^ Possibly because of how many people there consider this place a shithole.

    V Or that.
  • Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
@AHR: You shout your mouth and stop spewing that blasphemy!
    >PS: What are you doing here?

    ^^^It's
ironic because this site was apparently a place where people who loved
TvT could go to relive to good old days of talking about anime and other
    irrelevant bullshit.

  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
Or where the tropers who were too badass for TV Tropes come.
  • In the end, is there much discussed on the internet that's not irrelevant bullshit?

Discussed is too strong of a word for what happens on the internet.

I find it hard to nerdrage, actually.

Also, I use my watchlist on TV Tropes.  I have a pretty huge watchlist.  I don't even go to the main forum page much anymore.  I just load my watchlist and read the new posts there.

Only very occasionally do I venture into new threads.
  • Kino: Been here for a while dude.

No, seriously, why do you people complain about TV Tropes's forum being filled with stupid.

You can greatly reduce it if you stick only to your watchlist.

Well, sometimes it invades threads you like. I know there was one thread I was mildly interested in, but it was so incredibly clique-y with people I disliked that I just jumped ship.

Also, Fetishes, Photos, all popular threads. Many people like them.

Also, plenty of people don't like to close off their opportunities to new discussions and new threads.

    > Well, sometimes it invades threads you like.

Then wrest control back by posting in it!
  • Mr. The Edge goes to Washington
I only went to the forums for one thing and that was to help with the "Great" Hunt and evil laugh about it.
  • Glenn: Many people do that, but that doesn't stop those disliked from posting in it. Especially the flirting that a few tropers engage in.
  • Just never go to Forum Games or OTC. Ever. And if flirting annoys you, stay away from Photos or Fetishes until they shift their nature again. And it might be a good idea to keep away from a few threads in New Media.

Do that, and you'll be fine.
  • I've been away from the forums for awhile, is it still the same people flirting with each other?

I suppose to some people, they never see that shift in nature. It becomes mostly bad, with a few windows of good.

    CC: Yes.

I almost NEVER go to general-posting or life-updates megathreads, like Photos, Fetishes, Troper Updates, and the like.

I only watchlist threads that are about specific topics, be they the Mega Man games or high heels or "d-e-" words or trying to find western RPGs with animesque art.  I think this significantly helps, because I can easily limit the number of threads on topics that people typically have too much to say about, such as, say, the concept of the strong female character.

...yeah, occasionally the high heels thread gets a new post.  I have no idea why.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
You can avoid much of stupid at tvtropes.  In fact, I only know about the stupid part at by reading that SA thread.
  • Although, everyone has different tolerances to what they perceive to be stupid or not.
  • I think that even if I hadn't been banned I would have probably lost interest anyway. Yack Fest is just as boring and full of megathreads as ever, the media section is just as boring as ever and OTC apparently sucks now, and I'd been estranged from KHSAS for a while before I'd been banned. What was going to keep me there?

    > full of megathreads

[awesomefayse.jpg] And you would never see them if you use a watchlist.
  • but the whole reason I liked IJBM is because there was a new crop of threads everyday. A watchlist would be useless to me.
  • This one finds herself having less interest in the fora than she's used to. And yes, this one suspects that lack of IJBM has something to do with it. This forum, nice as it can be, is not TVT IJBM, which had different tone and choice of topics. For a time (a long time, granted. It's been for several months) OTC filled the niche, but not it seems to have returned to politics/current events, which is not something that interests this one.

Some of the fora's policy is also worrying, but this one is not qualified enough to have an informed opinion on it. Still, rightly or wrongly, there seems to be less discussion going on.

Anyway, this one is unlikely t leave in the nearest future. It is still her favourite (and only) forum, and there are people here this one considers friends.

    Thanks, Beholderess.
  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
I usually just hang around the video game forum (while staying away from any "game politics" topics) and Yack Fest. I'm pretty comfortable where I am, so I have no intention to leave.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
I generally only hang around in "Entires that make you say 'wut'." I'll lurk around a few others, like New Media and Music, and make occasional posts. Maybe check out Wiki Talk for updates on certain things. Or go look at OTC's latest derpfest.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
I think that most of the threads that newly join my watchlist are actually threads that I myself have made.

So yeah, I admit to not really browsing the forums proper.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I mostly go there to report fucktardism and reply to video game threads.
