  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Mystery Dungeon games are the worst.
  • If that don't work, use more gun.
But the plots of the games are soooooo good.  I'd really like it though if Chunsoft could improve the gameplay somehow.

    Quicksand Cave.

If a Tyranitar or Hippopotas spawns, a sandstorm starts. Be prepared to stop every 10 steps to see you take 3 damage- coincidentally, about the same as you heal in the same period.

Tyranitar knows Dark Pulse and Thrash, which will knock off half your HP in one hit.

Sandslash knows Fury Swipes, which will knock off 1/6th of your HP per Swipe. 2-5 hits in a swipe. AND it has Sand Veil, so if a sandstorm has brewed, youre lucky to hit 50% of the time.

    -___-

I finally got up to Floor 9, and only had one floor to go, when BAM

    Monster House.

Easy 20 Pokemon- Vibrava, Trapinch, Tyranitar, Sandslash. Before I can even react, a sandstorm starts and I've been hit with two Screeches.

I remember killing Kecleons for fun :D

If I level twice, my recruit rate goes up by 5%.

Lets see those Tyranitars curbstomp a cute little Larvitar.
  • Cygan, the Mystery Dungeon games are Rouguelikes.

They're supposed to be endless mines of agony and suffering.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Ah, but thats only true for the endgame.

They are childrens games still. And this is the only dungeon in the game where this happens.
  • Yeah? Try the 99-floor ones where you can't bring any items, money, or anything, you can only bring one pokemon in, and, worst of all, you are downgraded to level one when you enter.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    Yeah.

Its also only available in the endgame.

And its not mandated by the storyline.
  • The storyline ones get mighty brutal by the end too.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Indeed. However, by that point, you have access to enough skills and such that you should be able to pull together a method for winning.

At this point in the game, less than halfway through, you barely even have access to any TM's for your two starters.
  • What the heck is up with Rayquaza's portrayal in Brawl? It's a freaking sky god, yet it bursts out of a lake and stays close to the ground for most of the battle. Did anyone specifically involved with Pokemon take part in the production of Subspace Emissary?

I hate how Random Matchup sucks because everyone uses what is basically a small pool of, like, 30 Pokemon, of which at least 20 are Unova 'mons. The guys with the more strange mons/ niche UU/NU mons still seem to give me the most trouble (and the most fun).

    > 151000 copies in the first 3 days of its US release, and over 86000
hotels licensed it for use on modified N64s in their rooms. I'd say
    that's a fair success.

That said, Pokémon Snap was released just after the beginning of the Pokémon craze.

Said craze has mostly died down by now, leaving a much smaller (albeit still sizeable) fanbase, and the thing with hotels isn't going to happen this time around either.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Well, if they can release a DS Pokemon game based on typing of all things, I'm sure they can manage to sell Pokemon Snap.

I wanted to get that post.

Anybody like using Electrode in online battles?

^.^ That high speed stat plus Thief is great. I'll have to try it with Volt Switch, Explosion, and Reflect some time for some trollish fun :3

Heck, I remember stealing a Focus Band from an Aerodactyl using an Electrode. I then survived Earthquake. My opponent switched in a hurry when they realized that my Electrode had free reign for a turn :D I don't think they saw an itemless Electrode with Thief ever being used
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    ^ That sounds awesome.

^^ Fine then, if you really want my Gliscor's Toxic Orb, you can take it.

^^ It is. It's meant as a lead because it fucks up other leads by stealing their item. Then, depending on the setup:

    BoltThief
    Electrode @ Nothing
Hasty/Naive (depending on if it has Light Screen/Reflect)
    -Thief
    -Thunderbolt
    -Light Screen/Reflect
    -Explosion

Basically you use Thief on the lead. If Electrode then has enough health after their attack, you set up Light Screen/Reflect. If not, then explode. If it still has enough health you keep needling away with Thunderbolt. The second Electrode is in danger of being knocked out, you explode

    DualThief
    Electrode @ Nothing
    Jolly
    -Thief
    -Reflect
    -Light Screen
    -Explosion

Simple enough. You steal, set up either Reflect or Light Screen, if you have enough health, set up the other one, then explode. The screens won't last long but if you switch in something that needs to set up, it can be a god send

    SwitchThief
    Electrode @ Nothing
    Jolly
    -Thief
    -Reflect/Light Screen
    -Volt Switch
    -Explosion

Steal item, set up Reflect/Light Screen if you have the health left, then Volt Switch. Later on, if one of your Pokemon is fainted and you need to revenge kill, send out Electrode. They may switch expecting an explosion, or they may go, "Hah! You would have used explosion by now!". Either way, you're leaving a crater

I haven't submitted these yet to Smogon because they still need testing

In all cases, max out Speed. Max out Attack with Switch and Dual, and don't QUITE max out Attack with Bolt so you can pump a little bit in special (How much depends on how much damage you want to do with Thunderbolt. Either way, Attack should still have a lot). Bolt and Switch should then have the remainder put in whichever defense isn't covered by a screen, and the remainder should be put into HP in the case of Dual

^ Doesn't matter. It will still take away a useful item from your Gliscor. In fact, unless the item is something that slows down Electrode, it won't ruin the strategy (Steal item. If there is health left, attack/screen. Else, explode)

"I will grant you two wishes; one for each testicle."
    ^ Choice items.

    /strategy

PS: Your Electrode is a lead. Choice Leads are unable to be differentiated from normal leads until after 1 or 2 turns if your really good at guessing. Ergo, you might Theif a Choice, forcing you to switch (or spam Theif) making you lose a turn, and it will also give your Electrode a lot of hassle when it comes back out, especially with DualTrode (Only viable attack is Explosion),
  • No rainbow star
^ Actually, the choice doesn't come in until the next move (at least in generation IV) so you can stil explode and screw them over
  • "I will grant you two wishes; one for each testicle."
^ Crap, I forgot about that. But since you explained your strategy to me, I guess I'll have my Choice Lead out and then switch to my Ghost type...

    Is sporetrode possible?
  • That would be a potential game breaker, so no. Besides, Breloom is more than enough for a Spore user.
