Well, I've officially left TVTropes
Comments
Well, the megathreads have started to bore me, and now the media threads i just can't connect with at all. My tastes probably sail over everyone's heads.
and he assumes that any "popular opinions" thread will be like that.
Dude, I know what the party line is. It's a bullshit decision that was made for bullshit reasons that brings TV Tropes one step closer to turning the mods into fascists, and the sooner we stop apologizing for it and start realizing its a problem, the better.
Haven't you learned from Chagen? Using that word will cause people to disregard your entire post.
TVT bashing threadthing.TV Tropes strikes me as if its gotten pretentious lately. I mean, aside from the crapsaccharine policies there's also the constant attempts to play up the wiki as an actual useful resource when in actuality its just a collection of trivia, to pretend its intelligent when its actually just dumb entertainment. I honestly facepalmed when the "Trope of the Week" videos started. They think that if they do a weekly video series they'll be popular, like that Nostalgia Critic guy. What they fail to appreciate is that watching a man-child rip on old movies is entertaining, watching people talk about a phrase they made up is not.
And of course, there's that Fast Eddie has been entirely consumed with the profit motive, even though I'm guessing there's no way in hell he can get rich off TV Tropes. That's the website that shit its pants when it almost lost Google ads, remember--obviously it can't be making very much. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say that in five years TV Tropes basically won't exist.
Also, I'm sorry that I unwittingly imported drama.
I mean, aside from the crapsaccharine policies
It's not the policies themselves, it's how it's enforced. In theory, TV Tropes is supposed to be completely neutral about works. But the mods also have a policy of letting things slide if they don't cause flame wars or natter. A side effect of this is that the wiki is full of gushing.
And of course, there's that Fast Eddie has been entirely consumed with the profit motive,
He is? After the Google ad fiasco, you'd think he'd be more worried about keeping TV Tropes afloat, period.
EDIT: Hey, don't admit that. Your post doesn't sound like it's [REDACTED] at all.
I was perma banned from TV Tropes just two weeks ago. I deserved it because I was being a jerk. I don't go there as much anymore.
LOL! Because Troper Tales is boring now. That's why!
Oh and everytime I go to the website it reminds me that I am banned. When I don't use private browse anyway.
I mostly blame lack of interest in the threads in Yack Fest combined with offline activities leaving me very little time to do much more than editing the wiki itself.
