    Also, when does a, er, mod person step in? There will always be people against it and always be people for it. No matter how correct or incorrect they may be.

    The Aragorn is probably the only one I could see a solid argument for, but Zoidberg could be debatable.

    I can't edit it on an iPhone, either. Could somebody edit the fir crowned with these points:

    * The GrandfatherClause does not apply. And even if it did, that would not be a valid reason to not rename it.
    * It is listed on the RenamingTropes page as a bad name.
    * There is a large chance that many of its wicks come from people misusing it.

    The Grandfather Clause has never been a valid reason not to rename a trope. Though since people use that term incorrectly quite often, I don't know exactly what you're referring to here.

    But anyway, holy crap! I had given up on this thread when I saw that the ratio was around 1.2, but it has climbed a lot in the past few days! You already have my rename vote, Cygan, but keep up the good work.

    I wonder if there's any other tropers we can rally for this. Has anyone tried the IRC channel?

    It's usually 2:1, as that represents two thirds of the people voting support the option.

    Can we stop debating the rename crowner now? Call it Word of Mod if you like. It passed. The rules are not a straitjacket — we identified clear problems with the name, a majority voted to change it, so let's just move on.
