Charles dropped the balls, startled
Dynamo looked at Charles, then Carrie. "...Kidelek?" he asked, looking worried. He didn't want to hurt Carrie
Snow however panicked and used Power Snow... On the ceiling of the tent
She stepped inside, and Bob followed, club held at the ready.
"Charles. What are you doing?" Her voice was soft. If he was crazed enough to actually consider stealing Pokemon, she didn't want to do anything that might set him off.
Charles looked at her. "Doing anything I can to keep you guys from going to Mt Moon. I don't want anybody to die, alright? Now I'd suggest turning around and pretending like you saw nothing"
Charles frowned and left the balls there, walking out. He looked ashamed. "...It would have been the only way though..."
Charles sighed. "I was just going to hide the balls until you guys agreed to not go to Mt Moon..." he looked down. "And what would you suggest, then, to keep everyone away from the mountain? You said so yourself. You are going to go up there anyways. Despite there being gods up there. Gods who could kill us easily!"
"We're a team, Charles. All of us. We can all discuss it in the morning, when everyone isn't tired or annoyed. We'll make a decision as a team." She adjusted her glasses. Bob watched their discussion like a hawk.
Charles looked down at Bob. "Oh you can calm down. If I was going to try anything I'd already have you in a headlock"
He looked back up at Carrie. "You REALLY think anybody else is going to listen to me? I don't even think Snow trusts me right now..."
"People will listen to you more if you think. Think before you act. Think before you speak."
"Well why should I act any differently!? It's all people expect of me! 'Oh Charles, he's such an idiot. Let's trick him into doing this!' 'Oh Charles, you are SUCH a good friend! But if you were a REAL friend, you'd stand here and take the blame for something we did!'. Nobody listens to me because nobody gives a DAMN about what I say, what I feel!"
Charles sighed. "...My only friend is Snow..." he then sighed. "Look, I don't exactly trust Darkrai either. He offered me stones and what looked like a fossil if I stayed away from Mt Moon for the three days. That right there tells me something is off. It was the guy with him that makes me think we should stay away. The guy, he... He looked sad. Sad, worried, and honest, as if he actually cared about what happened to me, to the group. Darkrai threatened me, said that he would have had no qualms about me dying. That guy though, he warned me away from Darkrai, he didn't want me or Snow or you guys to get hurt"
Dynamo looked hurt by Charles' comment. He doesn't even see Dynamo as a friend?
Carrie cautiously reached out to touch Charles's shoulder and smiled. "Just go back to bed. Sleep it over. In the morning, you can tell the others all about what you saw, and we'll have a discussion about what our next move should be."
Charles sighed. "...But..."
He sat down on the ground and began to cry
Bob just looked confused.
Charles continued to cry for a few good minutes
Snow patted him on the back
Charles silently went to his tent. "...Can you have Bob stay outside for the night and keep Snow with you? I... I don't want to do anything stupid, and if Snow is with you and Bob is watching me... I think that might help me keep from trying something out" he asked before entering it
"Good night, Carrie..."
Snow went up to Carrie and stayed close to her, worried for Charles. Charles went into his sleeping bag and tried to fall asleep. His sleep was... Not very restful
Finally, she returned to her tent and got into her sleeping bag.
Her sleep wasn't exactly restful either.
Snow was already up and looking around the girl's tent
Ray's sleep was restless. The new information he was given had him scribbling under the soft glow Phillip had been providing and implied so much more going on. One team was bad enough, but three?
"Not that it changes anything." Ray said groggily getting out of the tent. "Still headed for Cerulean city, right Phillip?"
Phillip yawned in reply.
"If you know of a more expedient route I am all ears."
Greg wakes up. "Hm? What?"
Carrie woke with a start, covered in a cold sweat.
She'd had a long night, filled with strange dreams and hints of nightmares, but... one of them had stood out. It hadn't felt like a dream. It had felt real.
Under more normal circumstances, she would have written it off as just a dream, but now... there was something ominous about it.
