maybe we can find an expert to translate it or something."
Charles was already bored and kicking trees and shaking bushes
"Okay. I didn't really expect you to know, honestly. Just wanted to get your thoughts." She still stared at the entry.
"The real question is why it happened to your pokedex and not mine." Ray said. "A diagnostic wouldn't be a bad idea, just in case."
"Maybe because it saw me first? When I saw it, it glared at me for a second."
Ray paused. "It looked at you?" he asked. "How? How can you be so sure?" Ray paused and wrote it in his notebook. "There's a rational explanation. There has to be."
"Well, yeah, it saw us." Jackie thought for a couple of seconds again, hand on chin. "Yeah. And it could have killed us pretty easily, judging from all the dead things in the room, but it didn't."
"So I could have gone up to it and talked to it?" I wonder how fast I can find it in there again...
"Yes, but you're sure it looked at you specifically?" Ray asked. "I wish no offense, because you really are a wonderful lady Jackie, but what is it about you that would separate you from the rest of us the eyes of the Deoxys?"
He then turned to Charles. "Charles, you are limited to one suicidal idea a day. You're well past that limit."
"I was at the front, like I always am. Maybe it assumed I was the leader or something. Or maybe it just saw me the most prominently."
"Her dream? She said she had a dream, right?
"She wasn't the only one, though."
"Yes, I had one as well." Ray said. "Perhaps that's why the two of us were able to scan it in the first place... it still doesn't account for the odd gibberish in her pokedex."
Charles, bored again, goes back to kicking trees and bushes
"I think you were able to scan it because you got out your pokedexes while the rest of us just stood there."
"Kind of like I did with Darkrai... Oh come on, SOMETHING has to be in these bushes!"
Ray nodded. "But it still doesn't account for why Jackie and I received such wildly different entries. So, we must assume something separates Jackie from the rest of us in some way, and I do not think it was simply because she was in the lead."
"That's true. I just don't think it's that she scanned it or that she had the dream."
"Maybe she is secretly the child of Arceus?" he tries to shake a tree. "Come on, a Hoothoot or SOMETHING!"
"I didn't have any dream, though. That was Carrie."
"Well, then, that's definitely not it."
"Well, I certainly don't know what it could be. I still think it's just because it happened to see me first."
"If only things were that simple." Ray said with a sigh. "Maybe if we speak to some expert on this Deoxys in Cerulean he could shed light on things."
Charles began to climb a tree in search of Pokemon
Should I even tell him not to climb that tree? Is it really worth it? Are we really that boring?
Greg still isn't used to noticing if people say something out loud or not.
"No to all three."
