Male Sailor Moon fans

They always have to have some kind of "manly/perverted" excuse to want to watch the show or to admitting it. Trying to earn cred, watching it ironically or just watching for fap material.

Why don't you just admit that it's cute and girly, and that's the reason you watch it? Why can't you just respect the show for what it is, some badass girls with a solar system motif killing weirdos in one sided fights while swooning for the mysterious hot guy?

Stop saying "I watch it for the panty shots and nudity" or "I watch it because real men watch Sailor Moon without jerking off". Just watch the damn show because "I like girly things" god damn it.

When I read the title, I felt bad. Then I read the OP and felt good.

I'm not really a fan, but I like it quite much. However, I started to like it long after the anime stopped airing here (although I saw quite a bit of it) and really only know the mangas. The fanservice (the little fanservice for guys that it has) is nice, but it could never be the sole reason to watch. Although I have more a preference for the slice-of-life, than the magical girl stuff. But that's the case with many things...

But there is one thing that I really have to say: Manga Rei is much better than Anime Rei!
  • A lot of them probably do watch it for fap material...
  • I would never watch a show just because it has girly things, just like I would never watch a show just because it has manly things. There'd have to be another aspect that appeals to me. Besides, some things that are manly and some things that are girly are just really dumb.

Of course, I tend to like manly stuff more since that usually involves characters being badass and getting shit done. I'm not sure what the appeal of something girly would be besides cuteness.

You know, DYRE, but I have the feeling that you'd watch Card Captor Sakura for fap material... The reason is, of course, Lolicon.

But CCS is actually one of my favorite mangas. It's no less girly (or at least not much) than Sailor Moon, but I love it. Certainly not despite the girly things...

^^ I'm not sure what the appeal of characters being badass is, really, so... yeah.  It also helps that I'm not sure what "manly" and "girly" mean in this context.

^ -not completely sure what point you're trying to make-
  • Morgan Freeman is God

^^ There is no point. It was just a random comment.
  • "Badass" in my mind means being extraordinarily resourceful. Someone can have the trappings of a badass, but they aren't one if they fail to solve a problem they ought to be able to. It's entertaining to me to see characters triumph because of their merits.
  • That reminds me of how much Raw Power freaked out when a girl said she watched TTGL (can't remember her handle), and everyone in the thread was "HERP DE DERP GIRLS LIKE GAR" and a couple months later, people are griping about My Little Pony: THE ANIME.
  • You aren't making this about me now, are you?

And why do you insist on calling it an anime?
  • Because it's from Japan, and an animation.

Ergo, anime. Just because it doesn't have skinny people with cute eyes and chins that never move doesn't mean it's not an anime. :P

And no, Gelzo, you aren't the only one talking about "Why My Little Pony, why?"

^^^^ Fair enough.  All I really meant was that I'm not terribly impressed by things people call "badass."  Not that I even necessarily dislike them, but... there are other things I'd rather see in a show.

^^^^^ Ah.  Incidentally...  -puts Card Captor Sakura on his list of shows to watch soon...-\

^ WMG: Canada and America are actually part of Japan.
  • badass is distorted and subjective.

TTGL is too awesome to hate it.

Everybody who does hate it should be executed with a drill.
  • What kind of drill?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
A drill that sprouts out of something that has no business having a drill on it, obviously.
  • I watched the first few episodes and then I got bored so I stopped.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
TBH, the first story arc isn't that good for the most part.

Skipping episode 4 completely would probably have helped. That or watching the movies, which cut out most of the filler.

A drill that pierces the heavens, of course!

^^ Probably.  And I'll give the series another chance sometime, I think.  But... not right now.
  • I'm going to assume that the claim that MLP is from Japan is a joke.
  • I should watch it again.

And get the subbed version. The only thing that pisses me off about it is how they shoehorn "Fuck" and "badass" into the subs, even though they DONT say that in the show.

I figured out Odare komitake =/= The Fuck

I watch it cause the Male characters are cool, Tuxedo Mask is awesome!

And I watch Card Captor Sakura just cause it's cool!

I dislike the style, pacing, and content of Sailor Moon.

However, I find it a useful gag series.  This is partly because I once wrote a puzzle using Sailor Moon voice actors as clues and a friend refused to test-solve it just because it involved Sailor Moon.  Thereafter I've realized that it's a lovely way to troll people.

    That, and

  • That's why we need a Dark and Edgy Magical Girl Series...in america.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I believe Sailor Nothing was written in America, but it was a short story series, so that hardly counts.
  • It ain't no anime/cartoon.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Hence the "so that hardly counts."
  • Black Lagoon is as closest I can get to "badass girls shooting things".
